If pip and Matthew are the new David and Ruth I will have to stand my early assertion that soc was brought in to kill the archers off so it can be replaced by a reality radio show

Still thinking he will end up with another cow girl and go off to Canada. Not sure I can bear the thought of being subjected to a heartbroken pip

It pisses me off no end how everyone (including pip) thinks she is the next coming.

BYOSnowman · 29/01/2016 09:33

Matthew has shown no character whatsoever and seems to exist purely to make kissy noises with pip, tell pip how great she is and act badly in an attempt to make the pip actress not seem so bad.

mummytime · 29/01/2016 09:41

I finally listened to last night episode during the school run.
First I'm a bit bored by the lets restore everything to how it was theme of SOC. And was anyone ever really that interested in Borsetshire Land? And would Brian in his mid 70s really want to take back chairmanship (although I admit he does seem a bit bored).

Miranda was presented as an ex-show jumper or something, but they are now writing her as a Lindon fashionister. We really need to take over as archivists.

BYOSnowman · 29/01/2016 09:43

You're right - she was presented as a horsey person and that's why he wanted a lot of land to build her stables etc wasn't it?

They've obv realised they have too many single women in ambridge in that age bracket

ppeatfruit · 29/01/2016 09:44

Blimey I wouldn't trust Justin as far as I could throw him, let alone arse kiss in the way Brian.JD and Lil are doing. (taps nose sagely) It'll end in tears mark my words. Grin

I LIKE Pip and Mathew, young love and all that it's sweet. Grin

Gruach · 29/01/2016 09:56

Matthew has shown no character whatsoever

Careful what you wish for. I complained bitterly about Rob's characterlessness during his first few weeks in Ambridge.

And was anyone ever really that interested in BL?

Me! Me! I love BL. Always so much potential for spite and skullduggery - and they rarely disappoint. Also, there appear to be only two women with professional (non-caring ) occupations in Borcetshire - and one of them is only allowed to nod in response to Ruth, so I'd like to keep Annabel. Though it sounds as if she's about to be dropped.

BYOSnowman · 29/01/2016 10:10

I find young love incredibly dull tbh

redshoeblueshoe · 29/01/2016 11:04

Let Pip be happy with Matthew - preferably in New Zealand. I too think that the Fairbretheren are more irritating, and I am mystified as to why they would even want to live in Ambridge.

BYOSnowman · 29/01/2016 11:07

But saying the fairbrethren are more irritating than pipthew is like saying losing an eye is worse than losing an arm

ppeatfruit · 29/01/2016 11:11

I agree about BL Gruach It's fun to hear who'll get shafted next Grin I like the way Lil is 'playing' Justin and her sister, BIL too !

redshoeblueshoe · 29/01/2016 11:15

BYOS - sorry I worded that badly. I meant that I find the Fairbretheren more annoying than Matthew.

Pip however is in a league of her own Grin

BYOSnowman · 29/01/2016 11:18

Pip thinks she herself is supeeeeeerb.

AskingForAPal · 29/01/2016 11:44

"It pisses me off no end how everyone (including pip) thinks she is the next coming."

I KNOW.

And second Pseudo's question about where Pip does get being a little joker from. It's not David that's for sure, and I'll be fucked if it's Ruth. Er, Jill? a previous unmentioned cowman with whom Ruth did some late-night lambing in 1992?

Pip is excruciating. She really is. She REALLY is.

AskingForAPal · 29/01/2016 11:48

"Pip is basically the future of the show, were very aware that when we think about the characters, we're not thinking about the next 12 months but the next 12 or 50 years." ARRRGH.

BYOSnowman · 29/01/2016 11:50

They need to have a better think about what an unlike able character she is

BYOSnowman · 29/01/2016 11:51

They need a better actress too

AskingForAPal · 29/01/2016 12:04

I agree, it's their fault not hers. I've seen the old Pip actress in stuff and she was only a tiny bit annoying. They're trying to write her as all confident and devil may care, but she's not actually NICE at all, unlike Kirsty or Debbie who are both really enjoyable to listen to while still being confident etc.

She just seems to bob around the farm soaking up praise from all and sundry. I don't remember Ed constantly getting cheerleading squads turning up to tell everyone what a great odd job man he is, or people gawping over hedgerows to remark at Adam's amazing tractor skills. So why her? She's lived on that farm all her life, she studied farming, she bloody well OUGHT to be a capable farmer. So why all this superfluous wonderment about it?

BYOSnowman · 29/01/2016 12:08

Is it because she is female and it's pretty amazing that a woman can manage anything on a farm really

redshoeblueshoe · 29/01/2016 12:16

Well maybe that explains the whole Knob/Hellin sl. I don't like Hellin. She has been vile to everyone including her own mother, and best friends. She is so smug about her so-called perfect life.
This is the whole reason I don't watch EE. I was watching it many years ago with my dm and I couldn't get my head around the fact that every single character was vile - so why would anybody care about them.
Knob is vile to everyone so we want to see him get his comeuppance. Hellin is always treated as a special snowflake - and I really don't get it. Even if she escapes from Knobs clutches she won't change one iota. Why does Patbot behave like she doe towards her, why does Patbot worship Knob ?
If Pip is the future I might just give up now.
I think I might just get rid of my radio Grin

enochroot · 29/01/2016 12:19

Matthew didn't seem to be planning on driving south but she's dead keen to visit him in Penrith. She's going to be heartbroken and end up with a Fairbrother, unfortunately.
Unless....... she clears off to Canada. Surely Josh and Ben feature in the future of Ambridge.

redshoeblueshoe · 29/01/2016 12:20

x-post. I also don't understand why there is so much gushing praise for everyone. I don't know any adults who say everyone is sooooo amazing just for doing such everyday routine things.
Helen can just about manage a part-time job amaaaazing
Knob ditto

The rest of the world must be totally incredible by their standards

BYOSnowman · 29/01/2016 12:24

It's what happens when you have sw who have never had a 'proper' job and have only lived in showbiz land

My prediction(as up thread) is that pip shags Toby because Matthew breaks her heart but we end up with her marrying Rex

And there will be some crappy sl about the wedding and Lizzie and fairbrother snr. Yawn

BYOSnowman · 29/01/2016 12:25

Also, pip seems to be written with a dog in heat in mind

redshoeblueshoe · 29/01/2016 12:50

Hellin - manages to put a few labels in school uniform Star
Knob works part-time in a shop Star
Knob does school run Star Star Star

Really wtf

Minimammoth · 29/01/2016 13:03

We never hear the working parents having to leave kids at after school club, to be picked up on their way home from work do we?
