Sorry but I couldn't resist an opportunity for puns galore Grin

the children have just been in a production of Noye's Fludde and that was my guess too.

still waiting for the random alleluias to wear off.

Gruach · 06/10/2015 15:04

Wiki:

Noye's Fludde is a one-act opera largely intended for amateur performers, particularly children, created by the British composer Benjamin Britten. First performed on 18 June 1958 at that year's Aldeburgh Festival, it is based on the 15th-century Chester "mystery" or "miracle" play which recounts the biblical story of Noah, the flood and the ark. Britten specified that the opera should be staged in churches or large halls, not in a theatre.

Sounds like a match made in Heaven.

ppeatfruit · 06/10/2015 15:12

Yes Tilly Button and her little friends would really enjoy it Grin

Gruach · 06/10/2015 15:22

If it is Noye's Fludde it points to two things: a definite Boxing Day afternoon stand alone drama and, probably, one of those dreadful yoof heavy episodes (like the one over New Year) where we haven't a clue who is speaking or even who's actually there.

InimitableJeeves · 06/10/2015 16:19

It's highly unlikely HP could have gone to the graduation ceremony even if she was hale and hearty anyway, given that universities usually strictly limit tickets to two per graduate - unless Ruth and David were planning to give up their tickets to the grannies and go and watch the televised version in another room. I have to admit it never occurred to me to invite my grandmother to my graduation, and frankly she wouldn't have been interested anyway.

InimitableJeeves · 06/10/2015 16:21

If the play is going to be about people standing shoulder to shoulder against adversity, is it going to be something like Coward's "This Happy Breed"?

DadDadDad · 06/10/2015 16:57

Or some Gilbert and Sullivan:

The Pirates of Parmesance

The Mi-curd-o

The Yogurt of the Guard

The Gorgonzolaeirs

Travelledtheworld · 06/10/2015 17:03

you have obviously been working hard all afternoon Dadx3

DadDadDad · 06/10/2015 17:12

I was in a long meeting where all the presenters were on a poor quality line, so there's only so much concentrating one can do...

lottiegarbanzo · 06/10/2015 18:01

They cannot allow Rob to cause Henry's death, they really can't. Somehow that idea feels more horrible than anything else that could possibly happen - too horrible. Perhaps because Henry is so hard-won and loved but so vulnerable. Which is the point, I know.

While Rob will 'naturally' sideline Henry, make him the villain, the problem child (shuddery enough already), I think his inclination is more towards neglect and slightly callous 'toughening up' - ideally packing him off to boarding school (better get a job then Rob, I don't think Peggy's going to pay) than anything overtly malicious.

I do wonder whether some minor neglectful / over-toughening incident with potentially scary consequences might alert Pat and Tony. Or Johnny. I can see Johnny being Henry's saviour in some way - sort of redemption for his role in Tony's accident.

lottiegarbanzo · 06/10/2015 18:06

Oh yes and note to Linda, is there some sort of easter / pagan, passion play / wicker man crossover production out there? We have a lead actor for you.

Gruach · 06/10/2015 18:13

lottie ... That isn't why (normal, nice) people send their children to boarding school.

lottiegarbanzo · 06/10/2015 18:37

Well no but Rob isn't normal or nice. It would serve a purpose - getting Henry out of dreamed-of-golden-child's way and detaching him from Helen.

lottiegarbanzo · 06/10/2015 18:39

Also it plays to the idea of 'doing the best' for him, very visibly, while having quite different intent. Very Rob. Moot point though as they wouldn't be able to afford it.

lottiegarbanzo · 06/10/2015 18:41

Sorry to have put a damper on the cheese puns btw just the idea of Rob harming Henry has been lurking in my mind since mentioned a few pages back.

Gruach · 06/10/2015 18:44

True. I can see him insisting that Henry then did something improving in the holidays rather than coming home.

But let's hope Rob is either in clink or under the ground by then. (It doesn't anyway sound as if the actor is keen on a lengthy period of being public enemy number 1.)

lottiegarbanzo · 06/10/2015 19:00

Yes, I'd hope that's me looking too far into the future too. Uggh.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 06/10/2015 19:02

If it is true to dv sl then either he will be nice to Henry but abusive to Hellin in front of him (which is of course child abuse). Or EA to Henry. Or he will make up stories about Henry beong horrible to new baby and try to divide and conquer.

I reckon he is going for taking both kids.
Unless the point of pr sl is that he drops idea like hot brick once his 'real' child is on horizon.

Really though nothing horrible has to happen to Henry or new baby. Having kids with an abuser is horrible enough. Sad and growing up as a child 8n an abusive household is really not nice.

CuttedUpPear · 06/10/2015 19:12

Do we reckon Debbie and Adam would be up for a ménage à trois then?
I bet it's high on Charlie's wishlist.

Gruach · 06/10/2015 19:15

Mike applying for a job with Berrow Farm???

lottiegarbanzo · 06/10/2015 19:37

OMG CuttedUpPear!

I thought the point of PR was as an instrument of control - 'you think you can leave me? You cannot escape my influence' - presented outwardly as heartfelt care and responsibility for all-round approval.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 06/10/2015 20:23

lottie i think that was how Hellin saw it: as a door slamming. But you never know with TA. It might just be another dead end sl.

StubbleTurnips · 06/10/2015 20:58

Just caught up.... I predict a christmas edition of DIY SOS to get the building formerly known as Justin Elliott village hall done up.
Loads of sob stories to capture, and an endless supply of ginger biscuits for Nick Knowles.

EBearhug · 06/10/2015 21:01

Ew, CuttedUpPear!

Imbroglio · 06/10/2015 21:06

I don't think Rob will harm Henry physically, but he wants Henry to worship him so that he has more influence.

He'll use Henry to get at Helen and break her down, and it won't be long before Tony and Pat have to make huge compromises just to see the boy.
