No more walking on eggshells for Helen! Heading for an eggsplosive Easter weekend in The Archers - will Helen Archer be resurrected by the end of this thread?

Helen knows she's not cracking up - Knob is an eggomaniac.

Are we eggshausted with this storyline?

Your tone was perfect Sarf. I was disappointed that you didn't fancy my suggestion for pimping it up.

Stickerrocks · 29/03/2016 23:43

Checking out the titles again, it was Pseudo after all who promised an explosive thread. Our farm shop also does a black pudding & jalapeno Scotch egg for added heat.

SarfEast1cated · 29/03/2016 23:43

Thanks stikkerocks I've only been here a day, don't want to spoil things already!

I do very much like the idea of your 'oldskool' scotch eggs, I wonder if Knob has any allergies... maybe Frazzles could play a part.

I wonder if there is anyway one of the Mitchell brothers could be Henry's sperm doner dad - then things could get 'right tasty'.

I am obviously hallucinating now... I just have to admit that I get really confused who everyone is on TA... so a lot of the plot twists pass me by. I wonder if there is an Archer's annual I could get.

EBearhug · 29/03/2016 23:44

Harrison does do policing. I heard him on Front Row (or similar) some time last week, and he mentioned the bunting. Grin

I'm not convinced Helen and Rob will get a weekend away - but if it does happen - now Helen is realising how much of a monster Rob is (whatever he may declare,) a whole weekend with just him, expecting "romance" in bed and everything - must be absolute hell.

My worries about the script, apart from a brief episode with Tom, is why more men can't see the change in Helen.

Won't they be putting it down to being a difficult pregnancy? That's obviously round the village, because Clarrie commented on it when they weren't at the pageant.

SliceOfLime · 29/03/2016 23:51

Grovelling apologies PresidentOlivia for asking about sporners, I knew not the can of pus worms I was opening! I had to have a lie down after reading EBearhug 's kind explanation and certainly did not click on the link Grin

I've realised that my last 2 posts were about MeMeMe (my CBT and HV experiences) Blush I hope wasn't me that was coming across as revelling in their perfect life! Wink clearly not that perfect if it has involved therapy for depression however so apologies for that too.

Who did torch the henhouse?? And why?? Will we ever find out or is it just a device to do other stuff like move the Brethren in with Bert and maybe make Pip feel sorry for Rex?

TopOfTheCliff · 30/03/2016 00:00

Maybe it was Rex in a desperate attempt to win Pip's heart and get his foot in the door of Rickyard Cottage. FAIL!

This thread criticises women and posters seem to glory in the fact that their lives are oh so perfect

As long as you realise most of the people you are criticising (unjustly might I add if you had read the previous 49 thread s) are women. Real actual women not fictional characters.

And I have no idea where the oh so perfect lives comment comes from. (And yes the Refuge fundraising has often been mentioned on the thread).

I don't know if you have been on the victim blaming thread about DV in chat recently but if you want to get feisty about DV that might be a better target for a bit challenging posting. Some posters there could do with listening to TA

glowfrog · 30/03/2016 00:26

Elendon I don't care if you were not addressing me. Just because a rude and obnoxious drunk isn't bothering ME, doesn't mean I won't step in.

NB I am not saying you're drunk.

DadDadDad · 30/03/2016 00:48

With reference to Small talking about the previous 49 threads, I know I'm one of the posters who bangs on about this being the 50th thread, but I wouldn't want newcomers / lurkers to feel that's a barrier to joining in - ie the feeling that unless you've been on that journey of 50 threads then you shouldn't contribute.

I don't think any of the lovely regulars on here would believe it is a barrier to contributing, and I personally rejoice over each delurker who posts. So, I'm not criticising anyone, just highlighting a possible danger of appearing unwelcoming.

