A once-great soap is going down the Beverley drain.

Also, rain stops play as it makes the ball slippery and really difficult to bowl fast accurately. Facing a 90mph beamer isn't fun.

Shallishanti · 02/08/2016 19:07

why is Caroline being so pathetic??????

enochroot · 02/08/2016 19:11

It's hurtful because he's effectively saying ha ha he's mine. You can't have him even if I have to farm him out to someone else. I'd choose anyone but you to look after him.

Shallishanti · 02/08/2016 19:15

god, Alistair, does no one have any moral sense at all???

Stickerrocks · 02/08/2016 19:15

I thought vets had a code of ethics like accountants, doctors & solicitors. Caroline & Alistair should be supporting her, not telling her to forget about it.

Gruach · 02/08/2016 19:16

So this is what's going to split Shula and Alistair up?!

And no, Caroline would never be so spineless.

Shallishanti · 02/08/2016 19:16

is he in Rob's pay or something? a gambling debt? blackmail?

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/08/2016 19:17

God, I haven't listened in ages and this is why. The self interest of Shula and Alistair is sickening. And good to see that Harrison has totally forgotten what a knob Rob is.

Honestly, I wonder if the scriptwriters have ever listened to a previous episode of the archers.

Dumdedumdedum · 02/08/2016 19:20

Legal listeners, is that right? Shula would land up behind bars if she were to tell the truth?
And by theblooks of it, Rob's true vpcolours will never be revealed and Hellbent is jail-bent?

Dumdedumdedum · 02/08/2016 19:22

Sorry for extra letters, "by the looks of it, Rob's true colours" was what the ipad meant to type.

JudyCoolibar · 02/08/2016 19:29

I suppose Shula could get done for obstructing the police? But I very much doubt she'd get a custodial sentence. However, the main difficulty is that she's telling the authorities she lied before but she's not lying now - people are bound to suggest she's lying now to protect her cousin.

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/08/2016 19:42

Wonder if Anna will try to track down the sab?

And yes, bleurrghh to St Smugula and spouse.

BertrandRussell · 02/08/2016 20:05

Charlie? Jess? Helloooooooooo!!!!

Dumdedumdedum · 02/08/2016 20:08

Good point, Judy, you're quite right. I wonder if Anna counts as the authorities, though, and then the sab would be witness - but of course, that would still involve Shula admitting she had been lying. I thought because earlier in the evening, Alastair had reminded Harrison of the cricket crap with Rob that Alastair would be more sympathetic/understanding of St Shula.
My apologies for not keeping up at the back - do we know why Kirsty has not come forward with her evidence of having called the Women's Refuge? (I am still only listening erratically, so have missed a lot.)

Dumdedumdedum · 02/08/2016 20:09

Well quaite, Bertrand! Sniffffff.

Gumpendorf · 02/08/2016 20:13

I think perverting the course of justice is a guaranteed prison sentence, Judy. It's all about maintaining the rule of law and stability in society, which does seem hypocritical in an age where politicians and others can lie through their back teeth with no adverse consequences.

So Shula might end up charged and her evidence might still not be believed or not seen as significant. Bit of a dilemma, eh?

AnnieNoMouse · 02/08/2016 20:22

I've stopped listening, apart from the occasional episode. But can I ask what Rob wants Emma to do exactly? He's not looking for a child minder to allow him to go back to work at the shop surely?
Re the legal questions that keep popping up here - we can only answer them with reference to the English legal system, but I fear Ambridge comes under the Broadchurch legal system where anything goes. Confused

AnnieNoMouse · 02/08/2016 20:24

Shula gets time and Helen gets off - result!

drspouse · 02/08/2016 20:38

Rob just wants a break - he's finding it too much to look after Henry all day, 6 days a week, for 6 days. I'm surprised he hasn't found him a stay away cricket camp though.

HalsallRedux · 02/08/2016 21:27

Dumdedum I've posted despairingly about Kirsty's mystifying silence a couple of times. AFAIK, the call to WA (or equivalent) which she was going to make, ooh, a few months ago has never been mentioned again.

Still, no rush, eh? Hmm

TheAntiBoop · 02/08/2016 21:30

I had forgotten about Kirsty!!

Gumpendorf · 02/08/2016 21:31

Halsall and Dumdedum
Kirsty mentioned the call to Tom who mentioned it to Anna. Anna asked Helen for permission to contact WA to confirm a call was made. We don't know yet how Helen replied.

HalsallRedux · 02/08/2016 21:41

Ah right, thanks Gumpendorf. Must have forgotten that as my patience with the glacial pace of this SL has slowly drained away.

Shallishanti · 02/08/2016 22:30

But Shula told Alistair Rob was intimidating- surely that would both explain her lying AND underline his controlling nature
hah
all it takes for evil to triumph etc etc

EBearhug · 02/08/2016 22:34

The call has definitely been mentioned, because two or three weeks ago, Anna was asking Helen about it, and whether she would give permission for Anna to talk to WA about it, and Helen got a bit panicky, and kept going on about how she was promised what she said would be confidential, and I think Anna may have been a tad frustrated.
