Orange Is The New Black in Ambridge. Just ask Helen. But will anyone in The Archers ever ask her WHY?

I reckon this thread will see us through the Euros, both footy and referendum. Await the clunky topical inserts here.

I'd love to see Susan make s huge success of the shop and quadruple the sales of sausages. Maybe then thick Tony will cotton on to the fact that Knob was running down the shop, as he was his wife.

Scarydinosaurs · 28/06/2016 09:33

Susan winds me right up. I hope Pat brings in Anya the saviour soon. She's going to blow this case wide open!

SaraTheFairy · 28/06/2016 09:38

Just listened to last night's episode. Jeez. Thought I'd nodded off and woken up in an episode of the moral maze.

Gruach · 28/06/2016 09:55

But it was nonsensical to put some of that dialogue into Susan's mouth. "None of them have any retail talent ..." (Something like that.) Susan saw the Borchester shop running excellently for years prior to the appearance of Rob. Indeed it was Helen's success at selling her cheese, and the familiy's business acumen with regard to the rest of the farm produce sold there that has kept Susan employed in the dairy.

Sometimes I just don't understand the SWs ...

ppeatfruit · 28/06/2016 12:45

But Gruach when has the truth played any part in beatchy big mouthed unthinking opinions like Susan's?

NotdeadyetBOING · 28/06/2016 12:52

Apologies - have not RTFT for ages. Caught up in Brexit angst.

Just wanted to say - I really don't give a flying XXXX about your hairstyle, Helen. Just open your mouth and say what happened. FFS.

And breeeeathe……….

EBearhug · 28/06/2016 13:18

Just wanted to say - I really don't give a flying XXXX about your hairstyle, Helen.

Now, now. How someone looks is really important on the radio. Wink

But its things like the haircut that will give Rob the rage hopefully lots of little things will make him go ballistic, then everyone can see him for what he is.

NotdeadyetBOING · 28/06/2016 13:52

Ah - maybe you're right, Red.

Just finding all the matey stuff with Caz and bonding over Jayden/Jack slightly patronising & incidental when the BIG ISSUE (i.e. - her actually telling her barrister what happened in her marriage/that night) is being ignored.

expatvet · 28/06/2016 14:21

^^ quite... its so annoying...

s someone mentioned upthread... why on earth do p&t think they've got a good case to keep Henwee... they've got no-one fighting for them and no evidence of ANYTHING against Rob

humph... want some good escapism from the brexit gloom and TA is just delivering annoyance!

is Helen going to suddenly wake up and start talking tomorrow after Henwee goes to Rob full time? She should be fighting NOW!

Gruach · 28/06/2016 14:28

The Birth Charter and the Archers effect.

(From Clinks.org via the BBC blog.)

JudyCoolibar · 28/06/2016 14:48

Notdeadyet, I think to be fair that Helen's constant evasion of the issue of what happened is very typical of women in her situation, so to that extent I think the scriptwriters have got it right. However, what I can't understand is why someone hasn't brought in a psychiatrist, and why her stupid family isn't doing more digging around to find out what has been going on.

Fink · 28/06/2016 15:46

Oh, Gruach, I really wish I hadn't read that link. It reveals that Michael Gove is an avid TA fan. As if politics weren't bad enough at the moment, I now have something in common with Gove. Sad

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 28/06/2016 19:57

It may be accurate of some women in that position but I think for a lot of women they talk about it a lot only to find that no one is listening. Or no one that needs to listen.

There is a slight danger that she will become the template for abuse victims and if women do not act like her they won't be considered credible.

I think her issues stem from being unable to reconcile what has happened with who she believes she is.

R4 · 28/06/2016 20:51

Adam and Lillian were discussing which one of them was the most glowiest.
Adam hasn't got a clue what present he got for Feebs' 18th because Ian chose it.

Anyone think that all is not well at Honeysuckle Cottage and Adam is up to his old tricks again?

TheSilveryPussycat · 28/06/2016 21:04

I actually listened to tonight's episode - the first for many a long week.

I enjoyed it, somewhat to my surprise, and have hopes I might be able to reliably distinguish the Fairbrethren if I keep listening.

For tomorrow's happenings I'll be relying on you lot, though...

JudyCoolibar · 28/06/2016 22:28

I think if Adam were roaming again it would have been signalled by now, given that he goes after every gay man who turns up in the village.

For the first time (I think) we were treated to no less than two sets of Helen's relatives actually discussing her rather than carrying on as if nothing were happened. Given that the SWs also seem to be signalling that she is beginning to come out of the fog, let's hope this is the beginning of some sort of action over and above this week's hearing. Fingers crossed.

JudyCoolibar · 28/06/2016 22:28

Sorry, appalling English. Carrying on as if nothing had happened, not were happened.

BlackeyedSusan · 28/06/2016 23:18

yuk

BlackeyedSusan · 28/06/2016 23:18

sorry that was in rsponse to something in common with gove

TheSilveryPussycat · 29/06/2016 00:08

Yes the discussions by relatives were well done, I thought, and one reason I was pleasantly surprised.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 29/06/2016 01:18

That was a terrible episode.

TheSilveryPussycat · 29/06/2016 09:00

What didn't you like? I didn't even mind Pip's voice - perhaps the voice I've conjured up from reading the thread is worse than the actual thing?

ppeatfruit · 29/06/2016 09:35

That's true Silvery This thread is often very negative Grin
