I do hope Lynda has a carbon monoxide monitor in there...

Sorry about this. TASWAMA!

enochroot · 19/04/2016 22:56

Nothing's really changed.
Helen's in a different kind of prison and still thinks she's useless.
Rob's still got the upper hand as always.
Everyone thinks he's a martyr.
PatnTone continue to jump to his tune.

Putthetulipsthere · 19/04/2016 23:30

Rob and Pat sounded just like Rob and Helen. Incredibly disturbing.

Yes I think Rob is moving back to Bloody Hell Cottage. And at this rate, I think Pat and Tony will be quite happy with that given their concern for poor Rob. They can check on him regularly and Henry can move back in with Daddy.

Many thanks for new thread Psuedo, great title! I'll be lurking a fair bit in future as I know I'm not going to be listening for a while. 😔

Putthetulipsthere · 19/04/2016 23:36

And what's so annoying is that SOC will be praised in the media for the latest twist in the SL. 🙁🙁

Will turn to Shambridge from now on 😀

glowfrog · 19/04/2016 23:41

Words I think you are right to say that in real life, people don't always manage to be what their loved ones need them to be. And if my daughter was arrested for the attempted murder of her husband because apparently he was abusive and I had no idea - well, I'm sure I would be a bit of a mess, to say the least.

The issue with Pat, however, is that her current behaviour doesn't seem to ring true to her character - and this is a character who has been around for a long time.

I can't speak for the others but personally the reason why I'm starting to get pissed off about what is happening is because up to the stabbing, it was all convincing. And enthralling. It was all one Public Service Broadcast and all about the awareness. And it feels like we all got emotionally involved for no good reason because Ho-Ho-Ho apparently it's entertainment and drama and therefore we will have stabbings and people acting out of character and unicorns. Why the f*ck not, at this point?.

The writers know their limitations, including the fact they can't have a 5 year-old talk about mummy stabbing daddy, or even a child actor who can sound like they are 5 years-old. So why are they persisting with putting Henry at the centre of it all? It's utterly ridiculous and makes it all sound implausible.

CrackerChops · 19/04/2016 23:50

Hang on, just noticed a couple of posters suggesting Henwee might have stabbed Rob. I'd never thought of that before...surely not, though? He wouldn't have the strength to do it more than once Shock

R4 · 20/04/2016 00:05

If Henry did the stabbing instead of Helen then the angle of entry would be totally different because of their different heights. Wouldn't the Police have noticed that?

Wordsaremything · 20/04/2016 00:23

Fair points well made glowfrog

CuttedUpPear · 20/04/2016 00:26

Fucking shitty writing.

The SWs managed to get Kirsty banned from seeing Helen's solicitor (barrister?) because of influence; they are treating Henry as a main witness so noone is allowed to ask him about the stabbing - yet he can go and talk to the defendant???

I give up.
Nonsense it is.

AugustaFinkNottle · 20/04/2016 00:29

Rob isn't a defendant. In legal terms, he is currently a victim and another witness.

Seriously, in RL, if a woman is seriously attacked by her partner so that he is prosecuted, would we really expect her to be barred from seeing her children because they witnessed the attack?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 20/04/2016 00:39

Is Henwee played by an actual child? He's so unconvincing I assumed they press ganged any random passong actor.

If Henwee ran straight at Knob with a knife wouldn't it be possible he would hit the bowel region? Have they done the forensic analysis? What is Helen keeping quiet about?

CrackerChops · 20/04/2016 00:47

R4 Yes I see what you mean. Still, it would have made for quite an interesting twist...albeit quite hideous, as if it wasn't that already.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 20/04/2016 00:55

What is Helen keeping quiet about?

Helen may not be defending herself because she believes there is no defence for what she did.

She was only just coming to realise she was abused. IME That realisation switches on and off, true, not true. Over and over again. And aside from.Kirsty she has had no one validate that for her.

And she knows she has done something terrible and hard to justify.

Her main concern is that what she did has damaged Henry to badly. Hence the "I got him to watch a dvd". All she wants just now is for Henry to forget what happened.

AugustaFinkNottle · 20/04/2016 00:56

I wonder whether SOC has read this report?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 20/04/2016 01:11

Actually thinking about I'm not 100% sure Henwee is played by a real human being at all. They could use one of those virtual assistant phone apps.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 20/04/2016 01:16

Augusta What an astonishing report ! Well done that man.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 20/04/2016 01:26

Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC is well worth googling btw.

Eastpoint · 20/04/2016 04:21

This newspaper article, from the Daily Mirror, reflects well on Judge Durham Hall.

Thank you Lass for finding him & Pseudo for the new thread.

StubbleTurnips · 20/04/2016 06:12

I wonder if Henry goes back to live with Rob he'll end up at Boarding School.

GypsyFl0ss · 20/04/2016 06:15

I can't believe that the social worker hasn't been involved more. They should be all over this family like a rash and certainly should have been part of the contact with Rob session. In RL I'd have been in there in my role too and definitely would have been suggesting to PatnTone that they should be taking legal and social work advice before trotting off to Borchester General .
SOC is just allowing utter bollocks. Again.

BeauGlacons · 20/04/2016 07:21

Gypsy whilst I agree with you that they should be there one has only to look at the high profile cases where they have done diddly squat to not be surprised. More surprising to me is that as middle class, landowners and business people, who are well connected in their county, why are Pat and Tony not seeking more professional advice about everything to do with this.

vixsatis · 20/04/2016 07:30

Yesterday's episode was perhaps the worst yet. Having been told that Henry is a key witness there is no way that Pat and Tone would take him to see Rob without consulting the lawyers. Hearing SOC on BH I have a horrible feeling that H will be found guilty but the conviction will be overturned on appeal- we have weeks of everyone being blind. I can't believe that Jess has not contacted police- I thought that would have been the point of stressing that the stabbing was reported in the national press

Gruach · 20/04/2016 07:46

One of the things I find hardest to understand is how isolated they are portraying Pat and Tony to be. Don't know if this is a failure of imagination, poor time management or a determination to work with a completely unbalanced script - but to me it's inconceivable that the close family members surrounding them would just carry on with normal life, laughing and joking and going to the pub. Why aren't they all camped out on the Bridge Farm doorstep? "If there's anything I can do" is completely inadequate in this situation.

Actually - I guess it's a failure of culture; neither the editor nor the writers concerned actually understand what living as part of a community actually means.

BertrandRussell · 20/04/2016 07:48

Never mind not knowing what a community is- they don't seem to know what a family is!

And, ffs, where's the social worker? And Rob just rang and they took Henry straight there? Utterly bizarre.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 20/04/2016 08:18

Jess must be abroad on holidayHmm
