No - they were Ian's favourites

So.....what DID happen to the archivist???

Easy. Chopped into six inch chunks and stored in acid free boxes in the rolling racking. Smile

Wordsaremything · 26/01/2016 00:02

Madagascar? You mean the ... Disney film?... Fans self... Dies....

nippiesweetie · 26/01/2016 00:11

I'd like to think shepherd's huts have become popular because of Terry Pratchett's Tiffany Aching books. At £5000 a throw they are a bit expensive to burn, though.

Wordsaremything · 26/01/2016 00:23

This gets worse and worse...Wink

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 26/01/2016 00:42

Amaretti are lovely.
And very handy if you want to poison someone with arsenic.

EBearhug · 26/01/2016 01:09

AmarettI are lovely, but it's cyanide which smells of almonds, not arsenic.

EBearhug · 26/01/2016 01:12

I live in Scotland so Burns is a big thing here but I actually had no idea it was celebrated in England aswell.

Mostly it's not, aside from the bigger supermarkets geting haggis in stock.

At work today, the menu included venison casserole and haggis gravy.

AustinAmbassadorYReg · 26/01/2016 01:27

Mmmm venison casserole....

mummytime · 26/01/2016 06:25

Well around here it is, along with Chinese New Year, Eid and Divali would be bigger too if we had a more diverse population. And there is always fireworks on 4th July (not so much Bastille Day). Any excuse for a celebration/ eating something different.

That supercilious half laugh thing he does you have described it perfectly. We need Tom to talk to Kirtsy - to reveal Knob was one of the people who helped persuade him to break off the wedding, who suggested he go to Canada and who knew he was there and was in contact with him when no one else knew where he was. Pat also needs to know this. I'm really hoping Knob will have over-reached himself in dissing Tom's sausages. Surely they are one of the reasons customers might make a detour to the farm shop (or they might buy them after eating them in Fallon's Caf). As others have said, I can't see old Ambridge Organics customers (were there even any left after Knob had finished with it?) going out of their way to buy some over-priced Amaretti biccies.

Very late to the thread - blimey, you lot move fast! 162 posts already. Shock Great title. Thanks, Pseudo!

I think Pip and Matthew are about as good a couple as David and Ruth, ie not that great (I am not a Ruth fan). I'm not finding it difficult to distinguish him from Rex - Matthew sounds to me as if he might come from the Midlands. Anyone else hearing that? Josh has appeared so little that I do find it hard to remember his voice. That may change next year - Angus Imrie is probably due to graduate next summer and if SOC is so minded he could use him a lot more.

I quite like Amaretti but any business relying on my 5-yearly purchases would be in trouble.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 26/01/2016 08:11

EBear dammit I will gave to chsnge my dastardly plans.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 26/01/2016 08:14

Seems like it is garlic I need to cover the smell of arsenic.

I don't think Tom will unmask Knob. I think they will just get into increasingly bitter arguments until Hel is firced to choose between thrm.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 26/01/2016 08:22

The problem is, it's a big leap from 'my brother in law is a bit of a dick and god knows what my sister sees in him' to 'I think my brother in law is an emotional abuser', isn't it? People who think the former, and go decades quietly thinking it and trying not to cause ructions at family events by sniping at said BIL, must be really very common!

enochroot · 26/01/2016 08:26

The penny might drop with Tom if he talked to Helen or if he talked to Kirsty but it's unlikely.
Best we can hope for from Tom that he'll thwart Rob just enough for Rob to lose his temper, exposing himself that way.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 26/01/2016 08:29

Like that episode in Friends where Rachel's boyfriend (Ben Stiller) only ever screams and becomes irrational when Ross is around, and nobody believes he is a dick for ages.

('But Caitlin... he definitely will scream...' Anyone? Anyone? Grin)

LillianGish · 26/01/2016 08:33

My point is that Tom won't realise Knob is an emotional abuser - he's not paying that much attention to Helen. But he is obsessed with his sausages and would lay down his life for them (they are his connection to his dead brother) so I don't think he'll let Knob get away with trying to sideline them (and therefore him). In fact it occurs to me that Knob's encouraging Tom to move to Canada was part of his bid for Bridge Farm domination - hopefully the penny will drop with Tom too.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 26/01/2016 08:36

I really hope so!

Stickerrocks · 26/01/2016 08:46

My local branch of Cook only seems to sell liquorice sticks and habas fritas in their unfrozen range. Did anyone hear Jennifer hand round a bowl of delicious habas fritas at Charlie's leaving do? I'm always keen on a farm shop which sells posh beef crisps which take me back to the days of Smiths Bovril crisps.

I can't decide whether Knob is causing a scene about the stock range to build his own empire or to belittle Tom. He's probably see the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 26/01/2016 08:53

I think he has a visceral dislike of organic stuff, which he sees as a bit lentil-weaving ... and it gave him the chance to get straight back in there and exact revenge on Tom for buying venison.

GruntledOne · 26/01/2016 09:00

I suspect that if Knob tries to involve Pat in the sausage war he might find she jumps the other way. There's a difference between telling Tom off for making unilateral decisions and doing something that will bugger up his beloved sausage business.

LillianGish · 26/01/2016 09:07

Just listened again to scene with Tom and Knob (overinfested? moi?) Tom is absolutely right when he says that if the sausages aren't selling it is because they are not being marketed properly. Cue this scene : Hellin and Patbot visit shop. H and P: "Why are Tom's sausages hidden away in the back of this chiller cabinet?" K (supercilious laugh): "The shop layout is your department darling. You put them there. I didn't want to interfere - I thought you know best." H (absent-mindedly):"Did I? I don't remember - silly me. Perhaps you're right, I'd better stop having anything else to do with the shop whatsoever. I'm so glad your here to take care of things." K: "Well if you're sure that's what you want I'm happy to step up to the plate." Patbot: "Thanks Knob, we're so lucky to have you on board."

BertrandRussell · 26/01/2016 09:11

Has there been a payday yet?

R4 · 26/01/2016 09:20

Grin Lillian.
Isn't it scary how many posters can do a good impersonation of Rob? The SW must fight over who gets to write his lines.
