A once-great soap is going down the Beverley drain.

Pip annoyed me far more than she usually does tonight. i know it would hurt Rex but she hasn't even been able to tell him that she's shagging Toby - it will come out and there will be a family fall out. Instead of which she's making lame excuses that a sleeping toddler could see straight through ffs not checked my diary - oh ye of the hectic social whirl! 🙄

Gherkinsmummy · 19/07/2016 22:35

Is anyone else bored of the current stories? My six year old DS was very excitedly jumping around to the theme music the other day - a year ago I'd have been so proud but I was like 'meh'.

TheAntiBoop · 19/07/2016 22:43

I only listen if the radio happens to be on r4 and switch over if rob comes on. Don't rush to read lowfield or this thread as much. Can't really get that excited about much. Spend more time on the tayto thread. That's how low I've sunk!

PatrickMcGinty · 19/07/2016 23:18

Me too Anti. What's the tayto thread please?

Gherkinsmummy · 19/07/2016 23:27

Is it anything to do with Hiddleswift?

TheAntiBoop · 19/07/2016 23:45

Yes gherkins. Although more a group of out of touch oldies who don't quite understand these young uns

ppeatfruit · 20/07/2016 09:10

But Pip knows Rex fancies her because Alice mentioned the way he was looking at her when they were at an exhibition of something.

dairyfarmerswife · 20/07/2016 10:02

Ugh the plate metering stuff was rubbish. One person measures the whole farm every week and makes decisions on what to cut for silage, where to graze cows. You don't just go out and measure the next three fields, you measure them all to work out what fields are next. And it seems highly unlikely that David cut the silage on his own- surely Ruth and Pip knew he was doing it?! That said, we are short of grass here because we couldn't get 2nd cut in due to the wet weather, and so get out and graze those paddocks again, and as grass growth has slowed we have had to speed up the rotation, so for a minute there I was nodding along...

Rex is a bit of a love sick puppy though, he can't take a hint, can he. Actually during the first conversation I thought Toby was going to pop up from behind the hedge as soon as Rex drove away Grin

TheAntiBoop · 20/07/2016 10:10

If pip didn't know he fancied her she wouldn't be doing the schoolgirl avoiding. So she is actually being quite cruel.

Interesting infor DFW. Maybe David is a ninja grass cutter

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 20/07/2016 11:24

Pip is so awful in every way - badly written, poorly acted with a voice that feels like nails down a blackboard, and even apart from that, just a horrible horrible irritating person.

The worst thing is, I swear we're supposed to like her.

enochroot · 20/07/2016 12:37

I think you're right. We are supposed to think Pip is wonderful in every way but I wanted to slap her last night when she was telling off David.

redshoeblueshoe · 20/07/2016 12:53

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Pipsqueak is a bitch, I think she's deliberately treating Rex like that because she is intending to shag him when she is finished with Tobes. [vomit]
I clearly missed the episode where they decided she is the boss - enoch I wanted to slap her too Grin
As for the organic baby food . . . .

TheAntiBoop · 20/07/2016 13:01

Pip is just a horrible person. I can't see any good in her at all. Whoever has written her and thinks she is sympathetic must lack any empathetic qualities or know any people other than soc

Gruach · 20/07/2016 19:07

So ... have I missed something? Surely the Aldridges have a cleaner (or two)? Why would there be any danger of Jenny having to clean yurts?Confused

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/07/2016 19:17

Loved that last scene. That's The Archers I've known and loved all my adult life. Smile

Mootsie · 20/07/2016 19:21

Hurrah for Fallon! TA has been soooooo boring lately.

BlackeyedSusan · 20/07/2016 20:52

so not team lynda

good for Fallon

R4 · 20/07/2016 21:09

I think that Fallon might come a cropper. The cricket teas weren't the walk in the park that she thought that they would be. However, I expect her to follow Lynda's tradition ... it's nearly a disaster but, somehow, it all comes together in the end.Grin

Stickerrocks · 20/07/2016 21:09

This could be more dramatic than the stabbing. Pistols at dawn.

JessieMcJessie · 20/07/2016 22:54

TheAntiBoop picking up on something you said a couple of pages ago, Pat and Tony DO actually have an on-air history of going on foreign holidays to European resort type places. It sticks in my mind because I always think it's a bit out of character for them, but I am positive they have done it before, more than once. I think they went away at the end of Tony's recuperation though, annoyingly, I can't remember where. Possibly Madeira?

TheAntiBoop · 20/07/2016 22:55

Yes that's true - but I remember it because I'm sure a big deal was made of it?

R4 · 20/07/2016 23:26

Good old Lowfield: last May PnT went on a cruise round the Med.

ppeatfruit · 21/07/2016 09:17

The Aldridges DID have a cleaner Gruach She left ? There is never a mention of one now though. But why would one stoop to talking about the lady 'wot does' ?

Emma's old cleaning clients are not mentioned either, did she give them all up when the Tshop business took off?

ppeatfruit · 21/07/2016 09:20

I got a feeling that Pip's bossy madam act was the SWs clumsily making Rex think again about his feelings for her. Was his comment admiring or not? Is he a masochist? Grin

CeciledeVolanges · 21/07/2016 10:58

Delurking for very little reason to say: Rex is still in business with his brother and voluntarily converses with Pip. No other comments on his masochistic tendencies seem necessary...
