Wasn't meaning to suggest that all three are the same!

Just that their expressions of grievance are all being written as if they've been walking hand in hand to the same you never really loved me destination for decades.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 13/07/2015 13:05

They are not portraying Adam as a sensible person who has thought it through and has sound arguments. They are playing him as a spoilt child who wants people to do something because be says so.

Bad sw as he does seen to be written by the person writing Kate and Kenton

ppeatfruit · 13/07/2015 13:22

Yes that's true BYOS the sws need to get him to download the information about maize and get Brine and Charlie to read it.

babyb Are you entirely sure that an everyday story of er ... country folk is where you will find greatest happiness?

Golfhotelromeofoxtrot · 13/07/2015 13:57

I feel for Adam, I think he is a million miles from Kenton and Kate. His chat with Iain was illuminating.

And Rob should have run!

ErrolTheDragon · 13/07/2015 14:18

I wonder if it might suit Rob quite well to have a public disagreement with Charlie about something like cricket - so that whatever happens next there's a record of Charlie holding a grudge against him? Or is even Rob not that devious?

Babyb - are you sure you shouldn't be watching emmerdale!!

ppeatfruit · 13/07/2015 14:38

Even more funny it used to be called Emmerdale Farm didn't it? Grin Seriously baby If you had seen Countryfile yesterday you wouldn't be flippant about the countryside.

ErrolTheDragon · 13/07/2015 14:52

I'd been thinking till recently that they'd drifted too far away from farming and country matters.

ppeatfruit · 13/07/2015 14:55

There you go Errol You've got what you wished for Grin

Golfhotelromeofoxtrot · 13/07/2015 14:57

I really like the inclusion of current farming issues.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 13/07/2015 14:59

Yes there was a big hoo har about dropping the 'farm' as it was felt they had already moved too far away from the farming side and it was feared it would just be a soap with no farming references at all. Guess they were right...

ppeatfruit · 13/07/2015 15:08

Emmerdale makes The Archers look classy Grin It even makes Corrie look classy and that's not easy Grin

Dmum watches it instead of much more interesting stuff and I can't understand it Hmm

I like the maize storyline, but I think it unrealistic that Adam would have cancelled the contract without discussing it with Brine. Brine is behaving entirely in character, Adam had a lightbulb moment after the flood. Can't believe so many people didn't recognise Usha - she is from the old school of recognisable voices as far as I am concerned. Really hoping Charlie will be gunning for Knob after the cricket spat.

ppeatfruit · 13/07/2015 15:29

Lilian I think that Brine should give Adam the farm to share with Debs. Like Hell and Tom.

stilllearnin · 13/07/2015 15:37

I don't think Knob comes across as that clever re setting up Charlie. He is pigheaded and a natural at EA...but always a gnat's whisker from being found out.

I like the farming talk because it's something I know nothing about. But I do find Adam's passion te tha maize a bit unconvincing somehow. A bit over dramatic, when he is clever and articulate enough to get his point across without getting all hammy!

Icimoi · 13/07/2015 15:45

Yes, I recognised Usha immediately, and was pleased to hear her again.

As a total townie, I find most of the agricultural stuff on TA quite interesting, especially once kind people like dairyfarmerswife have explained and added their take on here. In fact, I recently stunned dh with my knowledge of robotic milking Smile

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 13/07/2015 16:37

I'm not sure of recognise a lot of the old favourites these days!

I think part of the reason I didn't recognise her was that what she was saying didn't seem like her either - as grauch said.

ppeatfruit · 13/07/2015 17:23

I'm not sure how clever Adam is though. Ian has the emotional intelligence and wouldn't go at things like a bull in a china shop. As I said upthread if Adam printed out the facts, to show how disastrous the farming of maize is to the soil then he'd get a much better reaction.

I liked the way Usha took the piss out of Charlie actually and I recognised her too Grin

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/07/2015 17:55

I recognised her too.

minkGrundy · 13/07/2015 17:57

Adam comes across as whiny. Although there is a bit of trend of portraying people on the greener side as whiney and putting heart over business head.

I thought Rob not running was to give Adam the opportunity to say to Charlie, no you don't always support your team mate/friend if it is for the greater good not to.

ppeatfruit · 13/07/2015 18:05

Yes an interesting way to put it mink or you could say they're putting their business interests above the future of the planet which seems to be par for the course. Short termism. Money's not going to stop the rising of the oceans when the Arctic melts completely is it?
