... silently, though...

enochroot · 11/02/2016 16:22

It might be sloppy writing rather than deep psychological analysis of an abuser but before Rob was actually confronted with her collapse from not eating and became obsessed about stuffing her with food did he not spend weeks making snide comments about how big she was?

I cannot believe that someone who knows her history of ED didn't make the size comments maliciously.

enochroot · 11/02/2016 16:30

Yet now he's almost demented about the well being of his baby so he can't have been deliberately encouraging the ED.

It looks to me like sloppy writing or, rather, failure of the editor to ensure consistency.

Greengager · 11/02/2016 16:32

I agree with what some people have said here. I don't think Rob sets out to be abusive as part of a master plan. It's who he is / what he has learnt a healthy relationship looks like. I doubt he has a lot of insight into his actions and is driven by the need to control with realising.

I have a just turned six year old born not long before Henry and no he does not sound in the least Henry. Henry sounds more like my three year old.

BYOSnowman · 11/02/2016 16:43

Dd is 6 months older and Henry sounds a lot younger. He sounds like dd when she is doing her baby voice!!

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 11/02/2016 16:52

Was discussed upthread. I think Rob mentioning her wait/size was deliberate not having realised how bad her ED is (it not being something he can control, how could he?). He mentions her wright hecause he knows it immediately makes her feel rubbish and that makes him feel a teeny bit better about himself. Some people never an opportumity to get a dig in. It's like a reflex.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 11/02/2016 16:52

Weight. Ffs.

GruntledOne · 11/02/2016 17:11

I suppose the digs about Helen's size might also have been caused because Rob is aware that pregnant women can put on weight, his chattel isn't allowed to let herself go like that otherwise it will reflect on him, he saw her with larger breasts/stomach and decided that he had to do something about it. Plus, as SmallLegs says, he likes making her feel awful.

Lancelottie · 11/02/2016 17:15

I think his default setting is just to know better than anybody else - so if someone is worried about Helen's weight, there is automatically nothing wrong with it; and the GP practice don't think she's urgent so they clearly need to be argued with; and Helen is wronger than a wrong thing in Wrongtown about everything pretty much by default.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 11/02/2016 17:16

Very true lance very true.
He started that with Tom. Rob knew better than everyone else how to run a frizen food business despite knowing f all about it.

Rob knows best.

AdventuresOfADentist · 11/02/2016 17:25

Thank you Seek for bringing the phrase "going full cunt" into my life Grin

GruntledOne · 11/02/2016 17:35

Way back last September-ish Tim whatsit who plays Rob was saying he keeps getting abuse in his local supermarket etc. I should imagine that by now he has to disguise his voice when he goes anywhere.

Lancelottie · 11/02/2016 17:37

Do you think he wanders round the supermarket doing the superior little half-laugh? If so, he deserves all he gets.

JessieMcJessie · 11/02/2016 18:04

I believe he's a big voice over artist- the Titchener gig might really harm his booking rates for adverts! What would Rob advertise...maybe drain cleaner ("clears even the most stuffed of culverts") or pregnancy vitamins ("if your wife doesn't take these she's killing your baby!")

LillianGish · 11/02/2016 18:24

I think his default setting is just to know better than anybody else This. Whatever the subject, however unqualified he is - Knob knows best. And noone ever pulls him up on it. I really thought that after he got it so wrong with his reassurance of Pat she might have said something or felt the need to intervene since he so clearly didn't know best on that occasion.

How dull is listening to people watching racing

So lil and Justin are a go go. Love Brian digging for gossip!!

Gruach · 11/02/2016 19:06

BOOP for the racing fun!

BYOSnowman · 11/02/2016 19:08

So Eddie is going to stress out ed and piss off Caroline and Eddie

What happened to the land ed was still on the hook for?

Gruach · 11/02/2016 19:10

Eurghh - slightly too much info on Miranda's shortcomings Justin ...

BYOSnowman · 11/02/2016 19:11

Justin needs better chat up lines

BumpPower · 11/02/2016 19:12

Is justine giving her his carte blanche? (as they say in all my bodice ripping historical romances...

Gruach · 11/02/2016 19:12

Clothing and expenses?Envy Who needs chat?

LillianGish · 11/02/2016 19:19

So Kate's moving in too - another tactical move to ensure Kate gets more lines and plots. To hard to write for her when she's out on a limb.

tibbawyrots · 11/02/2016 19:26

What did the announcer say about Henry at the end? I was too quick to switch off and missed it.

Gruach · 11/02/2016 19:31

Yes, I'd forgotten that Kate was living alone.

All the major households; Brookfield, Bridge Farm, Home Farm and Grange Farm now have three generations of family living together. Boring house, misery house, sitcom house and about to breach the terms of their tenancy house ...
