Yes, it would have rung alarm bells for me too, Chilli, but Pat's brain has fallen out and rolled down a drain.
But Pat's not next of kin. What can she do if her daughter is ill but won't talk to her? Oh, she could tell H's husband she's worried and see what he says.

If I were Pat living in the same village as DD I'd arrange with H's friends and relatives to make sure H's got company as often as possible - a watch committee. They'd suss it out pretty soon then, maybe, H could be persuaded to seek help.

Gruach · 30/01/2016 09:04

Good news JMJ?

Must say I find it strange that no one seems to have mentioned haggis in Ambridge before - through all the generations of pig breeding.

BertrandRussell · 30/01/2016 09:10

Why aren't people dropping in on Helen all the time? Where is Alice, for example. And what's her name- the baby friend she had with the little girl? Tom? Tony?

redshoeblueshoe · 30/01/2016 09:18

SmallLegs that's clearly it. Pat has not become Patbot, she's just glad she doesn't have to bother about her extremely irritating dd.
On a different note Smalllegs have you got a new phone ? I barely recognised you without your coded post Grin

ArgyMargy · 30/01/2016 09:20

Why don't these people ever use the Internet? A simple google of black pudding and pregnancy would out Knob as a liar within seconds. And anyone who knows anyone who's recently had a baby would spot the lies about midwives and scans and pre-eclampsia and oh yes black pudding. The "I've asked Helen and she's not anorexic" was the icing on the uneaten cake for me - a key feature of eating disorders being secrecy and denial.

Gruach · 30/01/2016 09:23

It's astounding isn't it? She lives at the heart of the village she's lived in all her life, surrounded by people who either love, like or have reason to care about her. She set up and ran a successful business in a neighbouring town, created and marketed her own product. Has a small child at school - presumably with friends who might be invited home (with their parents). And yet - she now appears to be almost completely isolated; and even the people who do see her don't actually "see". Terrifying.

enochroot · 30/01/2016 09:36

I think the SWs are trying to make the point that her plight is invisible. Obviously it is for far too many victims but it doesn't really work as a scenario in Ambridge given what we know about the characters involved.

As a 'public information' storyline it's probably quite effective but it's time we saw some safety net swing into place and hear how to access help in that situation.
If it is public info then let's see the victim find a way out.

enochroot · 30/01/2016 09:38

See? Hear?
It's radio. You know what I mean.

JessieMcJessie · 30/01/2016 09:45

The Pat actress must be banging her head on the table every time she gets a new script.

Yes, Gruach good news, at the ripe old age of 42.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 30/01/2016 09:51

"Must say I find it strange that no one seems to have mentioned haggis in Ambridge before - through all the generations of pig breeding."

Haggis is made from sheep. (So Pip's next venture).

But yes I too am finding the idea of the shoreditch crowd eating BP funny seeing as it is so everyday here.

Gruach · 30/01/2016 10:24

Sorry! No. I meant Tom's black pudding not haggis.

Gruach · 30/01/2016 10:27

Wonderful! Flowers

BYOSnowman · 30/01/2016 10:40

I thought the David and Ruth bit was to show the model of how great pip and Matthew could be.

I think it would be great if they got together and emigrated to nz after Ruth finally admits the nz sheep farmer is pips dad

Scarydinosaurs · 30/01/2016 11:09

Hopefully someone will flag anemia and it will trigger some help for her.

Rob is just getting more confident and assured in his exertion of power over her.

lljkk · 30/01/2016 11:11

why does everyone seem to think [Rob]'s so wonderful?

neah, Ian & Kirsty still loathe him, Adam is too self-centred to think about it but not exactly a fan. Charlie knows Rob is an arse but Charlie doesn't hold grudges, either. Roy quipped "Well, he's not everybody's cup of tea"

People say Helen looks pale, but does she actually look thin?

I'm confused, is Mike Tucker coming back to the village??

Gruach · 30/01/2016 11:17

Mike? He was looking for part time work at Berrow Farm wasn't he? Perhaps Adam will find something for him in his new Pip sponsored cow project.

Suppose it depends on whether the SWs actually had a long term Ambridge plan for him or were just easing him out gently for verisimilitude.

BertrandRussell · 30/01/2016 11:18

I really fancy a haggis supper.

Oooooh, or a white pudding supper......

BertrandRussell · 30/01/2016 11:19

I know I've said this before, but Tony must have his doubts about Rob after the cricket thing.........

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 30/01/2016 11:21

Anaemia on its own wouldn't be that big a cobcern but it might prompt Rob to notice she isn't eating. (I don't think he cares to notice at the moment. He just assumes)

Scarydinosaurs · 30/01/2016 11:26

Depends how anemic? She may need an iron IV?

That would certainly ring alarm bells.

Gruach · 30/01/2016 11:28

Never had white pudding ...

I'm rather fond of black pudding breakfasts. Or was, when I ate meat. But what I miss more is the game season. Queuing up outside the butchers in Edinburgh. Assessing the feathered stuff at the farmers' market. Sigh. And now I live far from any water all my fishing is done by Ocado ...

Abraid2 · 30/01/2016 11:36

redshoe exciting about your granddaughter-to-be!

firesidechat · 30/01/2016 11:42

I thought the lovey dovey scene with David and Ruth was a bit ominous, but that could just be the sw toying with us again. As soon as A says they can't imagine a future without B in it, you know you should be planning for B's funeral.

Gruach · 30/01/2016 11:47

The word "ominous" did hover didn't it?

Ruth's come back and set them on the right path. Much protestation of how they couldn't manage without her ... But David's tired of the slog and it sounds as if Pip has both her personal and farming future sewn up.

Hmm ...Grin

firesidechat · 30/01/2016 11:56

I'm feeling so manipulated by the Archers at the moment. It's not because the storyline is uncomfortably believable, it's because it's totally unbelievable - Pat being the worst example. You just knew that she going to say "let's ask Rob" before she even did it. Aghhhhh.

I'm not even angry at Rob any more, it's the writers of this tosh that I'm raging at when I throw my radio across the kitchen. I haven't actually thrown it yet, but it's getting close.

I'm not liking anyone in TA at the moment and that's not good if they want to keep people listening. I don't even try to listen these days because it's more pain than pleasure.
