We love Charlie. But we want Adam and Ian to get married. What will happen in Ambridge in the pre-Christmas thread?

Just listened to Friday - we are 2 weeks from Christmas and David didn't even ask whether Ruth will be back by then?

OP posts:

Oh no I looked! That's not The Rob and Helen in my head. That man wouldn't say darling at all.

Minimammoth · 15/12/2015 08:14

And Helen is fair haired( aren't all Helens.

Seriouslyffs · 15/12/2015 08:23

I woke up thinking about this and in my sleep deprived blur was musing that Helen could bring a case against Radio 4 as her employers- the DV report proves that they know what he's doing and so she has a case against them...Confused

ArgyMargy · 15/12/2015 08:23

I reckon Rooth booked her own open ticket because she knew she wanted to stay more than 2 weeks but didn't want to mention it at the time. She's gone to find herself, hasn't she? And tbh if I were in NZ now I definitely wouldn't want to leave that beautiful country in full summer to come back to this rain-sodden gloom, Xmas or no Xmas.

BYOSnowman · 15/12/2015 08:29

Even with kids you haven't seen much of throughout the year? Especially when your youngest is still sobbing into the cereal cupboard over the loss of his granny.

That boy seems to get no emotional support

Gruach · 15/12/2015 08:36

He has a bike. What more could he need?

redshoeblueshoe · 15/12/2015 08:51

Seriously Xmas Grin I woke up this morning wondering what new torture Knob inflicted on Hellin last night Xmas Sad

MsButteryMash · 15/12/2015 08:54

Totally agree about Helen and all Helens being blonde! It is really weird seeing pics of the actors – though David and Brian are a good match with what's in my head.

BitOutOfPractice · 15/12/2015 09:28

Erm no. Not all Helens are naturally blonde

BYOSnowman · 15/12/2015 09:49

I think of Helens as brunettes!!

BitOutOfPractice · 15/12/2015 10:11

Poor Charlie. I really felt for him. He handled himself well I thought

enochroot · 15/12/2015 10:25

Charlie is meant to be contrasted with Rob, I think. Similar on the surface but very, very different.

Did anyone else think Rob made a slight slip up at the reception when he made out to JD he had been helping re-fit the village hall but very clearly hadn't? Jennifer missed it.

Shallishanti · 15/12/2015 10:25

actually that guy playing Rob does look quite sinister
(that's skill, a radio actor acting in a photo)

redshoeblueshoe · 15/12/2015 10:34

enochoot I thought I'd missed something but he didn't help did he.

BitOutOfPractice · 15/12/2015 10:34

I am deeply shocked by all this looking at pictures malarky!

MsButteryMash · 15/12/2015 10:45

It gets addictive Bit!

selsigfach · 15/12/2015 10:49

Glad I'm not the only one who has Archers dreams! I have had the 3 following dreams:

  1. I was a lodger at Helen and Knob's. Hideous.
  2. I was Helen's sister and we all lived at Bridge Farm, apart from Knob who was just a boyfriend. Mum/Pat was so fed up of having Knob visit that she pushed Helen into moving out and living with him, where he could abuse her even more.
  3. I had a massive crush on Jenny who looked like a cross between Mary Berry and Helen Mirren and wore very tight trousers which showed off her amazing bum. I'm married and only 29 so I can't say JD would normally be my type. I need to stop listening, don't I?
BitOutOfPractice · 15/12/2015 10:52

I hate accidentally seeing a picture!

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 15/12/2015 11:16

Time I got on this thread! Grin

So I guess when Hellon realises Ian is giving her the cold shoulder, she'll want to have a chat or go and see him, but obviously Rob will prevent that happening...

LillianGish · 15/12/2015 11:17

Jenny has gone the way of Patbot.

Butteredparsnips · 15/12/2015 12:36

Delurking a whole thread behind. I love these threads, but it takes commitment. I have used up a mornings annual leave to catch up when I am supposed to be tidying up for Xmas!

I listened briefly in the late eighties, but only started listening regularly when Helennearly ran Moicke over.

I shouted so loudly at the radio on Sunday (while driving down the M1 in the fog) that I woke DH up. Bloody Knob.

Am really hoping Joe does have a happy and healthy new year.

Thank you all for sharing my rage.

FernieB · 15/12/2015 13:05

Just caught up with this thread and TA! DH is working from home and has had to listen to me ranting about Knob over lunch - he's decided to drive to the office tomorrow Blush. Can't understand why Ian went through with the wedding without at least asking Adam or Helen about what Knob said. As for Ruth, does she know she has three children, two of whom are still at school? Good job the boys have their Gran around.

It's all building up for a New Years Anniversary 'event'. I have people staying at New Year. Do I shut my self in the kitchen and ignore them or force them to sit in silence and listen too?

trevortrevorslatterfry · 15/12/2015 13:24

YY mini all Helens are fairhaired in my imagination

redshoeblueshoe · 15/12/2015 13:36

Fernie - make sure you get a set of headphones for Christmas - then you can just be testing them remember not to swear too loudly in front of the elves

DadDadDad · 15/12/2015 13:36

Helens may be fair-haired in your fantasy world, but what about real life? Off the top of my head, I can think of 5 Helens I've known personally, how many are blonde? 1 Confused
