Will this thread see the end of The Trial? And SOC?

EBear - yes, I do.

I want to feel that life in Ambridge is unfolding naturally and spontaneously; that from one moment to the next anything is possible.

The trailers set everything in stone. It's as if the story has already died, even though they keep broadcasting the episodes.

EBearhug · 29/08/2016 16:40

I hope it's not going to be a week of just court scenes. That's really quite crap on radio.

RockNRollNerd · 29/08/2016 16:51

So 6 episodes - how is this going to work, are we going to have the wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey- thing going on again where some episodes continue the sentence from the previous one and others jump a day forwards? I suspect it's going to be very confusing...

fruitstick · 29/08/2016 17:01

"So Mrs Archer, you said that ....., now my question"

I suspect there will be a lot of that.

GypsyFl0ss · 29/08/2016 17:02

Compete derail...we've just had a man here collecting an eBay item who was telling my husband that he works at the local ag.college as an animal behaviourist and sometimes advises R4 and The Archers on their animal noises. I'm gutted to have missed him Grin
I was out school shoe shopping with DS who had his heart set on a pair of ( non tasselly) loafers. Cue the conversation in M&S ...you can't wear them you'll look like Brian Aldridge...who?...from the Archers...right, I can't dress like a pretend man off the radio, okay... Needless to say Archers Love is not strong in this child!

ArgyMargy · 29/08/2016 17:09

The Shula sandwich thing was ridiculous. At least 2/3 of men (and 3/3 of men Jonny's age) would hoover up any free sandwich offered to them, particularly after playing sport - and yes even if they'd already had a full cricket tea!

CeciledeVolanges · 29/08/2016 17:25

Errol he has only spent a day? I have spent two days listening to a trial. I saw one person being cross examined. Not sure that would prepare me to edit or write a whole trial, especially as on the radio we can't see the reactions of people in the public gallery without them speaking and thus risking contempt, completely out of character. The whole thing is a mess.

Gruach · 29/08/2016 17:35

Grin I said the same on the Spoilers thread Cecile. One day would be useless.

Actually, for the sake of any newbies here, and in anticipation of the coming ... excitement - here's a link to said thread.

DO NOT OPEN IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ ARCHERS SPOILERS.

It didn't sound like enough research to me either.

CeciledeVolanges · 29/08/2016 18:01

Gruach* love it when clever people agree with me, I feel more legitimate!
Also anyone else who listens to Dumteedum, as I do since last week, I thought the problems with the whole sorry storyline was summed up with the words "why can't Anna just be a solicitor?" Appropriate in so many ways.

Gruach · 29/08/2016 19:07

We are all super-sleuths!

BoreOfWhabylon · 29/08/2016 19:08

AHA!!!

BertrandRussell · 29/08/2016 19:08

She's a girl, she's a man, it's a sledge.....

BoreOfWhabylon · 29/08/2016 19:09

Gosh, SOC, what a surprise. You certainly fooled us all there.

Gruach · 29/08/2016 19:10

Oh wow.

So eventually there may be a romance for Carol?

fruitstick · 29/08/2016 19:11

No one saw that coming. No one.

SealSong · 29/08/2016 19:13

Tedious. Anna, Richard, Elizabeth....painful to listen to.

BertrandRussell · 29/08/2016 19:14

Anna's going to kill herself, isn't she?

BlossomHillOne · 29/08/2016 19:14

Yawn - just the way I like it!

ColdTeaAgain · 29/08/2016 19:15

Oh god this is dull tonight.

Gruach · 29/08/2016 19:15

Whoever does the casting does seem to like a certain type of voice. Male voice. Female voice.

I really do think the Anna story is highly disrespectful to professional women. There aren't many on TA. Why make her so ... so ...

BlossomHillOne · 29/08/2016 19:17

Pathetic? Needy? Incapable?

Bea · 29/08/2016 19:18

Gruach - yes! Exactly!... Bring in the professional hot shot lawyer.... Oh but then turn her into confused, self doubting, insecure woman!... Arrrggh!!

TheAntiBoop · 29/08/2016 19:18

I have a theory that Anna only thinks she is a barrister but she is in fact a barrista that watched a lot of tv, had a head injury and became confused whilst also being able to convince everyone she does do what she says she does

BoreOfWhabylon · 29/08/2016 19:25

Mystic Bore predicts again that it is only a matter of time before Anna and Helen get together in SOC's legacy to us all - his daring storyline of Sapphic love in Ambridge.

Ambridge residents will be able to give their interesting takes on this. Soosan in particular "Well, I certainly didn't get up to anything like that when I was incarcerated"

When Kaz eventually gets out they can set up a jolly little menagerie à trois - Kaz will be handy for child care, after all.
