peasant food Shock

KingscoteStaff · 27/01/2016 19:15

Oh Emma...

BYOSnowman · 27/01/2016 19:18

I need a synopsis!! What happened to Emma?

tibbawyrots · 27/01/2016 19:19

peasant food?

Has he had his head up his arse for the last few years? Not that I would eat it myself, but it is a very popular (love it/hate it) food. And I thought he was at the meeting where Tom brought it up?

And I bet those tops do go back. :(

BYOSnowman · 27/01/2016 19:20

So rob called black pudding peasant food?

He's so out of touch - it's what all the trendy hipsters are eating for their retro breakfast these days

GypsyFl0ss · 27/01/2016 19:24

Helen sounded so happy with Tom and so cowed by Rob. I'm really hoping that Tom noticed this change but suspect that he's currently obsessed by black puddings instead.

Poor Emma, she sounded just like her Mum. Unsettled and anxious about her place in the team.

BertrandRussell · 27/01/2016 19:24

I felt so sorry for Emma tonight.

KingscoteStaff · 27/01/2016 19:34

You buy your clothes from the charity shop darling, while I spend goodness knows how much on hunt subs and hiring a horse once (twice?) a week.

LillianGish · 27/01/2016 19:38

Tom will never notice how Helen is - but he'll fight Knob to the death for his sausages and black puddings. Kirsty is definitely on the case though - "Maybe she can't answer her phone". I'm wondering if she and Tom will bond over a hatred of Knob - and then Tom might be able to see what is going on once it's been pointed out to him.

FinestGrundyTurkey · 27/01/2016 19:38

I didn't feel sorry for Emma - she was extremely & unnecessarily snarky

AnnieNoMouse · 27/01/2016 19:38

JeanPaul - I thought he had a voice, a very bad french accent as I remember. It was in the days when I'd only catch the very occasional episode, so I could be wrong.

I didn't think 'poor' Emma tonight - I thought she just sounded jealous, and in a catty way too ("Maybe Helen doesn't want to talk to you")

AnnieNoMouse · 27/01/2016 19:40

I understand that Rob has taken on some of Helen's hours at the shop - but why does that give him the right to talk to Tom as if he, Rob, is the third partner in the business? In fact, he spoke to Tom as if he was Tom's boss.

BertrandRussell · 27/01/2016 19:47

Oh yes, she was jealous and snarky-and I don't usually like her- but she's worked soooooo hard, and to see Kirsty stepping in like that- it must have been very hard.

GypsyFl0ss · 27/01/2016 19:51

Yes I agree and Fallon and Kirsty have a long standing friendship too.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/01/2016 19:54

Rob was utterly hateful tonight.

Emma to walk out on Fallon and become chef at the Bull?

FinestGrundyTurkey · 27/01/2016 19:57

Yes, Annie, Jean-Paul did talk sometimes - usually (always?) to Caroline - he sounded a lot like Eric Cantona iirc Grin

I couldn't see why Emma was being jealous - there's no way Kirsty can do her job, & anyway Kirsty has a job & would only be helping out. I think Emma is just one of those people who has to be No 1 with whoever she deals with (& she was very self-contradictory about Eddie too - she can make jokes about his competence, but nobody else can Confused)

Wordsaremything · 27/01/2016 20:04

Rob's not just out of touch- he's a massive phoney. Besides not spotting an obvious and high margin product, his disgust was utterly hyacinth bouquet ( suburban)

Minimammoth · 27/01/2016 20:09

Can we have a Midsomer episode, and do away with all annoyances.

Wordsaremything · 27/01/2016 20:10

Sorry posted too soon. Plus the way Helen blossomed with Tom then became cowed with rob was very well done. For those who are saying that Helen and Rob should be heard having some nice times- no, that's not how it works, sadly.

FinestGrundyTurkey · 27/01/2016 20:14

Helen not taking Kirsty's calls is exactly like Ian not taking hers

I wonder if she'll see that? (probably not)

PresidentOliviaMumsnet · 27/01/2016 20:14

Late to thread.

spiker · 27/01/2016 20:50

How did Ian/godparent thing get resolved?? Or didn't it, is it still hanging? I miss episodes and wonder if stuff got tidied up and I just missed it n weeks ago.

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 27/01/2016 21:01

Emma to walk out on Fallon and become chef at the Bull?

Yes!

Oh I HATE Rob. What a complete fucker.

But I am surprised he'd let his wife and walking incubator dress in charity shop clothes - when image is so important to him. But I guess as Helen doesn't do anything it's the only way they can show his financial abuse now (I'll never forget the Xmas market and Pat buying the train for Henry because Helen wasn't supposed to spend any money) Sad

LillianGish · 27/01/2016 21:09

Helen not taking Kirsty's calls is exactly like Ian not taking hers - I don't agree. Helen didn't answer the phone because she was too scared to answer it in front of Knob. Ian didn't take Helen's calls because he doesn't want to be friends with her anymore (Helen doesn't understand why that is because I an hasn't explained).

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 27/01/2016 21:13

De-lurking to join in...

Now is the time for Rob to die - I find myself swearing at the radio at everything he says and every vile thing he does. Hateful bastard.

spiker - Ian finally met Helen (well, she accosted him and he reluctantly agreed to talk to her) and said something along the lines of 'Are you having a f**ing laugh' re: the Godparent thing. He has told her, very firmly, no. She just capitulated with weak protestations when she could have defended herself or at least confronted Rob over what he had said to Ian. I don't even recognise her character any more - it's getting infuriating to the point where I don't even want to listen.
