A once-great soap is going down the Beverley drain.

I take it the Brighton thing is destined to blow up into some big crisis just at the point when Pip is all loved up with Tobes. Given that they're not likely to have two big SLs going at once, we must be destined to several months of those two slurping over each other. Angry

LadyStarkOfWinterfell · 08/07/2016 07:07

Ugh that kissing scene Envy

I'm so cross that no social worker has done an assessment on Henry. It's like they haven't even considered it.

CuttedUpPear · 08/07/2016 07:31

In my absence, has there been any explanation of 'Brighton' in reference to Toby?

NotdeadyetBOING · 08/07/2016 07:32

The build up to that Lakey Hill snog was unbearable.

Gruach · 08/07/2016 07:48

No CUP - nothing more.

Robshaw ... Robshaw ...?

R4 · 08/07/2016 07:55

Ahem, Gruach, he was only Captain of England.

I see Tobes as Gavin Henson - overly manicured (permatan, body waxing) but, again, I can't see such a type choosing to base himself in sleepy Ambridge.

Gruach · 08/07/2016 07:57

Have looked.

Nope. Mr Robshaw (minus his muscles) looks like Pip's ex - was it Lester?

The Fairbrothers are dark haired. It would be helpful to have some idea of their dad. Anyone remember what he was like (taking "cad" as a starting point) and how he might look? I completely missed that whole story.

I do think a Fairbrother baby at Brookfield would be eminently satisfying.Grin (Wouldn't make me forgive SOC for all the rest though.)Angry

R4 · 08/07/2016 08:11

Pip's ex was Spencer. I've seen his picture on the Who's Who and it looks right: pale, puny and a bit gormless (apologies to the actor ... or let's put it down to good photo-acting).
Robshaw is an absolute workhorse, dependable, solid as a rock (mentally and physically). He/Rex would make good husband material.

However, if you want a dark-haired rugby player, can I offer Mr Dan Carter?

LillianGish · 08/07/2016 08:14

I love the idea that the only gossiping about Helen and Knob is going on in the primary school. I also think it is highly unlikely that Pat and Tony wouldn't have discussed Helen's whereabouts with Henwee already. I actually fell asleep during the Pip and Toby bit and woke up for the slurping (late night listening again).

ColdTeaAgain · 08/07/2016 08:18

What is the Brighton thing? I see people refer to it on here but no idea what it's about?

Gruach · 08/07/2016 08:20

Oh! Now you've hit the nail on the head R4. This latest exhibit looks exactly like my idea of Rex.Grin

Interesting turn my morning has taken ...

Minimammoth · 08/07/2016 08:27

I think we are on for a Pip baby, I think it was fagged up threads ago.

Minimammoth · 08/07/2016 08:27

Flagged, flagged. Tsch.

EBearhug · 08/07/2016 08:28

We don't know what the Brighton thing is. Every once in a while, Toby goes off to Brighton for a few days to sort things out, usually at great expense, and Rex has said things like, "it'll be like Brighton all over again," but we don't actually know more than that.

I'm assuming it'll be a boring anticlimax when we eventually do find out, and we'll be thinking, why did they make all that us about it?

EBearhug · 08/07/2016 08:29

Fuss about it

ppeatfruit · 08/07/2016 08:29

Didn't Prokoviev set the music to the story of Lieutenant Kijie? I don't remember if that's right so correct me.

I haven't heard last night's yet but blimey some of you are actually LIKING Toby????? Shock . I can't see Jill sharing that sentiment!!

ArgyMargy · 08/07/2016 08:33

Surely it was Wales, R4?! And Gruach rugby types vary depending on their position - I imagine Rex was a fly half (the smaller, faster ones who tend not to get very dirty and never develop the cauliflower ear).

R4 · 08/07/2016 08:47

Don't mention Wales.Sad

Wasn't Rex a Forward? Did his back in in the scrum?

Toomuchtea · 08/07/2016 09:22

Why did I decide it was a good idea to switch over from Wimbledon and listen to the last bit of TA? Why? Ye gods, that kissing scene.

All the rugby players in all the world cannot wash that image away.

Gruach · 08/07/2016 09:27

So none of you are gleefully anticipating Jill's face?Grin

Toomuchtea · 08/07/2016 09:30

It's enough to make Jill's Victoria sponge completely fail to rise.

TeenyfTroon · 08/07/2016 09:46

Thanks very much, HalsallRedux. Now I can't stop singing:

"Oh Kijé was a Hussar bold,
A Hussar bold was he.
He fought so bravely for the Tsar,
The pride of the cavalry."

And anyone who was at school in the early sixties, listening to Time and Tune will be singing with me!

Swannykazoo · 08/07/2016 09:58

There's a line an Victoria Wood as seen on tv where Julie Walters says "I don't go round panting for bodily intimacy like a misguided poodle, I'm a very cerebral and spiritual person"
I see the Fairthbrethren as 2 misguided poodles. All wet and dribbly and tail waggy round Pip. Bleerrrgh

ppeatfruit · 08/07/2016 10:30

Ebear I reckon that Toby either has an ex wife (or possibly not even an ex?!!) or partner, or a mother of a child from an ill judged one night stand in Brighton.

Gruach · 08/07/2016 10:37

I've also been assuming an ex and child in Brighton ppeat.

But the outcome is certain to be disappointingly executed.