This series of threads has so far been the most courteous and good-natured threads I have seen on MN. So, I hope that continues.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 30/03/2016 00:59

Is it really breaching confidentiality to discuss treatment decisions with next of kin? I mean, doctors would discuss stuff like that with us about DC's medical needs

Of course it's a breach. I'd be furious if a health care professional discussed my health care any one else if I still had capacity. Also agree "next of kin" has no legal status.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 30/03/2016 01:09

Fair point 3D all I meant was that there is a wealth of posting on this thread on DA and not much (or any) on perfect lives. (Not saying y'all don't have lovely livesWink just no one goes on about it that I have ever seen).

Lurkings, new posters always welcome no sporn though and no spoilers!

DadDadDad · 30/03/2016 01:14

As I say, small, I wasn't having a go at you or anyone. It's interesting that in your previous post, you chose to strike out the reference to previous 49 threads, self-consciously mentioning all that material but also recognising that it could be a bit intimidating to point someone back to nearly 50,000 posts ("don't argue with me until you've read all of them" Shock).

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 30/03/2016 01:34

That would take a whileGrin

CuttedUpPear · 30/03/2016 06:34

FFS Elendon maybe you could read back some of the other 49 threads that we have all contributed towards and see that your 'feisty' comments are not in the spirit at all?
I have never ever seen anyone trying to argue on these threads as it appears you are. It's just not necessary. Or seemly.

It's not AIBU, please have some respect for those of us to whom these threads are a sanctuary from life and from the vagaries of the more tempestuous corners of MN.

AugustaFinkNottle · 30/03/2016 07:19

I think George took the £20 from Clarrie's purse

Didn't Alf admit to that one?

EBearhug · 30/03/2016 07:30

Carrie accused Alf by saying if he wanted money, he had to ask first. Alf said he was very sorry, but I'm not sure he admitted it as such. So it's possible he knows it's George but is giving him a chance to set things right by taking the blame. Or it could just as easily be Alf himself.

mummytime · 30/03/2016 07:31

Alf could have taken the blame for someone else? I also wonder if someone put the tin somewhere safe which in my perfect family is a sure fire way to not find it for months.

Actually what we should be challenging SOC and Keri Davies about, is this petty crime wave. Yes the police don't solve every crime but there is such a lot of unsolved crimes in Ambridge now that it is looking bad. I'm surprised someone from the police hasn't started to complain; and No just locking Rob up wouldn't be enough to balance it. And I wouldn't be happy if it all got blamed on Rob, as that would mean he was deranged which is a get out.

EBearhug · 30/03/2016 07:41

It's Harrison - that's why he is failing to solve anything. Grin

spiker · 30/03/2016 08:20

Of course! ebearhug has nailed it! Didn't this crime wave start when Harrison moved into Ambridge?? It started with the bunting and escalated from there.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 30/03/2016 08:21

So far we have had
Poaching
Cows
Bunting
Arson at GF
Arson at HT
Theft from Clarrie
Theft from vicarage

Odd collection of crimes. So either they are just highlighting rural crime in general or tgere is someone quite mobile with cattle transport and matches.

Minimammoth · 30/03/2016 08:23

If we had a big enough scotch egg, we could fill up the sink hole.
Perhaps Rob could be involved in a cheese rolling ( or scotch egg) incident on Lakey Hill.

R4 · 30/03/2016 08:29

I could go with the 'Alf covering for George' theory if there had been only one theft, to get money for his mum's Easter egg. But there have been three thefts: (1) the vestry biscuit tin, (2) the £20 admitted-to [but not offered to make good!!] and (3) Clarrie finding her purse lighter than she expected when getting the drinks in at Eddie's party.

redshoeblueshoe · 30/03/2016 08:33

We can cross the theft from Clarrie off the list as she won't report it , now come on Harrison and do your job unless of course his job has already been cut and he has just kept the uniform, and needs the money but that doesn't explain the fires

Minimammoth · 30/03/2016 08:39

Perhaps the Easter Egg was stolen
