Following on from a comment by DadDadDad on the spoilers thread, any predictions for the birth?

D3 has already picked 6 May.

I'm going for 13 May, 6lb 2 oz, Jonathan.

I think she's in Labour now.

In Labour? Then, maybe Jeremy Corbyn will take up her plight....

She's doomed. Grin

I'm clinging to the hope that they doctor they've called is a psychiatrist.

I haven't a clue when sprog will arrive, but I am holding out for girl, and a very little one at that. Definitely no more than 6 lbs. Maybe hellen will bond better with a girl, esp if the father has less interest. Maybe not .... Anyway I'm not sure we've ever been told the weight of an Ambridge babe before. It has to come in the next week. Have we ever been told whereabouts Helen is in prison?

BTW the baby's birth would be registered in the area he/she was born in, and I think special arrangements would be made for the registrar to visit Helen in the clink or hospital to do the paperwork. Knob wouldn't be involved. His name would go on the BC as the couple are married. But I wouldn't put it past Ursula, if Knob subsequently gets custody, encouraging him to change the name later.

Topaz if Borsetshire is Worcestershire in RL then she'd be in Eastwood Park. It's the women's prison for all of the south west up as far as Birmingham and Wales. They have a mother & baby unit too. I believe it's quite hard to get into the mother & baby unit, there aren't enough spaces.

Since nobody has picked 16th May, I'll pick that, and I am going to say it will be a girl, 6lb 3 oz, Margaret (nn Peggy).

(I have picked my DD's birth weight but I am not going to pick her birth date despite being a May baby because it's too late sadly).

19th May
6lbs 1oz
Charlotte, as she gave her first baby a royal type name...

I'm hoping it'll be a girl after the very-early scan and Knob only accepting what he wants. Knob probably mistook the umbilical cord for the willy. I think Knob said, "it was obvious from the scan" rather than "the doctor said..." And Helen was just totally disinterested (not that anybody noticed at the time).

Oh sorry I'll have to change to May 22nd, 19th is taken, PeasandCheeseTeaPleaseLouise!
I know that's a Sunday but I think she might go into Labour at the end of the Friday episode. It might be unclear then whether the baby is born on Saturday or Sunday. Custardgate was a bit confusing as to what day it was supposed to be, so I fear more confusion.

Don't worry, Augusta, we'll give you the credit not these Jenny-come-latelies making predictions with the benefit of half the dates having passed and spoiler information available on other threads. Wink

(Says the guy who predicted 6 May, sitting here munching his sour grapes)

Sorry Augusta, so you did. You got first dibs. What name do you think it will be though?
Maybe Robert or Ursula? Grin Actually I suppose that could happen, it depends who gets up to the register office first. Confused

officerhinrika · 18/05/2016 21:05

AFAIK the Registrar goes to the prison so the name should all be down to Helen.

No new entries are now being accepted as her waters have broken.

It won't necessarily be tonight though will it? Or does the clock start ticking when your waters break and they only let you labour for a certain length of time. I have a vague memory of something like that from nct classes.

Strangely, we only had one guess for today - and that was Lilian who hedged by saying it was this or 13th. No-one guessed 21st, and Augusta said 22nd, so I don't think anyone's covering themselves with glory.

Well it will either be Saturday, Sunday or Monday at a push! I'll trawl back through the contenders.

So Rob is calling him Gideon Robert Titchener, born Saturday 21 May, no weight announced. I think Helen may have things to say about that.

Lillian had 20th & Augusta 22nd. Nobody picked 21st. No votes for Gideon, but we have to wait & see what Helen decides to call him. Off to look up "what if parents can't agree a baby name".

Did you get anywhere, sticker? I can see that you have a year to enter a name so if you can't agree the name can actually be left blank (or any name entered can be changed in that first year). But i can't see what happens if the one year is reached and it's still blank. Can the registrar make the decision? And would they just prefer the mother's choice at that point?

Report
Stickerrocks · 22/05/2016 22:20

Either parent can register the birth, but both parents must agree to a change of name. Unless Anna can find a way for Helen to register the birth, Rob will be able to trump Helen. The only glimmer of hope is that the birth must be registered where the baby was born. I'm not sure if Rob would be able to travel any distance, but it sounds as though he will do anything to get there. I thought my local hospital had a visiting Registrar, but this no longer seems to be the case.
