SOC has a bit of a track record of saying different things to different people. There was an interview when he was all coy and claimed that he was amazed by what the listeners were reading into the HelRob storyline, but it was at a point when there were a number of very classic signs that couldn't possibly have been put in by accident, so I think he was pulling someone's leg.

At other times he's said that Rob was initially brought in as Brine's successor and the idea was that he would just be a philanderer, but they decided to make it darker - and I think in fact that may have been before he became editor. He has also said that they take a lot of professional advice on how EA works to try to ensure they get this storyline right.

So all in all I don't think there ever was a time when SOC didn't realise what was going on and he is at least innocent of being unaware that this was an EA story.

I think SoC is an arse who talks bollocks.

I agree Mitfordhons - & although I'd love the Knob/Hellin storyline to come to a satisfying end, it seems SOC will string it out forever.

YY to all comments on the sheer madness/ unlikelihood of the job share being accepted in a rl farm and indeed salary payments being switched from separate accounts to the joint one, seemingly with no hesitation.

Wish Tony would reappear, he may be best placed to voice serious comments on Knob's recent actions

The trouble with zombies is that they are philosophically unsatisfactory.
