Is Ed's wedding very soon?

OP posts:
minkGrundy · 09/05/2015 21:23

Rob was trying to break into shop because if the food ran out he might not get his all important LUNCH. He might even be forced to eat a Shock sandwich Shock

enochroot · 10/05/2015 01:12

Ah, but I like Charlie and Charlie almost got killed clearing that culvert so I don't think he would sack Ed at Rob's behest. And if David and Harrison manage to piece it together, perhaps with Adam who saw the debris in the culvert, then Ed doesn't look as though he's been indiscreet.

One flaw in the theory though..... (Crisis meeting in the SW's office)
If Charlie cleared the culvert why didn't Berrow Farm then flood?

Minimammoth · 10/05/2015 02:43

Re the blackmail material rob on Charlie. Does anyone else think that Charlie would not give a damn about who might be told.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/05/2015 08:16

Grin Mink re Rob's lunch!

Gosh, are you so worried about this that it kept you awake at night?Grin
I must admit I don't understand why Charlie would risk life and limb to save Ambridge (to coin a phrase!Wink), the upshot of which is that Berrow gets flooded. Or not, as the case may be.Confused

I told you: this way madness lies. Just smile and nod and go along with whatever preposterous things the SW say.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/05/2015 08:41

Do we even know its the same culvert? If Charlie had cleared it surely ed would have had nothing to unblock?

HapShawl · 10/05/2015 09:31

Enoch I agree/hope that Charlie wouldn't do it at rob's insistence (in fact Charlie's quite contrary so it might well push him to give ed more work! Grin ), but rob could try

I am also unclear as to which culvert Charlie nearly drowned in

Grin at mink's theory re rob's lunch

LillianGish · 10/05/2015 09:58

I agree enoch hence my culvert confusion on the previous thread. Surely Charlie would have only risked life and limb to clear a culvert which would have save Berrow Farm (or could he have been blocking the culvert???? The plot thickens!)

minkGrundy · 10/05/2015 10:28

I did speculate about that culvert confusion on previous thread.
I think we know it is same culvert because Ed mentioned the corrugated iron to signal it was the same.

Iirc Charlie decided to unblock culvert because the road was flooding. Access road to Berrow meaning tankers could not get through ?
But 1) why didn't he realise this woukd flood berrow 2) if he cleared it, why dudn't Berrow flood.

So I think we have to assume:
A)Charlie didn't know exactly where the water from the culvert would go. (But someone else clearly did (again I day who would build culvert/dairy knowing that).

B)Charlie's near drowning prevented him from sucessfully clearing the culvert. Presumably if he had the water level would have suddenly dropped and he would not have been submerged.

C) i spend too much time listening to TA and this is the most interesting plot for a while. This unlike HH plot is almost plausible (aside from the bad culvert planning).

The only thing that is odd is that Ed mentioned the debris to signal it was that same culvert but neither he nor D saud hang on isn't that the culvert C nearly drowned in. You think wuth all the culvert chat someone would have mentioned something along lines of- those culverts should have been kept clear apart from the flooding, Charlie could have drowned!

Pethsps David will mention it to Adam and A will say hang on a minute, that culvert, that's the one Charlie was in. You mean you think it was deliberately blocked David?!? But Charlie could have died! whoever did that has put my whole rs with Ian at risk

Lilymaid · 10/05/2015 10:42

Do the maps of Ambridge show Berrow Farm? Has anyone mapped Rob's movements on the night of the flood? ... Though I don't suppose the SWs have!
EA map clearly showing culverts would also help.

minkGrundy · 10/05/2015 10:45

Yes. We need maps. I see the plarchers have oneGrin some excellent twwets from them this morning at synthetic ambridge.

enochroot · 10/05/2015 11:17

Election night played merry hell with my sleep pattern!

ZeroFunDame · 10/05/2015 11:37

You know you're all working yourselves up to another supercilious aside from the esteemed editor about how the listeners extrapolate all sorts of (undreamt by him) meanings and motivations from perfectly run of the mill conversations ...?

Followed by a hasty re-writeGrin.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/05/2015 11:40

Culvert

Something most people won't have heard yet is relevant in this setting. Must be used at least twice an episode to make is sound clever

ZeroFunDame · 10/05/2015 11:43

What?Confused

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/05/2015 11:50

That's how I see the word. They use it over and over. Tbh I know what one is but didn't know what it was called!!

Has there been an episode with no mention of the culvert. It's almost a character in its own right and I'm fully expecting it to have a name by next week and for Toby to dump pip for it.

cakebydelia · 10/05/2015 12:15

What on earth do the Grundy seniors think they're doing trying to persuade Ed to ask Will to be best man? He is marrying his brother's former wife, the one he had an affair with while she was still married to his brother. They were going to run off to France with his brother's son. Fer chrissake.

If I was Will, even if I was happily married to the lovely Nic, I would be civil to my 'D'B and ex-wife for the sake of George, but that is all.

ZeroFunDame · 10/05/2015 12:22

Will is happily married to the lovely Nic and still can't be civil.

You're right - it's nonsense.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/05/2015 12:27

But don't you see - will is going to reluctantly agree, they'll have a heart to heart on the way to the church and then all will be forgiven and they'll be best buddies again

This leaves an opening for feuding siblings fighting over a woman - roll up Rex and Toby.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/05/2015 12:34

But seriously, i thought the Grundy boys never go on. So even without the cheating on your brothers wife it would have even unlikely they would have been each others best man

BitOutOfPractice · 10/05/2015 12:45

I am so confused about the culvert now - more preciseley in whose interests it would have been to block or clear it.

I have Culvertigo

ZeroFunDame · 10/05/2015 13:09

Oh, a BOOP for that BitOutGrin.

A reconciliation between the Grundy brothers is - the world's least likely thing.

And besides - I want variety in brotherly relations.

BitOutOfPractice · 10/05/2015 13:17

Sriously I don't know if it beingblocked was good or bad for Berrow Farm. Who sould or shouldn't have cleared it.

I'm just hoping it gets Knob into trouble

HapShawl · 10/05/2015 13:19

But of course there were all the dried up springs and the sinkhole-that-wasn't. So Rob has clearly been culvert-fiddling for a good while

ZeroFunDame · 10/05/2015 13:24

The sinkhole!

Have they forgotten it?
