Orange Is The New Black in Ambridge. Just ask Helen. But will anyone in The Archers ever ask her WHY?

I reckon this thread will see us through the Euros, both footy and referendum. Await the clunky topical inserts here.

OP posts:

Yes, I would put money on him mentioning it to Ursula and making a nasty remark about her lesbian tendencies being more obvious now she's in a women's prison.

LillianGish · 20/06/2016 19:26

Her getting a new haircut is actually very significant because Knob used to control the way she wore her hair.

R4 · 20/06/2016 19:32

What happened there? After weeks of hysterical meltdowns and "it's too hard sob sob sob" she just told someone down the phone, in a perfectly rational manner.Confused Is this due to the influence of Kaz?

enochroot · 20/06/2016 19:36

Most likely due to having two months away from Rob. I think she's beginning to understand what he's done to her.
I wasn't sure who she was speaking to but at least she's told someone something.

Mootsie · 20/06/2016 19:37

Could somebody please tell me who Helen was talking to on the phone?

I'm a long time lurker. Love reading TA threads as they're so funny. Keep up the good work.

LillianGish · 20/06/2016 19:42

Was just coming on here to post the same thing enoch. I think she is turning back into herself after going cold turkey in a way she could never have done if she hadn't been in prison.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/06/2016 19:44

CAFCASS worker, Mootsie. I think she has to represent Henry's interests at the court hearing.

Gruach · 20/06/2016 19:45

CAFCASS

And the link is to their page talking about Helen.

GeorgeTheThird · 20/06/2016 19:46

Helen has just been asked whether she ever thought Rob was a risk to Henry. She definitely didn't say, yes, he went at him angrily, just before I stabbed him.

LillianGish · 20/06/2016 19:52

Great link Gruach - if only she were really presiding over the case. I'm still hoping Knob's drumming on of "Telling lies is wrong" will come back and bite him on the arse when Henwee is questioned.

enochroot · 20/06/2016 19:54

That's an interesting link. Thank you.
So the CAFCASS person has been alerted to the possibility of coercive control and will be speaking to Henry before the hearing. Let's hope Rob's efforts to turn him against his mother are picked up on. Let's also hope that Rob gives himself away in some form though I suspect that for dramatic purposes any loss of self control on his part will take place at the hearing. He has form for losing it when he's thwarted.

TheAntiBoop · 20/06/2016 19:58

It would be really nice if we saw professionals behaving in a realistic and positive manner

BlackeyedSusan · 20/06/2016 20:14

well the cafcass worker was ok as far as I could tell while driving. lets hope that soc does not meddle too much messing up real life into overly dramatic... I mean it is not like he has form for that or anything. [eyeroll]

BlackeyedSusan · 20/06/2016 20:18

the thing is we will have rob saying that the inlaws can not look after henry as they do not do reading,
they prefer to visit their other grandson than keep contact.
they do not return him on time. (pot kettle black)
their kitchen is messy

BluePitchFork · 20/06/2016 20:22

'custody' hearing: sorry there is no child called gideon. case dismissed.

Gruach · 20/06/2016 20:26

Actually - Rob is going to look mighty odd at the hearing when he insists on calling Jack by a different name.

And then fumes aloud that he and his mother were not consulted. She had no right ...

Mootsie · 20/06/2016 20:43

Thanks for the link, Grauch. It will be interesting to hear what poor little brainwashed Henry tells them.

TheAntiBoop · 20/06/2016 20:56

I'm still shocked that PR can be obtained so easily and the mother has no right to revoke.

No checks have been done on knob at all yet they are happily leaving Henry in his care. He could be anyone

TheAntiBoop · 20/06/2016 20:57

And I'm also shocked that Henry isn't able to see Helen until after trial

Gumpendorf · 20/06/2016 20:58

I was wondering when the name conflict would be considered and by whom, Grauch.

JessieMcJessie · 20/06/2016 21:12

The Grundies always knew that they were only getting to live in GF for as long as Caroline and Oliver were in Italy. Caroline and Olivwr were clear they intended to return. Joe does not have dementia?

So where in God's name has all this nonsense come from about Joe thinking he would "see out his days at Grange Farm" come from? Did he think he was going to die of happiness a few weeks after they moved in?

While I can see the dramatic potential of them having had a moment of happiness in their own home and then te sadness of leaving it again, why is it being portrayed a a perfectly reasonable expectation for Joe to have had? Utter nonsense.

JessieMcJessie · 20/06/2016 21:13

Their old home, not own home.

JudyCoolibar · 20/06/2016 21:48

I fear that Rob will inevitably be bringing in the business with the bull to show how dangerous it is for Henry to be at Bridge Farm. I hope Anna has the sense to cross examine him about why he was happy to leave him there so often despite that.

I don't think that there was any inconsistency in Helen being able to tell the CAFCASS person more than others. She is just beginning to recover from the trauma and the effects of Rob's control, as demonstrated by the fact that she was able to relax enough to breastfeed and is beginning to think about her appearance in court. I suppose she was also more relaxed as a result of Caz's reassurance beforehand.

2rebecca · 20/06/2016 23:13

I wondered why Eddie thought Joe was about to imminently peg it with all the dying at Grange farm nonsense.
They were there for a few months, that was always the arrangement.

EBearhug · 20/06/2016 23:40

And Joe's been about to SOTMC from his farmer's lung for about the last 3 decades or so (when it suits him.) Death has always been imminent.
