I've just browsed Lowfield for the first time - they really don't like Pat do they!

She is being gracious because that is his baby.

But maybe she is also being a bit sly. Here is a picture of your baby that you cannot see but that I have seen. The lovely Jack Archer.

Well you canmot complain and say we aren't telling you anything because unlike you we are decent people

apart from the stabbing thing

R4 · 29/05/2016 22:04

snurk @ 'apart from the stabbing thing'.
They could equally well say that you have treated us badly - you treated Helen so badly that she turned into a stabby thing - and we don't know how to cope with people like that so we'll keep our distance tyvm. As Kirsty said, they've gone beyond civilised/polite.

TopazRocks · 29/05/2016 22:14

I'm holding onto the question over what Helen told the psychiatrist. All she told Knob/us was she told 'the truth'. Of course for psych to be useful the legal team would have to talk to him/her.

Surely the Bridge Farm people can speak up that BF did not need saving [by Rob] - though I imagine an examination of the books would suggest they are sailing close to the wind, like many family farms - and they have had all those mishaps. e.g. Tony's accident followed by the business over Helen. and the shop being shut. Maybe the Ambridge finance Fairy can help out.

TopazRocks · 29/05/2016 22:22

Yeah, i said last week I think Knob if he gets the baby's notcustody will just call him Gideon anyway. I hope they don't have a drama over the registration of the birth. There's enough drama and potential drama already.

But I am mightily pleased to see here(a few pages ago) that menopausal women can eat cake ......

enochroot · 29/05/2016 23:13

Why is there a brother Miles?
He hasn't appeared once yet. Thus far his only purpose has been to be mentioned darkly by Rob as the reason for his supposedly unhappy childhood.
Is he going to feature significantly at any time? Does he, God help him, take after either of his parents? Does he hate Rob as much as Rob hates him? Is he to be denied his rightful inheritance by baby Gideon?
If none of the above, why is there a Miles at all?
After all, we are listening to The Archers, not The Titcheners.

I digress but this has irritated me for some time.

enochroot · 29/05/2016 23:22

Sorry, I've had more of my usual intake of wine.

I'm tired of Rob's family and back story which is patchy and contradictory. I want Rob exposed as a plain, no excuses acceptable, abuser who will be banged up for a very long time.

AugustaFinkNottle · 29/05/2016 23:58

Agree about Rob's family. No-one has once challenged him on how he made out his family were evil yet suddenly his mother is this sainted woman who is the world's greatest living expert on childbirth. Why, FFS? I get the distinct feeling SOC thinks he's being terribly clever stringing us along with all this stuff and he's going to bring it all together in some amazingly clever climax (unless he decides to pretend it never happened). However, it's just annoying that in order to achieve that he's making virtually everyone in Ambridge out to be unbelievably dense and self-absorbed so they never ask the obvious questions.

enochroot · 30/05/2016 00:28

Exactly, Augusta. The dinner with his parents that never happened because they didn't turn up but were probably never invited was a turning point in Pat and Tony's perception of him because he spun a sob story about them being such awful parents.
If Ursula was such a dreadful mother to Rob then how come he's keen for her to look after Henry now? Couldn't Pat have recalled that at the child-custody hearing?

TopazRocks · 30/05/2016 01:19

But would an abuser get banged up for 'a long time'? My impression was it was just a few years, 4 or 5. Less in fact than an attempted murderess-type, no? I agree though - the Titchener family saga has holes (like an old soc?!) and is nonsense.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 30/05/2016 08:06

No they don't get banged up for years. Often they don't get banged up at all. Although he might get a couple of years for the sexual offences.

Legally, what she did, if convicted, is far worse. (And I suspect she might be treated more harshly because she is female).

The dinner no show can be explained by Bruce being thoroughly unpleasant. So Ursula superficially nice but under the control of Bruce. Not many ppl know about it anyway.

LillianGish · 30/05/2016 10:13

I hope Helen has managed to register the birth before Peggy goes round blabbing to Arsula and Knob. Anyone remember when the registrar was due to make a visit? I'm v concerned that Knob and Arsula have Henwee as their hostage - surprised he didn't mention the baby being called Gideon during his visit to Bridge Farm. It's just occurred to me as I type this that this plot has some similarities with Rich changing his name to Johnny when he moved to Bridge Farm.

AugustaFinkNottle · 30/05/2016 10:30

Knob could explain the dinner no show by blaming it on Bruce, but not the fact that at the time he very expressly said that it was both his parents who were horrible people with whom he wanted nothing to do, IIRC.

CheesyWeez · 30/05/2016 10:32

It was on Friday night that Helen said that the registrar would come to the M&BU. She moved there on Friday afternoon right? So the earliest possible registrar moment will be Tuesday morning, I suppose. I imagine Rob will be at the Register Office when it opens on Tuesday too, especially if Henry or Peggy have blabbed about Jack. Hoping the wrong name will sting Helen into saying what happened and her family and friends getting organized for her.

BYOSnowman · 30/05/2016 10:35

Given rob getting residence order for Henry didn't push her into action will rob registering the name?

Minimammoth · 30/05/2016 10:36

We never here Ursula talking or wondering what is happening 'back home' do we?

EBearhug · 30/05/2016 10:39

But I am mightily pleased to see here(a few pages ago) that menopausal women can eat cake ......

Special cake with lots of healthy seeds and stuff. Not gooey chocolate cake. Grin

(You can eat whatever cake you want.)

AugustaFinkNottle · 30/05/2016 10:43

What bemuses me is that, a week after My Son was born, Knob has apparently made no attempt whatsoever to go to see him. Really? Surely he's not that unwell, otherwise he really shouldn't ever be left in charge of a boisterous 5 year old.

I know absolutely nothing about normal practice in such cases, but surely the hospital or MBU would have been happy to send him a photo if he wanted one? So I'm not sure why Peggy assumes he won't have one.

theredjellybean · 30/05/2016 11:33

augusta...i have thought this too...about Rob being too ill to attend the court for the residency hearing...what court in their right mind would award custody to a parent so ill they could not actually get to the court, and thus actually give custody and the caring responsibilty to a older lady who is now caring for a too ill to get up 40 something and a 5 yr old???

oh i am so fed up with this bloody stupid nonscence

redshoeblueshoe · 30/05/2016 11:44

BOOP for Absurdam - that made me laugh

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 30/05/2016 13:14

I think cases where a mother is on remand in MBU and the father actually wants contact with the child and is considered suitable to have contact are pretty rareSad

EBearhug · 30/05/2016 19:09

Surely they're not actually forbidden from contact on non-contact days, if they happen all to be at the same village event

GypsyFl0ss · 30/05/2016 19:12

Hahahaha " compare and contrast". SOC I reckon you're a lurker.

KingscoteStaff · 30/05/2016 19:14

Go Johnny!

GypsyFl0ss · 30/05/2016 19:15

OMG. I will kill you myself Knob.

Gruach · 30/05/2016 19:15

Not a good episode if the sound of Rob's voice makes you feel sick ...
