Maybe if we don't look directly at the other storyline it will disappear?

What a relief to find this thread! I have been shouting at the radio for months!

I am really worried about poor Henry. Now that Rob has adopted him, he has all sorts of rights over him, I assume. :-(

I know RL doesn't work out like that but I keep hoping the moment Helen hears about the boarding school plans, she will flip, and in a good way.

Also fantasising about Kirsty installing hidden cameras. :-D

Who is Stefan again??

NotdeadyetBOING · 17/03/2016 13:43

Pull up a chair and make yourself a cup of tea, Glowfrog.
You're in the right place!

lljkk · 17/03/2016 13:46

Hell could bolt to Kirsty's. Or to the police station for that matter. And phone police from the psychiatrist's office, who could collect Henry for her having involved social services etc.

Roy would see Knob off :)

The parental rights really does complicate a lot, true.

My experience of watching people have restraining orders imposed on them (in court, when the beneficiary was saying "Oh no, it's fine, get rid of the RO, you can let my violent unstable ex back in my life & judge was saying NO WAY" is that the RO covers joint children, too.

But, I didn't mean that I thought psych would encourage rushing into anything or try to make Hell go against her will. It sounds complicit criminally & medically negligent behaviour if the shrink would really say "Go home & lie about what you really told me & we'll just talk about this later" though.

I suddenly remembered someone I know who had suffered DV+EA, took her 8 yrs to LTB. :(

JapanNextYear · 17/03/2016 13:47

I reckon Rob and Ursula will pop into the school and make some excuse to take Henry with them to see the 'lovely new school where Daddy used to go'. But be told never to tell Mummy.

redshoeblueshoe · 17/03/2016 13:49

I think they will take Henwee to visit the school, purely because its Knob being hypocritical again. Hellin can't take him out - because she is just a silly girl. Knob knows better than everyone else.

MeolsCop · 17/03/2016 13:57

H knew to cover up the fact that she was waiting for Kirsty - when Knob came into the tearooms to drag her out take her away, Fallon started to say something like 'I'll tell K--' and H cut her off before she could say the name.

Surely, surely Fallon would tell Kirsty that H wanted to see her? This not-talking-to-each-other lark has gone on long enough. Seriously, doesn't anyone notice the way H just shrinks into a monosyllabic robot in Knob's presence while he chivvies her along like some recalcitrant animal? It's so blatantly obvious but no, seemingly nobody has thought to mention it to anyone else Hmm

R4 · 17/03/2016 14:08

Hi glowfrog. Welcome to the thread.
Rob hasn't adopted Henwee. For some reason, that we are all suspicious of, he didn't go through with it. He has Parental Responsibility.

Stefan was the worker at Berrow who saw Rob doing the stuffing of the culverts. He disappeared, suspiciously (that word again).

Fink · 17/03/2016 14:13

Never mind the DA, Rob is also clearly an unreformed crooked mountebank of the highest order. Shula asked for 200g cheese and he fobbed her off with 342g, over 170%, the cad!

Won't even speak about bloody Pat, who challenged Rob about eggs but not her daughter's mental health.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 17/03/2016 14:13

Listening again, I think any impartial observer would intuit that Shula doesn't like Rob.

Putthetulipsthere · 17/03/2016 14:28

Wish I had read all the posts before listening just now. The end was more sickening than ever. Rape, EA, imprisonment ( almost) what else is to come??😡😱. I don't like listening in evenings now in case DS 9 hears it. Must look out for the klaxon on here next time.

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 17/03/2016 14:28

Just listened to last nights episode

And then he rapes his pregnant wife

It actually made me cry Sad

How much longer will this go on?

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 17/03/2016 14:31

Well, I am finally delurking! I dreamed about Rob and Helen last night (and that was before listening to Sun-Wed's episodes) - I think that makes me officially over-invested, so there's no going back now! It's getting more and more chilling, I hope it ends well for Helen (and realistically - an escape followed by Rob being a thorn in Helen's side for the whole of SOK's childhood would be so much better than murder or prison).

