Maybe if we don't look directly at the other storyline it will disappear?

Goodness! I saw nearly 50 posts on this new thread already and feared someone might have died. Relieved to see it was a normal, slow Sunday episode.

(Though listening to Pip and the brethren read out their lines was painful.)

Thank you Pseudo.Flowers

I didn't like that imagined Helen speech one bit. I have never suffered sustained abuse like this character/many listeners but I just thought it was quite insulting. As though it was one lightbulb moment and she would come to her senses and move out. I felt it was quite offensive. It made her complicit in her own abuse. Surely the point is that self esteem and confidence are utterly destroyed.

Looking forward to a Bert versus Lynda take down. Good stuff. Boop in fact.

I knew old pip was a better actress! Did she choose to leave?

I hope new pip goes to Canada soon

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 13/03/2016 22:45

me too

I thought OldPip got the heave ho because she hadn't been to RADA, but I might be thinking of OldTom, who is still haunting Sainsbos

I still feel Sad whenever I hear him

I thought OldTom had got a PhD in psychology or something and was off doing psychological stuff. But I might be totally wrong.

if he is, he's taken a bit of time off to tell me and all the pensioners in Sainsbos of a monday morning to put a bit of pickle in our cheese sandwich

I hope it's paid for his double glazing

Old Tom was sacked. He announced it on Twitter - he hadn't expected to be replaced

Old Pip was sacked too. Yes, it was because the ed wanted 'proper' actors

Did Toby seem to imply that he was married when he mentioned his ex?

Thanks for the new thread.

Funny as soon as someone said raised by wolves I thought oh right that's why Getmaine's voice is familiar.

I thought that Enoch. It definitely sounded like there was an ex wife. Do you think she could be in Brighton?

I haven't turned off the radio yet during an episode of TA, but I did turn it off last week when Tony was being interviewed. He was saying how wonderful it was working with his son, and he kept going on about what a brilliant actor he was. I had smoke coming out of my ears, he is not a good actor, we only know who he is because everyone says hi Tom
but I guess nepotism will always be rife at the BBC.
As for Pip I'm thinking something more radical - she should have a relationship with both of the Fairbreatheren and all of them can run off to Canada

The recasting if pip and Tom was a mistake IMO and the kind of action an attention seeking ed would take

Old pip was annoyingly whiny but well acted. New pip is so awful I can't believe she went to drama school!

New Tom isn't a bad actor but the casting decisions on doc have been poor as he obviously doesn't understand radio acting. I think he picked people on looks/family when neither are very helpful with voice acting.

Of the new lot rob and Johnny were the only good decisions

It's not Tom's fault that his voice isn't particularly distinguishable from the other young men. That's poor casting. The bad acting of some characters IS their fault - Peggy's the worst for sounding as though she's reading her lines for the first time.

Definitely I'd love Carol & Arsula to meet and have a bust-up. Carol would win hands down.

Thanks for the thread Pseudo

Old Pip used to drive me mad with her exPlosive ConsonanTs but she was light years better than New Pip.

Although New Pip was fine in that WWII TV thing, so make of that what you will.

Am intrigued by Hellin's 'appointment' tonight...

I can forgive Peggy. June Spencer is in her 90s.

I think Toby's ex (whether wife or not) is the Brighton connection. Actually, he's just the sort I can imagine going for a big wedding and piss up where he's the centre of attention, and forgetting a marriage is about more than just the big party.

Can't remember - are Carol and Arse played by the same actress? If not - they sound uncannily similar. Found it v. spooky last night. THen again - 'Mrs Tregorrin' is all about the witches' brews interesting herbal teas….

Oh how long do I have to wait for the two character episode with Helen and the psychiatrist where, in answer to every question, Helen replies Rob says - and then at the end the psychiatrist reads all her responses back to her?

Report
recyclingbag · 14/03/2016 09:29

Surely Rob won't go through with it. Even he can't be so deluded to think a psychiatrist will agree with him.

It's the threat of a psychiatrist that will keep Helen in her place.

Thanks for the new thread Psuedo Grin

IIRC the old PIP was a BAD actress and had a nasty voice, this one is a bit changeable but not too bad.

New Tom is good IMO.
