Rejoice, for the Dopeys are staying in Ambridge to feast on Oedipal flapjacks. Or at least David is. Discuss The Archers here.

Will Peggy make it to the end of this thread?

OP posts:
TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 02/03/2015 11:37

(they both fancied her, unlikely as it seems now)

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 02/03/2015 12:38

Surely Carol has to be a superannuated Willow? Although Kate would enjoy it.

Lilymaid · 02/03/2015 12:41

I'm so old I can recall a steamy scene involving Lillian and her first husband (think it occurred in her bedroom in the Bull)

IrianofWay · 02/03/2015 12:55

Ooh that storm! Pathetic fallacy to match anything the Brontes could come up with.

Ruth is being petulant and hypocritical
David is being irritating and whiny.

Icimoi · 02/03/2015 13:21

Perhaps the water is going to destroy the milking parlour, so they get a fat insurance payout that they can put towards a fancy new robotic parlour.

squeaver · 02/03/2015 15:19

So the options for Casualty-style incident are:

Ruth & Ben in a motorway pile-up
Ruth & Ben choking on Ginsters as they shelter in a service station on the M6
David slipping in the flooded parlour and having a concussion which causes him to forget that he's stopped the sale.
The whole parlour collapsing into the sink hole taking Pip and/or David with it.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 02/03/2015 15:48

What about:

  • Sink hole opening up in the road and swallowing Ruth & Ben/Jill and Freda whole
LillianGish · 02/03/2015 16:24

Yes - don't forget Jill's lift home with Freda and her unresolved (but now unmentioned indigestion).

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 02/03/2015 16:25

Or:

Sinkhole opens up on Lakey Hill, all the land for about five miles around slips into the hole and every single person in Ambridge and Lower Loxley SOTMC, including Ruth and Ben who were still on the road near Ambridge.

SOC could then start again with an entirely new cast of luvvies fully trained actors, building a village by the side of the new lake.

TopazRocks · 02/03/2015 16:36

At risk of sounding vv pedantic, it was pie not casserole Jill kept dashing into the bungalow with. Well, I am as sure as I can be .....

And I always thought the shower scene with Sid and Jolene was at the gym. Esp. as Kathy (remember her?!) was unaware of the affair and was at that time THE Mrs Perks.

I've never heard 'a load of old toot' before, but am so taken with it I've written it down and have a plan to look it up later/ask DH if he's heard it before. Grin

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 02/03/2015 16:42

Load of old toot defined. I may have given the impression that it's a euphemism for hanky panky, but it isn't.

LaundryFairy · 02/03/2015 16:47

Ruth: "But we agreed we would be moving"
David: "Over my dead body"
Pip: "There's water coming up in the pit"
David: "Be right there"
Pip: shoves father into water-and-electricity-filled pit
David:SOTMC
Ruth and Pip [together]: "Job done!"

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 02/03/2015 19:10

GypsyFloss · 02/03/2015 19:10
