Will this thread see the end of The Trial? And SOC?

I don't post that often here as I've got nothing much to say, as, like a couple of other posters, I've been listening since Methuselah was a boy and am rendered mostly incoherent at the turns of events in Ambridge over the past few years. Stopped listening for almost a year after Nigel's Scream, came back via Ambridge Extra, and stopped listening regularly at the time of the highly improbable proposed sale of Brookfield and the Kirsty Bridezilla episode. I read these threads to see if there is anything I might enjoy, and mostly, there isn't.
Anyhow, after all that, I just wanted to say that it seems that the hour long episode might be a two-hander between Pat and Tony (not sure if anyone else has pointed it out, sorry). Or a red herring cast list from SOC, of course. I certainly won't be listening to that!

DadDadDad · 03/09/2016 08:30

I agree that an hour of Pat and Tony would be excruciating! Their bits in last night's episode seemed to be there just to labour the point to the listener: will Helen reveal something significant at the last moment, is it too late? The trial's next week, Tony - did you hear that listeners, next week!

TheAntiBoop · 03/09/2016 08:40

Gosh, the sound of music. Being gay, Anna must obviously adore it.

Hasn't he got the stereotype a little wrong?

mummytime · 03/09/2016 08:52

The interesting fact is that SOC is gay. Maybe he just doesn't know any lesbians?

Tuktuktaker · 03/09/2016 09:04

Isn't SOC a Friend of Vanessa (not a euphemism)?

JasperDamerel · 03/09/2016 09:11

I was just thinking that surely Grey Gables must be a hotbed of support for Helen at the moment. I know that Kathy's been rendered mute and invisible and Pat no longer has a social life, but in actual Abridge, surely Kirstie and Kathy discuss Rob's evil ways with Pat dropping in, and now Ian, too. But they never seem to talk to each other.

JudyCoolibar · 03/09/2016 09:39

Let's hope Helen's new-found willingness to help includes giving permission for Women's Aid to release information about what she told them. The solicitor can easily follow it up while Anna is in court.

Gawd, Pat sounds so bloody needy. If she's already in hysterics before the trial has started, she'll be in full-blown meltdown by the time she gives evidence.

DadDadDad · 03/09/2016 11:16

After Carol talked about a holiday in the Tyrol listening to the Sound of Music, and Anna said "I'll be on my way" I almost thought she was going to add (singing) "with a knapsack on my back" Grin

Surely it wouldn't be difficult to find our knobs boarding school and contact the headmaster there to verify whether the BS BS was real or whether it was a vague enquiry about Henry's future?

At the moment it's a she said, they said nothing!

I have to admit to doing the Sound of Music tour in Salzburg and enjoying it Blush. It was kitsch, but it didn't take any of it seriously, and they told us about the bloopers like the mountain they climbed in the film leading straight into Germany. For someone who needs to wind down, it's a fun thing to do. But I'm still Confused by the SWs' assumption that a leading QC only has one client at a time and Anna's diary for the period after the trial is going to be completely empty.

Maybe Anna will meet a glamorous tour guide and move to Salzburg where she will happily spend the rest of her life leading SoM tours?

The BBC Archers page has tweeted something this morning about Hellbent's trial starting TOMORROW (their capitals). So have courts started sitting on Sundays in the 25 years since I left England?

Can anybody remember which poster, around the time of the stabbing, shared that she and her family danced round the kitchen to the theme tune singing 'we all know that Rob's a cunt/we know he's an arsehole'? Only I think of her pretty much every time I hear the theme tune!

mummytime · 03/09/2016 12:03

It's kind of interesting if Anna does got to the Tyrol. I was on the Chalet School thread for a while, and we did speculate whether the Tyrol was a very popular holiday spot for lesbians "back in the day".

cirrusblue · 03/09/2016 12:10

Olympia I'm not sure that Helen knew it was Rob's old school Rob and Ursula were inquiring about. I thought it was just a "boarding school" hence the lack of investigation by Anna that might have uncovered hard facts about Rob and Ursula's actual visit there.

So thanks to Pipbin Flowers

cirrusblue I'm pretty sure Rob told Henry that he would be going to his school. Maybe that has come out in Henry's statement.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 03/09/2016 15:35

Thanks pseudo! My whole family were charmed by that and I must tell Pipbin so if she pops up sometime!

I think it's all going to be wibblywobblytimeywimey for the next week - bit like 'flood week' where some epsiodes followed on immediately where the previous one left off and then others jumped forward by a day and then somehow they caught back up so that everything was back in realy time. Hellishly confusing, especially as I have a feeling the podcasts (which don't have the continuity announcer on) didn't specify what day/time it was.

I suspect we'll have a couple of eps of continuous courtroom then a catch up with Susan and Lynda reading the report of the previous day out in the paper then back to court...

JudyCoolibar · 03/09/2016 16:05

Didn't it turn out that the stabbing officially happened on a Monday even though we all heard it on the Sunday?

cirrusblue · 03/09/2016 16:23

tomtherabbit Yes I sort of remember Rob telling him that. If Helen knew that it was Rob's school in particular, why wouldn't have Anna looked into that though? Still it may all come out in Henry's statement - well I suspect a lot of things might come out in Henry's statement even if that line of inquiry goes nowhere!

PerspicaciaTick · 03/09/2016 16:23

Has anyone ever spoken officially to Rob's mother about her perspective on their marriage (in a sort of background research way)? I can't help thing that her Rob blinkers are so huge she would spill the beans without realising it could all look weird to anyone normal.
