I long for the days of OldPip and OldTom. Both portrayed whiny, petulant self obsession so well. I do think NuTom has a nice way with Johnny but Pip is just dire. This is the girl who pawned her mother's birthday gift to leg it with Jude to Newquay for a shagfest and now we have her drearying on about being separating from Matthew. Where's her spirit gone?

Hard to say what I think about New Tom. He is just so bland. Never really recognise it's him when he is speaking. Could be anyone. Old Tom was annoying in his way, but IRL people are often annoying. He was a mega sausage bore, but at least you knew where you were with him. Couldn't really say anything about the new one. Colourless somehow…..

I like Carole. Especially after she semi admitted she helped her husbands exit because he was in agony. It shows she has courage follow her own instincts.

Hellin doesn't need to see her gp to see a psychiatrist. Ursilla can use some of Henry's school fees to pay privately. No doubt Hellin will do her best to convince the psychiatrist she is unstable and it's all her fault as (said this before) she has been so brainwashed by knob.

I had no problem with Old Tom. For one thing, I always knew who he was. Didn't care for Pip, but that was the characterisation, not the acting.

Same as gas - i always thought people disliked oldtom and old pip because of their character - which suggests they were good actors!

Replacing with professional actors/children of professional actors would be fine if the replacements were any good but pip in particular is truly awful. Is she a better screen actor?

As the incessantly-talking ILs are still with me, I have just taken the opportunity to listen to last night's ep on iPlayer (thank you KLAXON-sounders). Apart from the Brethren/Pip, it was such a nice episode and I think I'm a tiny bit in love with Carol. Hope we hear more from her and I agree - she could be knob's nemesis.

BYOS so with you on the old vs new Tom/Pip. The acting was not the issue before - it was the characters that annoyed us but the actors were good. Now the acting is awful, especially Pip who really needs to be told to just calm down, stop drawing out her words as long as possible AND STOP SHOUTING EVERYTHING. I could also do without the long intakes of breath through teeth at the end of so many sentences. It's like she's trying to maximise her space the whole time.

Cheers for the new fred Pseudo. Haven't been around for a couple of weeks, my laptop died and the chap I took it to couldn't find a new motherboard for it (it was old). I now have a nice shiny newish one but working silly hours will restrict my time online.

Loved the scenes featuring Bert and Mrs Toboggan, especially Bert railing against Lynda. Toby's shitstirring was a bit unnecessary I thought. I hope that doesn't end up with Pip falling onto Rex's knob, no matter how annoying she is.
