Here it is - the infamous shower scene, although I think the worst part is not on this clip.

The Bull used to belong to Sid Perks (who bought it from Caroline, with help from Lilian, who remains a partner). At that time he was married to Kathy. She had an affair with a policeman, which became common knowledge after Eddie started mouthing off about it in the bar one evening, and Sid threw her out. However, they seemed to get over that until suddenly Sid and Jolene found a mutual interest in hygiene. Grin

Kathy and Sid got divorced. Sid kept the pub. Kathy bought the cottage next door to Keeper's, where the Grundys lived until the flood. Jolene moved into the pub and married Sid. After some years, they went on holiday to New Zealand to see his daughter, Lucy (product of his first marriage) and he died of a heart attack while they were out there. Jolene inherited most of Sid's share of the pub, although part went to Jamie, son of Sid and Kathy, and presumably Lucy was entitled to something as well.

Kenton and Jolene got together a few months later. Kenton now behaves as if he is the landlord, but as far as we are aware he has no financial interest in the pub at all. This is the kind of niggly detail that irks me.

BYOSnowman · 14/02/2016 20:51

Don't forget Kenton and Kathy were together before he got together with jolene

DadDadDad · 14/02/2016 20:51

Not only am I going to picture Ursula with tentacles, I've been trying a new technique where I picture Rob in a clown's outfit. When he utters a chilling line, I picture his bow tie spinning or his red nose lighting up. Not sure if it'll just make him even more sinister Confused.

MrsWembley · 14/02/2016 20:56

Nice recap, Gasp0de, but whatever did happen to Kathy? Can't believe I hadn't noticed she'd disappeared!Blush

BYOSnowman · 14/02/2016 20:57

Maybe she will end up with Wayne....

LillianGish · 14/02/2016 20:57

Perhaps Kathy will get together with Wayne since clearly she and Jolene share the same taste in men. Also they have cooking and catering in common.

LillianGish · 14/02/2016 20:58

Great minds BYOS Grin

BYOSnowman · 14/02/2016 20:58

Ha ha! Well if we thought it I bet soc has too!

Be funny to see jolene with the shoe on the other foot!

LillianGish · 14/02/2016 20:59

Kathy hasn't really disappeared - she's managing Grey Gables through the medium of mime.

LillianGish · 14/02/2016 21:00

SOC won't remember any of those past connections - he can scarcely remember what he wrote last week let alone before he was editor.

BYOSnowman · 14/02/2016 21:01

True

Maybe KD then

Joskar · 14/02/2016 21:10

Five star afternoon?!?!

Good grief.

choccyp1g · 14/02/2016 21:17

The other strange thing is that Kathy's house is next door to Keepers, yet was unaffected by the flood. Or did Kathy and Jamie move in to Grey Gables as well?

LillianGish · 14/02/2016 21:18

Yes - if they had to have that conversation, just to make it quite clear to the listeners what was what, whoever thought it was a good idea to have it with David and Ruth??

BYOSnowman · 14/02/2016 21:19

Yep - totally wrong

Lots of inappropriate convos between pip and her parents though. Like they're mates.

GruntledOne · 14/02/2016 21:20

I missed the very end of tonight's episode. When I had to switch off, Kenton was telling Jolene how he owed the turn-around in his fortunes to her. It would be nice to think that one of them acknowledged that they also owed quite a lot to David, Shula, Jill and Elizabeth. Did they, by any chance?

JapanNextYear · 14/02/2016 21:49

New thread, ace.

SuffolkNWhat · 14/02/2016 22:32

DadDadDad · 14/02/2016 22:55

Suffolk - now you've blown it, that's exactly the look I was trying to avoid in my mind. Sad

EBearhug · 14/02/2016 23:46

I was thinking Pennywise, but I was considerately not mentioning it.

The thing I always liked about It was the recognition that what is most scary for one person isn't necessarily the same as what is most scary for the next person. So it would be very bad to see Rob like that.

Not that I have any ideas for an alternative.

spiker · 15/02/2016 00:04

The Pip-Matt-Ruth-Deevid scenes are bottom-clenchingly awful. The only reason my parents are aware that I have ever had sex is that I have produced 2 DSs.

This obedience gig for Henwee is Knob's terror of Ursula yes? She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed.

Minimammoth · 15/02/2016 03:56

Arghh.

Just that.

DadDadDad · 15/02/2016 07:18

Well, I'm going to give it a go picturing Rob like this.

Game of Farms: The 4 Houses of Ambridge. Bleak House, Boring House, Sitcom House and About to Breach the Terms of Their Tenancy House.
GruntledOne · 15/02/2016 07:57

I don't think the obedience thing for Henry is purely for Ursula's benefit, I think it's another turn of the control screw.

StubbleTurnips · 15/02/2016 07:58

Dadx3 I think that's a more terrifying prospect than the first one Shock
