Sorry but I couldn't resist an opportunity for puns galore Grin

Aargh sorry - yes, it was Fallon. And I thought I was paying attention today too Blush

Stickerrocks · 04/10/2015 19:15

Let her go to the doctor by herself!!!!

R4 · 04/10/2015 19:20

Disappointed that it wasn't Doc Locke.

selsigfach · 04/10/2015 20:00

What will she say when the Dr/midwife asks her about any abuse in the home?

BYOSnowman · 04/10/2015 20:08

Did rob goes with her I'm sure the midwife will raise her eyebrows at his attitude. Hopefully Helen will see the same midwife (Amy?) throughout

InimitableJeeves · 04/10/2015 20:34

How lovely for Henry to know that, in Knob's eyes, the best thing ever to have happened in either his or Helen's life will be the new baby. That is therefore presumably meant to relegate his birth to third place behind the new baby and her wedding to Knob. Poor kid, the rejection process is starting already.

Imbroglio · 04/10/2015 20:35

I think rob is insisting it's a boy so that either it's a boy and he claims the credit, or its a girl and he's got another stick to beat Helen with. He'll insist she has another baby straight away.

Imbroglio · 04/10/2015 20:38

Robs grooming of johnny is worrying. He is turning the boy against Adam but also I think against tony and the others at bridge farm.

SevenOhTwo · 04/10/2015 20:56

Yes, R4 I agree with that too! It was a bonkers plan to move in the first place - and David would never have agreed to it as quickly as he did - but seeing as he did I see why Ruth feels as she does too.

Helen seemed to be getting a little more assertive there - successfully stopped Knob asking Henry about the Hunt - but then gave up when it came to the Dr. Will she 'forget' the appointment time again like with the school incident?

SevenOhTwo · 04/10/2015 20:58

And not sure I'd be buying a Fairbrethren goose. Some kids from the city come and pitch their tent up and buy a load of birds with no experience whatsoever and all of a sudden it's quality artisanal local food etc. Wonder what comedy sabotage the Grundys will be coming up with…

CuttedUpPear · 04/10/2015 20:58

selsigfach why would that question come up with the doctor/midwife? It's not a standard query.

Can I raise the spectre of Carol please? The news that JennyDarling has been bewitched by her got completely buried under HP carking it on the A1(M).
Jenny was gurgling happily into her elderflower cordial and singing Mrs T's praises. WTAF?

selsigfach · 04/10/2015 21:14

It is a standard enquiry, Cutted. MW needs to be sure, not only of mum's wellbeing, but also that midwives will be safe when carrying out home visits.

lottiegarbanzo · 04/10/2015 21:16

Domestic abuse is a standard query on the MW booking in appointment form. They're very willing to skate over it though, IME.

The doctor just checks dates and your blood pressure and makes the MW appointment (or specialist). Not an exciting appointment to attend.

BYOSnowman · 04/10/2015 21:19

When I saw the gp when I found out I was pregnant (planned) the first thing she asked me was whether or not I wanted to keep it! If Helen was asked that I could imagine a hesitation!

CuttedUpPear · 04/10/2015 21:19

Gosh is it? Well I'm impressed. It's a long time since I was pregnant, things have moved on for the better.
If I had been asked that things might have been different for me.

CuttedUpPear · 04/10/2015 21:23

Anyway...about Carol and JennyDarling? What changed her mind then?

R4 · 04/10/2015 21:31

Dunno. When witchcraft or voodoo was suspected, then JD was doing amateur sleuthing. But when Carol admitted to common-or-garden mercy killing, then JD seemed to find the idea v reasonable and re-assessed Carol to "caring and compassionate".
SWs' way of digging themselves out of a hole?

CuttedUpPear · 04/10/2015 21:35

Did she admit it? I didn't catch that bit.

R4 · 04/10/2015 21:50

From catch-up 25.09.15:
Carol has a flat tyre, so Jennifer keenly steps in to drive Hester to the train station - Hester's going back to Bristol today. Having tried to get more information out of Hester about John Tregorran's death and Carol's supposed involvement, Jennifer goes to the burial ground where Carol is also. They have a poignant conversation which seems to put things to rest - Carol opens up about how she loved John, and she knew that Jenny cared for him and he for her. As Carol talks of being there while he was dying, Jennifer seems to understand and falls for Carol's version of events hook, line and sinker forgets her obsession with what Carol actually did or didn't do - respecting that Carol was there for him.

EBearhug · 04/10/2015 22:08

It was a bit of a weird turn-around, because only a few scenes earlier, Lilian was telling Jenny to drop it and that if John was in such pain, Carol had been doing a kind thing, and Jenny had been going on about it still being illegal. So she goes over to Carol, and Carol says, "you need to know," and explains it all, and Jenny suddenly has a complete change of mind. There was quite a sense of, "oh God, we forgot about that story line, we're going to have to tidy it up, I know, we can just finish it off this way, and then we don't have to think about it again."

LyndaNotLinda · 04/10/2015 22:12

Flowers for you CuttedUp. I may be misreading your post but have a hug if not.

lalalonglegs · 04/10/2015 22:14

I think that the end of the Carol/Jennifer frostiness is yet another sign that the scriptwriters can't bear to develop a storyline: why would Jennifer, who is generally prim and straitlaced, let Carol off the hook like that? Wouldn't it have been more interesting if HP hadn't conveniently died on the way down from Northumberland but, instead, Ruth ended up being run ragged trying to co-run the farm and look after her very ill mother? And don't get me started on Rob not being Jess's babyfather... They go for a dramatic (relatively, this is the Archers) plotline and then bottle it completely Angry.

BYOSnowman · 04/10/2015 23:03

Agree lala. It's all style over substance.

BYOSnowman · 04/10/2015 23:04

Agree lala. All style over substance. But then even the style is a bit clunky

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/10/2015 23:12

Hang on though - wasn't Jennydarling suspicious because of some communication from John T (a letter?) that he was scared of Carol?

Wasn't that what set her off snffing and sleuthng in the first place?
