But he was in massive tizz about the road risk. Plus he was v. excited by the fat sum on offer. So think wasn't entirely railroaded.

If I was a SW I'd be hugely chuffed to know that this issue was being hotly debated on a MN thread!

So should Ruth have thought 'well, I railroaded this (and I'm in a bit of an unlikely storyline here) so really I won't be surprised if David announces at some point that it's not going to happen after all and that's flat?'

Pipperoo David seems far more emotionally connected to his mother and daughter (and in a rather weird way) than he does to his wife, I feel rather creeped out by the way David is 'baby-ed' both by his own daughter & his mum. I can't get over a rather sinister feeling occuring whilst I'm listening to Pip & him, bleurgh.

YY. Though I'd say their chats are more like husband/wife conversations. Which is creepy and double bleurgh.

Jill moving into Brookfield wasn't soley for her benefit, iirc Ruth was quite happy about it at the time as she aquired a much-needed housekeeper. So that shot ( while maybe not inaccurate) wasn't entirely fair. She's right that Jill does have options though, either Lizzie or Shula now Christine is with Peggy.

I'm curious to know what Jill and berts reactions will be.

redshoeblueshoe · 16/08/2015 22:54

another vote for a rather sinister feeling
exactly what I thought

Arealpiperoo - I just assumed your name was related to pip Blush

Scarydinosaurs · 16/08/2015 23:50

Oh I think they needed a more balanced discussion. David was very defeatist.

choccyp1g · 16/08/2015 23:55

Changing the subject entirely, how long before the shop moves into the Bull?

smink · 17/08/2015 00:09

Surely Ruth is thinking, HP gets Pips room. Jill gets Bert's room. The boys stay together except when pip is away when one of them gets the corner. I think Berts house is nearly done. If not he can live in Rickyard with the cowman until it is. I don't think she was suggesting Jill move out (who will look after HP?) I think she was just pointing out Jill is there even though she does not have to be but HP isn't even though she really needs to be and that is not fair.

David should suck it up. Ruth didn't think twice about letting her MIL stay.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/08/2015 07:07

choccyp1g, I wondered that too!

Icimoi · 17/08/2015 07:19

I don't see why there has to be al this box-and-coxing with rooms. Surely HP would be much better off on the ground floor and they should therefore look at using one of the cottages for her.

PseudoBadger · 17/08/2015 08:14

Do people actually say "hashtag"?!

OP posts:
NotdeadyetBOING · 17/08/2015 08:22

I am afraid they do, Pseudo. In a faux ironic way. I hear it quite a lot from people in their early 20s.

NotdeadyetBOING · 17/08/2015 08:23

I am finding this HP story line v. challenging. My ailing DF is getting ideas and very much cheering Ruth on. I do NOT like where the logic is taking him. At. All…...

R4 · 17/08/2015 08:24

Ruth didn't think twice about letting her MIL stay.

It wasn't entirely altruistic. Jill gets to do the housework that she loves and Ruth hates.
It's funny that Ruth thinks she will find time to look after HP when she never found the time to look after the house.
Considering that Ruth has spent ages doing not-a-lot apart from drinking cups of tea, she doesn't seem to have a thought-through plan. I'd like a bit more practicality and a bit less hysterics.

Northernlurker · 17/08/2015 08:34

I want David to say ' Ruth HOW are you going to look after your mum? The kids and I ate burnt fish fingers 6 nights out 7 till mum moved in!'

Gruach · 17/08/2015 08:43

David did say that didn't he? And Ruth replied that she hadn't imagined she would be the only one doing the looking after.

And anyway she's never been there as house cook. The deal was always that Ruth is a full time farmer.

Just think *Notdeadyet" - if your DF moves in you can listen to TA together every night.Grin
