A once-great soap is going down the Beverley drain.

I have sought you out because I caught parts of episodes for the first time in a long while today and earlier in the week.

I was hoping you were as disgusted at the Pip/Toby shennigans as I am. I am not disappointed Grin

It'll be Jill in the kitchen and she'll be all disappointed in Pip or Rooth and she'll laugh manically which was her response to every comment made by Pip and Deevid about the pasture disaster.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 22/07/2016 17:57

I had a fwb 11 years ago in my twenties

Shallishanti · 22/07/2016 19:07

come on, Peggy!!!!

enochroot · 22/07/2016 19:10

Is Shula going to recall the SAB incident at long last?

Shallishanti · 22/07/2016 19:11

yes! ask Ian!

TheAntiBoop · 22/07/2016 19:12

They really are slow witted aren't they. Like all of them. It takes months for them to remember anything.

At least it is all coming together in Helens head now.

Shallishanti · 22/07/2016 19:12

yes, at last 'he slapped me'

what about the rape???

TheAntiBoop · 22/07/2016 19:14

Is Toby a sociopath?

He encourages his brother to go after pip, knows how much he likes her but decided he will shag her anyway and then discourage Rex from pursuing her. He clearly doesn't understand the concept of like someone beyond liking the idea of shagging them

ColdTeaAgain · 22/07/2016 19:16

Oh Helen...

Stickerrocks · 22/07/2016 19:17

I don't understand why she is so reluctant to give information to protect herself in court. Any psychologists out there?

TheAntiBoop · 22/07/2016 19:18

Why won't she tell about the rapes? That's why jay she mentioned in the call to the helpline which she obviously doesn't wan people to know. But didn't she mention it to Kirsty or infer it?

I'm guessing this is being highlighted as it will be the thing that turns the case in her favour. Ultimately Anna just needs the jury to believe Helen could have been in fear of her life and she would do that by showing his behaviour. The jury don't actually need to know what really happened (as the way it was staged didn't imply she was scared for her safety but that it was an accident after he put the knife in her hand). Iyswim

DoctorTwo · 22/07/2016 19:28

I fully expect a CA in the not too distant future will say "Adam and Brine enthuse again about the no till method, and Pip gets a facial". :o Envy :o

OhTheRoses · 22/07/2016 19:33

Well Rob the knob tilled without consent. Brewing nicely at last I'd say. He'll be witnessed losing it with Henwee. Crosses all fingers and toes. And Jess will reappear. My glass is always half full.

chattygranny · 22/07/2016 19:41

What barrister wouldn't contact the ex wife (or did I miss something?) to get evidence of his abusive character and why hasn't the barrister spoken to Kisrty (or have they as I have been too busy to listen sometimes and sometimes found it unbearable (after 34 years!) don't forget Helen was always hugely fragile - anorexic and in so many ways so I think she was a classic victim for a bully like Rob. I've found his mother stresses my acceptance of disbelief though...

SealSong · 22/07/2016 19:52

This whole 'Helen being in denial' thing is getting very stale now. Yawn.

Re Pip+Fairbrethren, I fear we are being set up for a tedious pregnancy love triangle a-la-Eastenders. I predict Pip will drunkenly sleep with Rex soon then it will be all 'who is the father' nonsense.

JudyCoolibar · 22/07/2016 20:17

Investigating and digging out evidence isn't actually the job of a barrister. It's down to the solicitor to do all that.

JudyCoolibar · 22/07/2016 20:23

When Tom said he wished he could do more for Helen, I was shouting at the radio for him to check the books at the bloody shop, and persuade Justin to do the same with the farm books. And will someone please give David and Jenny a kick up the backside about the culvert blocking saga? They really need to kill Rob's reputation as Hero of the Flood.

Minimammoth · 22/07/2016 20:26

To admit Rob raped her, abused her, means that she made a mistake, she picked the wrong man, again. That must be hard.

Trojanhorsebox · 22/07/2016 20:46

To admit Rob raped her, abused her, means that she made a mistake, she picked the wrong man, again. That must be hard.

I agree, but I certainly don't have the patience to do Anna's job - I'd be thinking, fine don't give me information, but we're working to a deadline and unless you give me something I can build a case on, you're looking at spending several years in jail and Rob getting both kids - OK with you is it, bye then.........hopefully I wouldn't be saying it quite like that, but surely someone needs to Sad

OhTheRoses · 22/07/2016 21:11

I'm having flashbacks to some of dh's big cases. Not criminal tbf. But, lots of "this witness statement doesn't make sense, where are the papers that back it up? This client has paid x0000's to x solicitor, they need to pull their finger out and earn their crust. You know, how the solicitor engages the barrister to argue the case, whilst the solicitor does the leg work.

Minimammoth · 22/07/2016 21:17

It all looks very different from the legal work point of view ohtheroses, it must be frustrating.

Gumpendorf · 22/07/2016 21:26

To admit Rob raped her, abused her, means that she made a mistake, she picked the wrong man, again. That must be hard.

It's also an acknowledgement that Jack was conceived after a rape. Helen was probably more able to accept that before Jack's birth. She has bonded with Jack now and she might be thinking of the long term impact on him.

Amazingly an episode when people started to remember stuff.

And will Pip hurt Jill most with her Fairbrother dalliance? Hmm

R4 · 22/07/2016 21:32

I'm with you trojan. Helen and Anna had a conversation the other day where Anna suggested standing down and Helen asked her to stay on. If it was me I would be saying to H that if she wanted me to stay on then H needs to giving more material because there is stuff all to base a defence on. Speak, or I'm off the case!Angry
I'd be no good at legal work, I do not have the patience.

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/07/2016 21:44

Moike's going to make a great character witness isn't he?

"Yes, Your Honour, Imcan vouch for her character all right - she ran me down when she was drunk driving and then got her brother to take the blame"

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/07/2016 21:44

Imcan = I can
