No, I think she's still trying to reassure herself that he DOES have all their best interests at heart, because she can't have been so wrong, surely, can she? and therefore she must be overreacting and nervous because of, y'know, hormones, and maybe Henry is a little boisterous and needs more discipline, and... etc.

Minimammoth · 15/02/2016 16:56

Leakey Hill would be perfect for a Wicker man ceremony. It would be for the greater good.

Minimammoth · 15/02/2016 16:57

Lakey. Grrr

EBearhug · 15/02/2016 17:00

She probably doesn't know about the obedience talk yet. She does know Rob is keeping everyone from her, so she has peace and quiet and can relax, so seeing less Henry is just part of that, and she hasn't really worked out how to fight it yet. In any case, even if she doesn't like the method, he does keep pointing out it's because he's looking after her - the words all make sense, so how can she tell someone else, when she's already driven Ian away. In any case, he looks after Henry well (she doesn't know about the manipulative conversations, ) makes sure he's in school and so on - Henry's fine, even if she's feeling isolated and bored, so there's nothing to worry about on that front...

There was once a long thread on the BBC boards about the wicker heifer...

THE GREATER GOOD.

I bought Hot Fuzz at the weekend - I think watching it should be a requirement for gaining citizenship tbh.

Ooh World's End is on the telly next weekend too asking

I don't really care what robs motivation is and I don't really care enough about Helen to be bothered to think what she might be thinking!

No matter how close you are to your parents it is never right to have the conversation pip had with hers

And all the blubbing? Pip came across as a bit of bunny boiler IMO

Gruach · 15/02/2016 17:56

all the blubbing? I was hoping for a happy announcement.

Brilliant poetry find Pal. I certainly don't remember having read it before - one might assume SOC has.

LillianGish · 15/02/2016 17:57

Late to the thread today - brilliant exposition earlier by Gruach about Knob's motivation. I don't think Helen is aware of what's happening with Henry - Knob's little talks and threats are when noone else is in earshot. She doesn't realise for instance that it was Knob who persuaded Henwee that mummy was a liar - she just said she hoped Knob had put him right and believed him when he said he had. Henwee appears to love Knob - it's a pity Helen can't cotton on that that is how she appears to other people too. At the moment that is how Knob is managing to operate - no one has witnessed his behaviour and those who have say nothing to anyone else. This is where I'm counting Patbot when Ursula arrives because she, Tony and Helen were all there for the ridiculous charade and subsequent cover-up of Ursula's no-show at the dinner party. Knob can't do his usual playing one off against the other, rewriting history and gaslighting Helen. Unfortunately I think the collective amnesia of the SWs led by SOC and now joined it seems by KD tweeting his afterthoughts means that is exactly what will happen - with a sheepish follow-up tweet by KD.

If only our hive mind could somehow be harnessed and somehow brought into existence as the Archivist...

Toomuchtea · 15/02/2016 18:43

All the SWs have to do is post a question on this thread and they will have all the hive mind they could ever want.

Abraid2 · 15/02/2016 18:51

{Derails} Bah to poor Sylvia.

Ted H much maligned in my view. {rerails}

Very apt poem though vis-a-vis Knob.

spiker · 15/02/2016 19:04

They won't ask though Tea...we have to intercept their thought processes somehow...Knobbishly, even.

BYOSnowman · 15/02/2016 19:07

Nice to hear Johnny (an easily recognisable voice!)

spiker · 15/02/2016 19:08

Is that a new Tom?? I literally had no idea who was speaking...

BYOSnowman · 15/02/2016 19:09

So they've grown an extra bedroom

If rob is just like his father ursula may be more of an ally

enochroot · 15/02/2016 19:10

That's a new Ursula.

GypsyFl0ss · 15/02/2016 19:10

So Ursula is normal. Hurrah.

enochroot · 15/02/2016 19:12

Supercilious git.

BYOSnowman · 15/02/2016 19:13

The shop is going to crash and burn if pat doesn't wake up.

Now you would expect Tom to go home and rant at pat about rob not listening and being bloody minded blah blah blah. And then pat has a penny drop - the first of many that will finally wake her up

FinestGrundyTurkey · 15/02/2016 19:13

I hope Tom will be checking with the usual supplier...

VinceNoirLovesHowardMoon · 15/02/2016 19:14

Ursula sounds ok? Not sure what element of the plot she will move forwards. Go tom!

FinestGrundyTurkey · 15/02/2016 19:19

In fact she sounds to have no illusions about Rob's character. So why does he want her there? Very odd