Putthetulipsthere · 17/03/2016 14:31

And as for Pat, her Knob worship is getting more than silly. What mother wouldn't rush to see a pregnant daughter (even one with Hellin's history) who's been advised to go on ADs?

squeaver · 17/03/2016 14:32

The thing is, the story has been well-researched and they are trying to make it as close to rl victims' experiences (as endorsed by people on this thread and a look at the relationships board on any given day).

On that basis, it's not going to be a sudden dramatic ending with H making a run for it and the whole village waking up to Rob's real personality.

As enoch says, Pat would most likely send her back to Rob. Of course, that's not the Pat we all know of old. But it is the Pat who has been lied to and taken in by Rob; who is extremely nervous around H because of her mental health history; who doesn't want to lose another child.

Or, she'll go to Kirsty and Rob will come round all sweetness and light and persuade her that she should go back to him; that everything will be different; that he feels terrible for hitting her and will never do it again.

Or, she'll fall into the pothole, never make it to the sanctuary of the tearoom and they'll all blame her, send her back to bed and not allow her to even leave the bedroom until the baby is born.

glowfrog · 17/03/2016 14:38

Thanks, all - though I think stiff drinks rather than tea are what's required these days...

Ooh I see a glimmer of hope re: parental responsibility alone. Not sure what difference it can make but still. Won't make any difference to Henry's trauma, of course. :-(

I think I missed the whole Stefan/culverts thing! Would be a bit much of in the end he is undone by having committed a murder but at this point, I'll take anything including alien abduction, with plentiful of rectal probings.

WITH NO JELLY.

mummytime · 17/03/2016 14:40

Well Helen could escape, maybe to the Welsh relatives or somewhere she visited as a child. Or even phone women's aid.
But then Rob would report her to the police as "vulnerable", national police search etc.
Then when she is found, who do the police believe?

ppeatfruit · 17/03/2016 14:40

Like a recalcitrant animal or a badly behaved 3 year old fgs the way he said 'that's the ticket' when he strapped her in to her car seat. and chased her out of the cafe. Hellin now is fully aware of what he's up to.

PatrickMcGinty · 17/03/2016 14:41

I don't discuss TA with DH and he isn't around when I'm listening that often, but the last couple of HelRob episodes have actually had HIM shouting at the radio!

I'm aware that this story is largely well researched and written, but this is not why I've been a lifelong listener to TA. Please let it end!

Butteredparsnips · 17/03/2016 14:47

Oh That was hard to listen too. Though I agree there were a few glimmers of light there with a few potential collaborators for Helen if she makes her move.

Kirsty will lead the resistance.

now we have the party to "look forward" to tonight. Hmm

tootsietoo · 17/03/2016 14:59

But DOES Helen know what he is up to? I have kept thinking that she does for months now, yet she hasn't done anything to show that she does. Perhaps she really is still believing that she is over tired and has mental health problems.

I WISH I hadn't listed to the episode at lunchtime. I was in the car and had to get out to speak to people immediately after it finished and I was shaking a bit, I must have seemed really peculiar. I don't want to listen to any more, I will just have to keep coming here to check what is going on and I will listen when Helen starts to try to get out of it.

JasperDamerel · 17/03/2016 15:02

One thing that I'm finding disturbing is the number of people on (other) internet spaces who can't bring themselves to use the word "rape" to describe what happened.

firesidechat · 17/03/2016 15:10

What are they calling it Jasper?

I didn't listen to it myself, but I trust the posters on here to recognise rape when they hear it.

BYOSnowman · 17/03/2016 15:19

You do all realise we are going to have months of Shula tying herself up in knots about lying about the sab incident because she will feel guilty that she could have stopped him earlier. That will be fun.

Not sure how that isn't rape?

BYOSnowman · 17/03/2016 15:24

Have seen some of those now jasper

Gems include her no was meek so he probably thought she was being coy

Why didn't she just tell him to do one and walk off

It wasn't rape but coercive sex

firesidechat · 17/03/2016 15:36

Hmm. If TA wants to educate listeners about domestic violence it appears they have some way to go. How depressing.
