Maybe if we don't look directly at the other storyline it will disappear?

Ffs. She said no. He carried on knowing he did not have consent. This is not a blurred line.

Coercive sex is a different thing but still a part of DA and as such also against the law.

Walk of to where? Perhaps BHC has sprouted another spare roomHmm

I know people are saying that Patbot has changed personality, but since Hellin shouted at her recently when she asked about the home birth I can understand she doesn't know who to turn to to help Hellin. H pushed the point that Rob was so fantastic at the beginning, and threatened to cut her parents out of her life when she was pregnant with Henry, so you can't blame Pat for being so over-cautious all the time now. Here's hoping Tony will stand up to Knob and that Fallon and Kirsty will do something.

I'm not enjoying this storyline at all, but think it's been fantastically acted and well thought out for the most part. When we're listening we have to remember that only we can see the full picture. The players in the drama have only small parts of the jigsaw to go on, plus the fact that Hellin's been so very prickly with people in the past. I think this thread has helped many people realise, if they didn't already, just how pernicious many DA perpetrators can be.

ElementaryMyDear · 17/03/2016 16:05

That was no "coy" no, she said it several times. Grrr.

I think that at times she does believe that she has mental health problems, particularly given her past history, and it looks as if she believes, at the very least, that Rob hitting her was a response to her allegedly going to hit him. But there's a part of her that, in particular, knows that rape isn't excusable on any interpretation - it was the morning after the first rape that she was clearly upset and seemed to see for the first time that maybe he isn't the wonderful person she thought he was. I would also hope that a part of her knows that he had no excuse for hitting her, and is able to acknowledge that what he said about Henry was absolutely inexcusable. If she finds out about the school plan, that might be the tipping point.

My Mum said last night that when Richard Locke came back, at the paternity test thing, he said to Knob "I know you from somewhere" and was most emphatic despite Knobs protestations.

My prediction is that something is going to precipitate Hellin needing to see Richard and that penny finally dropping of Where It is I know Knob From

I don't think that would make any difference, as she was with him when he took the paternity test. The fact that it was Dr Locke that did it would be pretty irrelevant to her.

BYOSnowman · 17/03/2016 16:13

It's depressing that some people still think 'no' means 'maybe''

I hope he is clearly charged with rape and there is no ambiguity in the charging or court case

enochroot · 17/03/2016 16:21

I wonder if it might be Fallon who gives her shelter or gets her to a women's refuge if she bolts. It would put Harrison in an interesting position but would prevent Rob from launching a national police hunt for her if Harrison knew the circumstances. He's not predisposed to hero-worship Rob.

squeaver · 17/03/2016 16:44

Yes, Harrison does NOT like him, esp after the hunt sab incident.

recyclingbag · 17/03/2016 16:56

My point exactly. Harrison will know exactly what to do

(Soothes own brow)

recyclingbag · 17/03/2016 16:57

I think I've realised I'm a little bit in love with Harrison for reasons I can't begin to think about.

BYOSnowman · 17/03/2016 17:00

Since I found out the actor was a real life criminal I've found it hard to take Harrison seriously!

recyclingbag · 17/03/2016 17:02

Noooooooooooooooooooo

sunnydayinmay · 17/03/2016 17:28

Just googled - he is, you know! Fighting in a pub.

WipsGlitter · 17/03/2016 17:28

Great but awful episode! He's growing in confidence - rude to her in front of others. Thinks he can leave her alone as there's no risk of her making a run for it. He's awful. And they are definitely going to look at the school. I do think that will be the final straw.

enochroot · 17/03/2016 17:37

Harrison (and David) witnessed Rob's behaviour the night of the flood. Rob refused point blank to help them and was extremely nasty, tried to break into the village shop and then grabbed the boat which they could have made good use of and rowed away in an utter panic.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/03/2016 18:09

The other thread - the one that contains the material banned from this thread - has just been updated.Just remember as my MN life depends on it the first rule of the Spoilers thread is what's posted in Spoilers stays in Spoilers.

Putthetulipsthere · 17/03/2016 18:14

The EA story may have been well researched and the Knob/Hell script & acting good but the rest of the SL has so many holes! These are just a few of them:-
The way that Jennifer inexplicablyabandoned her investigations into Stefan's disappearance ( & David too).
Very few questioned Knob's decision to walk out on his job.
Knob can be spectacularly obnoxious to a character (for example to Tony when he dared to introduce some furniture to the shop which Knob didn''t like, to Susan about the sparkler she gave Henwee at Guy Fawkes, to Shula re the hunt sab (even though she won't want to perjure herself, I think it was pretty clear she saw what Knob did to him, so she knows he can be violent). But then they praise him, despite his blatant nastiness!

Still I'm glad that Carole has come forward as a doubter.
Also surely Fallon and Shula will think his behaviour towards Hellin yesterday unpleasant? I can but hope they might actually mention it to someone 😣🤔

careeristbitchnigel · 17/03/2016 18:17

Incidentally, does anyone know if the new law will be applied retrospectively?
Add message | Report | Message poster Gruach Thu 17-Mar-16 10:36:03

No. no criminal law can be applied historically.

redshoeblueshoe · 17/03/2016 18:26

But he could be prosecuted for the rapes.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 17/03/2016 18:30

You know what was crap last night?shula talking to Richard. 'Oh hullo RICHARD NOT ALAN WHO YOU SOUND EXACTLY LIKE .... [obvious sound of mental gears grinding ... Something wasn't right about that conversation I just had in the shop ... Something I need to talk over .....] RICHARD NOT ALAN .... Would you pay extra for grass-fed eggs?'

BertrandRussell · 17/03/2016 18:34

Yes, that was seriously bizarre. And I thought it was Alan too, and I was hoping he'd say something about Amy visiting.

And what exactly are the health benefits of pastured eggs? And are they going to be fed on organic feed?

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 17/03/2016 18:36

This thing that's on now is abysmal though.

Stickerrocks · 17/03/2016 18:47

I think that Rob will take Henry out of school today without Helen's knowledge, almost to make a point to himself that he is in control and Helen can't do anything to stop him. They'll go to see his old prep school and poor Henry will be told to keep quiet despite previously telling him that there should be no secrets. perhaps he will be told that Mummy is very, very poorly and Henry shouldn't get over excited around her or Mummy may have to go away to hospital for a very long time.

glowfrog · 17/03/2016 18:48

I missed what happened to Jess. Was the baby not Rob's? Also, how did she survive being married to him all this time? Was he not abusive towards her, or...? Or was her subsequent bunny boiler behaviour because of the abuse?

I think it could be pretty neat if she came back and teamed up with Kirsty to save Helen.

BYOSnowman · 17/03/2016 18:51

Baby not his

I think Jess was written before they knew where the sl was going - all very inconsistent and weird (why would you be desperate to prove your abusive ex was the father of your child - weird type of revenge as it just made him feel smug when it was shown not to be his child)

I think the Jess days are best forgotten - she was a terrible actress too!

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 17/03/2016 18:57

Jess wanted the baby to be his becauae she thought he should pay CM. (Fair enough). Note she didn't try to get him back otlr to see her child. Just pay.

Also just becauae he was abusive to her (it was clearly indicated) does not mean that she could walk away just like that. It's complicated.
