Welcome one and all. No spoilers please!

Can one of our legal experts clarify something - if you're giving evidence and you're cut of partway through a sentence as happened today with Pat, are you allowed to say that you hadn't finished the sentence and complete it?

JudyCoolibar · 14/09/2016 22:51

Yes, you are. But that business of cutting in before the witness finishes answering is really more of a scriptwriters' device than a reflection of what actually happens in court. I suspect that in reality the judge would probably have insisted that he wanted to hear the whole answer.

BitOutOfPractice · 14/09/2016 23:00

I thought tonight's episode was just dreary and dull

Butteredparsn1ps · 14/09/2016 23:11

Marking place. Thank you for the Thread Pseudo.

I enjoyed Helen tonight. Pat, notsomuch. Leaving aside the interruption, surely if you were trying to give a good impression of someone, you would say she was taking her Grandmother to the hairdressers?

I also winced at Helen being a superior mother because she conceived H by donated sperm.

TopazRocks · 14/09/2016 23:34

Maybe due to the prejudice about donor insemination, she feels she has to speak up. I like hearing Helen speaking up for herself. She's had plenty of thinking time, i expect. And her mother's change is plausible as she's been so worried. I refuse to be too critical of them .... BOOP, BOOP, BOOP Grin

TaurielTest · 15/09/2016 01:10

In the flower and produce show conversation, I did enjoy Lilian announcing that she was "entering her gentleman's buttonhole" with just a hint of filthy laugh.

Kuriusoranj · 15/09/2016 02:14

I loved this episode - really felt like the Helen we know and are irritated by is back! Loved the judge's sly point "I heard the evidence about Rob, don't try to pull the wool over MY eyes".

DoctorTwo · 15/09/2016 05:36

Oops, yes, I meant Lizzie and Dr Cocke. Blush :o

Minimammoth · 15/09/2016 07:00

Pseudo, great title, place marking. [bull]

Eastpoint · 15/09/2016 07:31

Thank you for the new thread Pseudo.

SarfEast1cated · 15/09/2016 07:43

Place marking as Lowfield hasn't updated yet. They have done stirling work over the last few weeks, so possibly having a lie down. Grin

arranged · 15/09/2016 08:24

Thanks Pseudo

A thought occurred to me last night - do you think whole we've been distracted by the trial Lizzie and Richard have been getting all hot and heavy?

The break from Pip and Toby has been great.

*caveat, I didn't listen last night

Redcliff · 15/09/2016 08:40

I suspect Rich and Lizzie have met for lunch a couple of times but the sw are saving hit and heavy for our ears

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel · 15/09/2016 08:41

WannaBe there's no such thing as custody any more, hasn't been for years. It's referred to as residence now.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/09/2016 08:44

You know how they say that the pictures are better on the radio ... Not always. Grin

Greengager · 15/09/2016 10:54

Can't believe how quickly the last thread filled up! Good discussion on Woman's hours this morning about last night's episode and what might realistically happen re contact. Confirmed. Wry unusual to have the same judge especially a such a senior judge.

Greengager · 15/09/2016 10:55

Very

GiddyGiddyGoat · 15/09/2016 11:15

Missed the Women's Hour thing... do I need to amend my pontificating on the legal perspective?!

PrincessFiorimonde · 15/09/2016 11:20

Thanks for the new thread, Pseudo.

redshoeblueshoe · 15/09/2016 11:46

Roof was particularly annoying last night.
Everything back to normal then Smile

SingingAvocado · 15/09/2016 11:49

I thought Josh was more annoying than Ruth!

Tuktuktaker · 15/09/2016 11:55

I enjoyed that episode too. Though I hadn't realised how objectionable Josh had become in the time I've not been listening. Vile character. Much like his big sis, of course.
I am absolutely convinced that Hellbent's eating disorder began after Greg's suicide, not after John's death, as she said in court yesterday. Anyhow, she certainly was suffering from it after Greg's death. Does anyone have the true facts at their fingertips, please? I have a feeling the programme's continuity Rolodex has gone missing again.

Twoseventhsaweasley · 15/09/2016 11:59

Of course I really want Helen to get full time residence for both boys, and for Rob to slink off never to be heard again, but I can't see it happening.

I am guessing that he will get some contact with both boys, but I hope it is supervised. If he only gets supervised contact that will hopefully keep his vile mother away from the children.

Henry has already been damaged by Rob. If baby Jack is exclusively breast fed could that limit the amount of time Rob can spend with him? Could the court insist that Helen expresses milk for him?

SingingAvocado · 15/09/2016 12:10

Just listened to Women's Hour and they were saying it was possible that Ursula could be the one to supervise Rob's contact with the children (if he gets it). Now that is a scary thought …

Putthetulipsthere · 15/09/2016 12:28

Yes tuktuk, I'm sure Helen's eating disorder started after Greg's suicide rather than after John's death.

Just listened to Womans Hour. Very interested to hear it confirmed that it would be very unlikely to have the same judge hear a criminal case one week, and family law the next. But as it's in Helen's interest, I don't care!! It's awful to think Ursula could provide the supervisory contact for Rob, maybe that will be the twist, given that it seems to be going quite well for Helen.
