Come on Kirsty!

Ot's always an interesting question. Do they know? Do they actually love the person they abuse?

My ex must have known because although I am sure he could justify it to himself, he used to batter his previous dp. I think he thought because he didn't batter me that he was no longer abusive.

I think the key is entitlememt. They believe they are entitled to behave like this. Rob is just doing what he has to. Horrible. Horrible man.

Jolene could get pregnant. They could draw out a storyline based on her thinking it was the menopause & then finding out after about 6 months. Caveat that I can't remember exactly how old she's supposed to be (50 odd?) nor whether she's already post-menopausal.

Or Emma or Nic (does she still exist) would be good. Both capable of being pregnant and having a life and the more Grundy's the better! [Deliberate typo].

Gherkinsmummy · 11/02/2016 14:11

I am having a little lie down now after sitting up all morning - I'm exhausted.

Gherkinsmummy · 11/02/2016 14:12

I hate the way Rob says 'well done' and 'good girl' as if speaking to a rather slow toddler.

stealthsquiggle · 11/02/2016 14:20

I get jet lag on this thread, as I almost never get to listen at 7pm pesky DC and their need for transport and food so am always waiting for the 2pm repeat.

Today's made me want to throw the radio out of the office window donate some more to the Helen Titchener rescue fund. "if you ever need to talk, about anything, I'm right here..."

Come on Kirsty, you need to get moving...

squeaver · 11/02/2016 14:22

Pip and Rex will undoubtedly be the big Christmas romance story.

Who has a 4/5 year old? Do they speak like Henry? He honestly sounds like he's 2.

squeaver · 11/02/2016 14:23

I'm hoping that Shula not answering Bert's comment about Rob being a good husband is significant.

doesthatmakesense · 11/02/2016 14:27

Ooh, a chance for saint Shula to redeem herself with the listeners?

stealthsquiggle · 11/02/2016 14:28

I thought that too, squeaver. Has Shula seen enough to be suspicious? I do hope so - Kirsty really needs an ally, and Shula could do with doing something useful for a change instead of just being sanctimonious.

I think TA is signalling that very soon Knob will hit George. I notice a rather agressive tone when George does something he doesn't like, he seems to be getting angrier and angrier with George. I wonder if he will hit George and that will finally force 'wet behind the ears' Hellin to finally do something. Maybe she will kill Knob thus getting rid of an unpleasant character and also putting herself away in Jail for several years. Hooray! As you can gather I dislike Helen intently, always have; her lack of backbone is really annoying.

As for the shop, there is no way that the shop can support all the people who seem to rely on it for their income. Sometimes TA really pisses me off with their patronising, they really underestimate the intelligence of their listeners if they think we swallow it.

There have been several rather clumsy exposition type scenarios which just don't sound right. Where the character describes something in detail to another person when they both obviously know it. The only reason they say it is so that the listeners understand some topic. It is clumsy and can be better achieved in a much more realistic and natural why if the script writers put some more effort into the writing. Come on TA, buck up with your plot lines and dialogue; get some decent script writers.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 11/02/2016 14:42

The problem is that I can quite clearly imagine Hellin defending Rob hitting Henry - 'well, Rob was tired and Henry really was being quite naughty - perhaps I've been too soft with him? Perhaps he does need a bit more discipline?'. Even before Rob went full-cunt, she was infuriatingly willing to let him assume the role of parent and not question his twattishness to and about Henwee.

As an aside - one of the more trivial things I can't bear about Rob his the way he says 'fault'. Fourlt with something distastefully over-pronounced in the 't'. It's not the posh accent - just, specifically, the way he says fault.

Yeah, but they did exactly that with Vickoi!
J'lene was being very unreasonable with Kennun about the stupid pancakes, I thought.

FirstVix · 11/02/2016 14:44

I thought that about Henry too - my DD was born same year as him, about 3 months later and no, she very definitely does not sound like him! My (just turned) 2yo nephew does.
Emma was pregnant at the same time last time wasn't she? She could easily be so again.
Children in Ambridge seem to grow like this; toddler, toddler, toddler.......young adults.
Or maybe Henry will be sent to SALT and he can expose the abuse that way?! Although as every other child under 10 there seems to speak the same way, probably not.

The appeal seems to have stalled now - if anyone knows of anyone who may not have seen it yet and may want to contribute, now would be a good time to show them - very close to £50k.

GruntledOne · 11/02/2016 14:45

I nominate Emmur for being upduffed, didn't she and Ed somewhat publicly DTD just before they moved in to Grange Farm? And she's one who will carry on working till she goes into labour. Mind you, Knob will probably dismiss that because she's lower class and we all know they can drop their babies in the field and carry on working.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 11/02/2016 15:20

'Well yes, darling, Emma Grundy is still working, but you're surely not comparing yourself to a Grundy are you? [infuriating passive-aggressive titter] She's not exactly Kate Middleton, is she? I don't suppose Emma Grundy is particularly fragile, is she? Probably just going to stock up on - heh heh - takeaway pizzas and some extra - heh heh - Sunny D - to get her through until she drops her next little burden on the state'

Footle · 11/02/2016 15:26

I can't bear to listen so I'm dependent on this thread for the storyline. Is George a new in-joke name for Henry, or has the recent poster just got Henry's name wrong, or is George a new character ?

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 11/02/2016 15:28

I assumed they just got the name wrong - if it's a joke, I don't know it! George is Ed and Emmur's son of a similar age to Henwee, so the confusion would make sense.

SaffyRosie · 11/02/2016 15:32

yes, i got his name wrong, I meant Henry.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/02/2016 15:35

Will and Emma's son, but he lives with Ed and Emma. He's older than Henry. Keira is Ed and Emma's daughte and much the same age as Henry, I think. Don't know if she's started school yet - has this been mentioned?

Well done seek MNHQ were quick off the mark!

Minimammoth · 11/02/2016 16:09

Lizzie for upduffedness. Revealing that she has been having a clandestine relationship. With err. Um. Fill the space.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 11/02/2016 16:09

It was gone before I got there, in the end!

Fink · 11/02/2016 16:15

The problem with class is that everyone is beneath Rob. I've changed my mind and am voting for Alice & Christopher to be able to manage a pregnancy without hysteria ... although if they can't even source their own logs there might be some difficulty.
