Hopefully we can go back to an ordinary tale of country folk?

Spoilers are frowned upon.... There's a thread for that.

Am overjoyed at Emma in recent episodes, she's a shining example of when TA has brilliant long term character development. I loathed her for years and years all through the love triangle stuff and then when she got together with Ed for good she was still incredibly whingey and annoying but then we started getting tantalising glimpses of her better side (eg one night she went out with Ruth to sort out some fencing that had come down in a gale).

She started coming into her own as a strong, sensible character a few years ago, she was endlessly pragmatic when her and Ed fell on real hard times and she was a good friend to both Helen and Nic at times. Her episodes this week have really shown she's pretty awesome but also human and very sensitive. Long may it continue.

I found my Amex recap thread if anyone wants to relive the baffling final series. It tails off a bit towards the end as I got massively behind and the plot got so utterly incomprehensible I couldn't untangle it properly when I finally listened.

RandomDent · 02/10/2016 18:46

Ooh, I'm on that thread with my old account!

ErrolTheDragon · 02/10/2016 18:47

Emma is turning out to be a formidable combination of Neil's rock and Susan's fire.

And the other thing that didn't occur to Rob is how connected she is in Ambridge - if we did a 'kevin bacon number' analysis using Emma, nearly everyone would be 1 or 2.

OhTheRoses · 02/10/2016 19:04

Really looking forward to tonight's episode.

Stickerrocks · 02/10/2016 19:09

Rob really is showing his true colours again then.

WipsGlitter · 02/10/2016 19:10

Go Harrison! And Johnny!!

Rob's really losing it now.

enochroot · 02/10/2016 19:11

Ooh! Harrison's got a backbone.

Mootsie · 02/10/2016 19:11

Wow! I love this.

Bea · 02/10/2016 19:11

Rob has lost the plot!! Hooray!!

Gruach · 02/10/2016 19:22

Cup. Runneth. Over.

Fabulous episode. Everything we wanted for Rob. (Though perhaps he has to be humiliated regarding the Hunt to round things off.) He's already sounding more than a little demented. Sure to find his way into the sinkhole soon.

BOOPS all round.

Who were the other people he was talking to on the team?

His laugh was definitely on the unhinged side of the spectrum

TheAntiBoop · 02/10/2016 19:28

But isn't it funny how no one commented on his bad sportsmanship before and all thought he was fine. Maybe the sw felt they had written the cricket scenes more fully than they had in the past.

Nice he's getting his comeuppance but will be interesting when Adam has to work for him.

I thought Harrison was doc Locke at first.

Wrt sw on the rob sl it has gone up a notch again - do you think doc wrote a lot of the last 6 months thinking he could do a better job? Because before that and now it is so much better

ColdTeaAgain · 02/10/2016 19:29

Loved the slow clap. And then later the way he was still hanging about likes bad small, shows just how deluded he is. Nice touch that they won thanks to Adams tactics :)

Yes hunt season starts in a few weeks although presumably he won't be fit to ride for a while after his surgery.

EBearhug · 02/10/2016 19:34

I think there have always been a lot of silents on the team, most of whom don't even have a name.

I don't think Rob has any understanding of actual team spirit and how having him on the team would mean they had no team - it's only about who can play well (like only real men can) in his eyes. He really wasn't expecting to be booted out - and yet his reaction showed exactly why he was no asset at all. How could he expect anyone to play with him if he is so despicably rude and supercilious to them all? (No, it's okay, I am not actually expecting anyone to explain it, because that would be normal people, not Rob-types who would make that link.)

I thought geriatrics and schoolboys was the point of village cricket.

TheAntiBoop · 02/10/2016 19:39

But where do the nameless ones come from?

Gherkinsmummy · 02/10/2016 19:49

Could Rob even play with a stoma? still happy to hear his edifice crumbling.

HumphreyCobblers · 02/10/2016 19:50

I did enjoy that episode. DH started to vacuum in the middle of it and got severely glared at.

Gherkinsmummy · 02/10/2016 19:51

Aren't the nameless ones vampires?

Greyandyellow · 02/10/2016 19:57

ArchersBOOPsArchers all round for Emma, Jazzer, David, Jonny, Adam, Harrison and Kaz Archers and not to mention Pat and Tone for dealing with Rob the last week.

starsorwater · 02/10/2016 20:01

I'm irrationally sorry for Rob. And I think all that ho-ho-ho bullying he is getting is going to make him worse and soon something horrible and violent will happen to some one innocent. Also I can't help remembering that the before reincarnation Helen was far from 'incredibly loyal'. I seem to recall a bit of a brat. Johnny is also now too good to be true. And I fear Tony is not long for this world.
Pip is still in character though. She has been insufferable from birth.
I'll go back to my grumpy lurking now.

Cromwell1536 · 02/10/2016 20:08

Well, stars, an individual has to acknowledge their crime, accept they've done wrong and that they deserve their punishment before they can begin to be rehabilitated. Rob hasn't even acknowledged that he's done anything wrong, so he can't be rehabilitated yet. Emmer had it right: if he had a shred of decency he'd take himself out of the picture and have a good long word with himself. But then we wouldn't get scenes like tonight's and Friday's episodes! So let's hope he keeps hanging around and the torture continues for Ambridge residents (not for Henry, though, poor lad, he doesn't deserve it).

TheAntiBoop · 02/10/2016 20:18

Contrite or not - he would still want to see Gideon. Expecting him to disappear into the sunset is deeply unrealistic

Loved hearing Past two episodes :- I am in heaven after hearing not only Rob being escorted out of the Bull, but also given a slow hand clap by the cricket team. I think being booted out of the hunt might finally make Justin wake up and realise he has to dump Rob too.
