Welcome one and all. No spoilers please!

Thanks Pseudo _ your last thread didn't last long!

Loving all the contributions from the delurkers - Who? should appoint Giddy as Legal Advisor to TA forthwith.

BoffinMum · 14/09/2016 18:55

I actually don't think there are any schools left that take boarders at 6 or 7. That was a bit British Empire and I thought they had fizzled out after the 1988 Education Act. Perhaps 8 or 9? I might have a look.

BoffinMum · 14/09/2016 18:59

The only one in Hampshire that is likely is Pilgrim's, and boarding starts at 8 there (i.e. prep rather than pre-prep).

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 14/09/2016 19:06

Not liking all this confidence that Helen will get the boys!

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 14/09/2016 19:08

Ooh! Same judge, is that possible?

ColdTeaAgain · 14/09/2016 19:10

Pat has located her intellect!

What a surprise using the accident against them! God forbid a mother gets her hair done every now and again Angry

Stickerrocks · 14/09/2016 19:12

It sounds as though the old Helen is back & finally standing up for herself.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 14/09/2016 19:12

Yeah but all this about how she was an extra good mother because Henry was sperm donated may not help the case that she should have Jack, to whom the exact opposite of everything Pat has said applies in spades!

Vango · 14/09/2016 19:16

We are clearly being rewarded for our patience! I love newly restored, clear thinking Helen. Much less sighing sat the radio in this house.

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 14/09/2016 19:16

Why can't she revoke parental responsibility? Knob is not Henry's biological father and with everything that has happened she must have strong grounds for it!

tomtherabbit · 14/09/2016 19:20

She has to apply to have Rob's PR revoked by the court I think.

Presumably she will do that after the hearing.

I'm not liking the way it's going either - given how they liked an about face cliff hanger in the trial

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 14/09/2016 19:20

I hope Pat was able to complete that sentence at some point. Helen was driving Peggy to the hairdresser, so while clearly she should also be allowed a bit of time off for herself, on that day she was actually doing a good deed for her elderly grandmother.

I've no idea whether it's realistic to have the same judge, but I'm glad. I thought he had the measure of Rob.

Scorbus · 14/09/2016 19:21

Thanks for the new thread

BoffinMum · 14/09/2016 19:21

If Rob turned up with a stick to this hearing, he would look unable to look after two small children.

If he didn't turn up with a stick, it would be clear to the judge that he had been putting on the theatrics.

Catch 22!

AnnieNoMouse · 14/09/2016 19:23

She will have to ask the court to revoke PR, it's not within her power, unless Rob agrees. I only know this because I looked into it when Rob got PR.

Wondering why Anna didn't ask for an immediate interim order allowing Helen to have at least equal shared contact with Rob, given that she is no longer in prison? Although maybe she didn't ask as a tactical thing - could have ended up with "Helen can have Henry half the week and Rob can have Jack half the week too."

Also, would the judge from the criminal trial be allowed to hear the family court hearing involving both defendant and alleged victim? I shall look that up later Grin

Vango · 14/09/2016 19:36

Even more annoyingly, if the Family Court decided that the children should live with Rob, HE could apply to the court to have HER PR revoked. Far fetched I know but if he wants to hurt her.....

GiddyGiddyGoat · 14/09/2016 19:37

Nothing to stop the same judge hearing the criminal and family cases - he didn't make any findings about what happened - it was for the jury to decide on the verdict and it is seen as ano advantage to have heard that evidence which of course is highly relevant (hence my suggestion before that in rl you would expect a transcript of the criminal evidence...).

It's all sounding a bit too good to be true atm. Are we to expect more dramatic surprises and twists - gawd help us. Shame Pat only rediscovered her mind now - after clearly having been taken over by an alien for the last year or more.

AnnieNoMouse · 14/09/2016 19:39

Although I think revoking PR for a natural parent would only be possible in the most extreme circumstances? In which case Rob or social services would just go for adoption and a freeing up(?) order meaning Helen would no longer be the natural parent.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 14/09/2016 19:41

Unlike Knob He'll can't have her pr revoked as she is biological mother. Only an adoption order would remove her pr. Likewise Rob will share pr for Gack with her as married biological parents. Residence and contact orders will decide who children live with and how much contact with non resident parent.

AnnieNoMouse · 14/09/2016 19:43

Thanks Giddy re the judge doing both cases

RockNRollNerd · 14/09/2016 19:47

Why has Pat still not learned her lesson about opening her mouth without thinking. There was no reason for her not to say 'she was taking her grandmother to the hairdressers' rather than, 'she was going to the hairdressers'.

I had hoped that Shula might have passed on Bruce's comments about Jack - he can't bear him but I suspect only Shula has heard that as I don't think he's interacted with anyone else in Ambridge has he?

I'm slightly concerned we will now never hear more from poor Caz, she served her purpose and being jammed into the culvert of forgotten storylines as we speak...

JudyCoolibar · 14/09/2016 19:47

I think PP investigated at the time the boarding school proposal came up and did find one or two. One was Queen Ethelburga's, which offers boarding in Year 1.

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/09/2016 19:49

BoffinMum some of us researched boarding schools that would take children at 6 or 7 when Knob and Arsula first came up with the idea.

We found a few: this one for instance appears to take boarders from year 1.

JudyCoolibar · 14/09/2016 19:50

Interesting that the judge apparently fully agreed with the not guilty verdict.

I did want to hear Rob being questioned about precisely he was planning to look after a 5 year old and a baby.
