Do you know that I was 3 months pregnant when the first thread started - DD was 2 yesterday Cake

That must also mean that Poppy Grundy's 2nd birthday has passed by unremarked upon...

I've stopped listening when the continuity announcers mention Rob's going to be in an episode. He's turning into a flamin' pantomime villain. I want everyone who's been affected by his appallingness to be in the pub at the same time one night and experience a lightbulb moment, pool resources and get the arse drummed out of the village. Hah.

laplumeofmyaunt · 22/10/2015 08:19

Wasn't it suspected botulism that the doctor believed killed the madam of the brothel Cathy Ames ends up owning in East of Eden, when in fact it was Cathy who murdered her. I seem to remember the doctor telling the brothel cook to get rid of all the canned vegetables.

ppeatfruit · 22/10/2015 08:50

IorekBryn You remember ALL the dialogue in your dream ????? WOW it's good too, send it to the script writers!!!!

Gruach · 22/10/2015 09:30

IorekByrnisonsArmour Oh my! What a stupendous dream. I demand that they work that conversation into the script. Grin

So impressed with all the botulism knowledge and reminiscence appearing here.

SmallLegs I was under the impression that divorce does not, of itself, negate PR. (I have no experience and if I ever studied it I've forgotten - or more probably the law has moved on.) There seem to be plenty of people on MN battling with this - particularly with regard to school choice. Ambridge law is currently conveniently vague (I relish the memory of Roy whipping the entire legal profession into urgent action to stop Kate spiriting Phoebe away.) Still think Helen's only way out now is Rob in the slurry.

Joskar · 22/10/2015 09:32

Grin Gasp Grin

ppeat I rarely remember dreams. This woke me up & my first thought was 'I must put this on TAs thread' !

I am slightly terrified of there always being Jill cooing in the background of TAs Grin

StubbleTurnips · 22/10/2015 09:39

Caught up with the last couple of episodes, Rob is ghastly.

Anyone else hear Helen groan / sigh just before he announced his big news to poor Henry.

Wonder if Pip will go into partnership with TRex and the cattle, leaving D&R breaking even on the farm without her wages.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 22/10/2015 09:46

Why on earth did she do it? I was really hoping she'd find some reason they couldn't go: she does seem increasingly to get that he's a complete shit, but won't admit it and now she's signed her bloody son over to him! I know in RL that EA is a complex thing, but you still can't help hoping in fiction that the stupid woman would not have done such a shitty thing to her own son!

(I don't think she's a stupid woman for being emotionally abused - Hellin has always been atrocious).

Fink · 22/10/2015 10:03

I see the Friday episode is being trailed with 'Charlie makes a discovery.' Now the sws are just playing with me - it's too much to hope that Rob will be uncovered before they get a lot more mileage out of the story, but it's so tantalising!

redshoeblueshoe · 22/10/2015 10:07

MrsKwazii - I don't think Hel is pregnant either.
Iorek - that's disturbing, as I read it Ruth's voice was actually Heatherpets.

Gruach · 22/10/2015 10:08

(Fink - you'll love the Archers Spoilers thread. And avoid lynching on this one ...)

R4 · 22/10/2015 10:11

For hatches, matches & dispatches you get the certificate there and then. Why didn't HellRob get Henry's PR certificate immediately - is there some checking process to be done?

ppeatfruit · 22/10/2015 10:29

Seek Hell and Henry could do a moonlight flit with Kirstie's help I suppose.

Lancelottie · 22/10/2015 10:39

Yes, but... Kate was leaving the country, wasn't she? How on earth had she got a passport that quickly for newborn Feebs anyway? That soon after birth I was barely able to find the milk in the fridge.

GruntledOne · 22/10/2015 12:59

They wouldn't have got their certificate immediately because they were doing it through the County Court, not the Registry Office. Lawyers will tell you that county court are notoriously slow in dealing with paperwork - also inefficient, so with any luck they'll lose the file.

trevortrevorslatterfry · 22/10/2015 13:29

Flowers bigbuttons and anyone for whom the RobHel storyline is close to home

AnnieNoMouse · 22/10/2015 13:36

Perhaps Lillian could harvest the botulism spores and set up a Botox business next to Kate's yoga retreat?

Botulism and jarred vegetables also gets a mention in Carole Shield's The Stone Diaries.

WipsGlitter · 22/10/2015 13:38

Agree the Rob storyline is very uncomfortable. And I want to see it wrapped up as quickly as possible. But in reality women live like that for years and years.

squeaver · 22/10/2015 13:44

It really is amazing how the R&H storyline is playing out exactly like so many threads on the relationships board. The SWs should be commended on doing their research (I'm convinced it's all on here..)

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 22/10/2015 14:05

gruach you are of course correct re divirce and PR but this is Ambridge so the fairy will fix it. You can request a residency order is made at time of divorce if the other parent is looking to be difficult - rare afaikbut it has happened i believe in cases of abuse- or you apply to the court, pay money, undergo sw inspections etc. Etc. And after a long time youight get one...although i think they might be changing the name from RO to something else.

I know because I had to look all this up because as thing stand my abusive ex can stop me from taking my children anroad on holiday without his written permission as he has PR

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 22/10/2015 14:08

Do you notice how often nob makes things about gender.
"You might think you can get away with kind of thing with my wife" [because she is a weak woman]
And "if he's any kind of man" he will.

Toomuchtea · 22/10/2015 14:16

Yes - completely ignoring the fact that most people, particularly electricians who are certainly like gold dust in this part of the world and can pick and choose what they want to do, are going to walk away very fast the moment they get a message like that.

Toomuchtea · 22/10/2015 14:20

Another thought on Helen being so unkeen to tell anyone she's pregnant - she's hardly likely to insist Rob tells his parents, is she? And therefore missing out on another chance to expose his lies. I do wonder, though, what Rob would do if his parents do suddenly pop up. He was utterly confident in his ability to talk Helen round before - now, not so much.

Or will Henry suddenly wonder why he only has one lot of grandparents, now he has a Daddy (shudder)?

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 22/10/2015 14:37

He's telling everyone super-quick to make sure she has no way to back out, isn't he?
