Chocolate Chip cookie anyone?

OP posts:
funambulist · 17/08/2015 19:18

Rob's really homophobic isn't he? Surely the scales will drop from Helen's eyes if Rob claims he can't work at Berrow because he isn't gay.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/08/2015 19:18

The builders were on the green. Flood defences round the Am? Repairing the Village Hall (clearly very badly)? Working on the remaining council houses?

funambulist · 17/08/2015 19:20

Surely the scales will fall from Helen's eyes if Rob claims he can't work at Berrow because he's not gay.

As other posters have pointed out there's now a convenient local job vacancy for Pip.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/08/2015 19:20

Cue Pip's appointment as Berrow Farm Manager! Well done whoever predicted that.

funambulist · 17/08/2015 19:21

Sorry for the double post. Not sure what happened there.

R4 · 17/08/2015 19:52

What will Helen and Rob do for money now? Oh, that £10,000 will be very handy. What luckyHmm timing.

However, to lose one worker (Adam) may be regarded as a misfortune but to lose another (Rob) looks like carelessness. Charlie should be looking over his shoulder. (What was that rubbish about one minute margins are tight and the next minute we are bringing in a consultant?)

R4 · 17/08/2015 19:53

And who was it suggested Pip for Rob's job. Looks like a good prediction.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/08/2015 19:55

Adam was a contractor and Charlie decided not to renew the contract. A little bit different.

RockNRollNerd · 17/08/2015 20:17

Consultant is sometimes the 'cover' used by forensic accountants when they've been called in to investigate what's going on. Rob is clearly desperate to not be found out - he's made the threats that he's been bullied out of the business and he's also hedged his bets now by resigning in the hope that even if they discover a fraud he won't go down as being fired.

twas me that suggested Pip for Rob's job

Stickerrocks · 17/08/2015 20:29

I can't get to iPlayer. What made Rob have a hissy fit?

Eastpoint · 17/08/2015 20:32

How could Pip get Rob's job? She's just finished university, she has no experience of working in such an industrial unit & has never actually run anything. Do people really walk out of well paid jobs, surely he has a case for constructive dismissal if he feels he's been victimised? I really dislike Rob, yeuchh.

smink · 17/08/2015 20:43

Rob's job is surely more Debbie's level than Pip's.

I think knob might be going to claim constructive dismissal due to sexual harrassment.

I also think whoever predicted he will muscle into Hellin's role at Bridge Farm may well be on the money. Either that or he will insist Hellin moves with him, possibly to force Bridge Farm's hand to keep him employed locally.

BYOSnowman · 17/08/2015 20:44

Pip getting robs job would be ludicrous. She is totally under qualified.

Rob will dress this up to Helen that Charlie has been bullying him and there will be a compromise agreement so both sides will save face (no one wants to sack someone for fraud and look like a bad judge of character and they will want to silence rob - legally, not lethally)

R4 · 17/08/2015 20:45

Sticker we started the scene with Charlie noticing that a paperclip was out of place. He then asked Rob about the dodgy impregnation figures. Rob got defensive and listed every complaint that Charlie had made from Day One (an easy swipe because Charlie finds fault with everyone all. the. time.*) Rob then got indignant and walked out.

  • remember he also found fault with Debbie and got her offloaded, too. I'm surprised that there is anyone left to run the Estate.

I agree that, thinking about it, it will be ridiculous for Pip to get the job. She has very little experience, especially of this form of agribusiness. I hope that Charlie has to do it as a stopgap and makes a hash of it.Grin

Stickerrocks · 17/08/2015 21:51

R4, the dodgiest impregnations all seem to involve Rob (H must be by now & I'm still not convinced about Jess). Please don't tell me he's developing a sideline in heifers now....

Gruach · 17/08/2015 21:54

My, that 10k is about to disappear fast.

Perhaps they'll offer Pip an emergency role as interim manager - and she'll still be there in 20 years.

BertrandRussell · 17/08/2015 22:01

Is Rob going to try constructive
dismissal?

EBearhug · 17/08/2015 22:39

What I'd really like is for Charlie to sue Rob for breach of contract (not giving notice etc.) I know it won't happen, but I was driving along, thinking, "What a complete tosser Rob is." And then I considered not going swimming in case you were all having a good discussion about it here.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 17/08/2015 23:08

I've missed two episodes but caught tonight's. I thought the scene with Charlie and Rob was marvellously written. He'll never be able to win a constructive dismissal claim in the real world

Huge thanks for the Nelson reminisces too. I had to go and Google to make fill in the gaps Grin

EBearhug · 17/08/2015 23:22

He'll never be able to win a constructive dismissal claim in the real world

And in Borsetshire?

BertrandRussell · 17/08/2015 23:25

I bet in Borsetshire he could claim discrimination for being straight and thus constructive dismissal.

Gruach · 17/08/2015 23:36

At this auspicious point (where Rob becomes a house husband) it might be worth mentioning, for the benefit of new posters, that this is the latest in a long line of threads going back two or three years at least. (Rob has been discussed extensively since he arrived.) The archive is easily found in Radio Addicts - all started by Pseudo, all close to 1000 posts long.

There's the odd glossary thrown in occasionally as well.

EBearhug · 17/08/2015 23:47

So if Rob's jobless (and walking out means he won't be entitled to any benefits or anything), is this the point at which Helen discovers she's pregnant?

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 17/08/2015 23:55

I'm only au fait with English and Welsh law. Borsetshire law is beyond me I'm afraid Wink

Helen will be delighted he's around all the time. At first. Rob will gradually chip away at her while making comments about how although he was treated terribly by Charlie he can't actually do anything about it because it's a gay conspiracy/that's just not how it works Helen if only you understood! Then he'll get his feet under the table at Bridge Farm and continue being a nasty bastard.

I'm wondering at what point do his family turn up and instead of being the dreadful, unreasonable people that don't appreciate Knob and treated him terribly we'll find out they know he's a scoundrel?

CuttedUpPear · 17/08/2015 23:57

I'm still away and can't listen!Sad

All this excitement - on a Monday as well! I remember the days when you could safely listen half asleep all week and if any excitement was due, it was reliably scheduled for a Thursday.
Ay, you knew where you were in them days.
