Yes I do agree that Jess isn't really a "together" kind of gal which is why the way she's acting now is better than turning up randomly on Helen's doorstep, phoning him endlessly etc.

I don't see Jess as 'deranged' (careful you're not buying Rob's version!). I think she's someone who was in an EA relationship, eventually saw it for what it was (perhaps the time apart from Rob clarified things), tried to make one last go of it in Ambridge, was met with the same-old, then the worm turned and she decided not to play Rob's games any more but give as good as she got. Not sure why she'd have slept with him after she'd left - the valentine's day meeting I think we have two unreliable narrators - but now she's back in control of her own life and enjoying it.

Liked the CA fore and aft of the lunchtime repeat today.

Not sure... assuming that Rob is the father of her child, what would we be expecting her to do differently? (given that he's Rob and she knows he wouldn't behave amicably now she's turned to the dark side into an independent woman.

She told Helen he's 'bloody irresistible' so I do think it is his baby. All the business of Helen having no income any more is to give him cause to become critical of how she's spending 'his' money, no doubt on 'her' son.

it's also worth bearing in mind that Jess seems to be on good terms with Knob's parents. It seems odd that they haven't apparently been in touch, unless they have been contacting him and he is just keeping very quiet about it.

Oh yes, I'd forgotten the 'irresistable' thing (easy to do when all we have is a voice saying nasty things). So Jess just had a night of lust with her ex. Foolish but not deranged.

He did not deny sleeping with her.
He did accuse her of shagging around - classic EA.
He stonewall denied it's his - classuc EA.
She said he used to be anle to convince her black was white - classic EA survivor.

She is quite rihht to claim CM. (Exactly the advice she'd get on MN.) CM and access are separate.

And she is just relishing the fact that for once he can't make the baby not his by saying it over and over. It is a verifiable fact. Can't blame her after years of being told black is white and forced to back down by browbeating.

My problem isn't the facts surrounding Jess but her delivery makes her sound deranged to me! So I find it hard to sympathise with her! It is bad acting IMO
