Rejoice, for the Dopeys are staying in Ambridge to feast on Oedipal flapjacks. Or at least David is. Discuss The Archers here.

Will Peggy make it to the end of this thread?

OP posts:

Ah! Of course! It's easy to over-look Alastair.
Seeing it from the boat might leave him with a different opinion though.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/03/2015 10:59

I'm sure that Ruth's car always contains wellies. It doesn't take that much depth of water to prevent a normal car driving through (it was obviously OK for 4wd as Brian fetched Bert) and lane verges are usually higher than the road surface. That's perfectly plausible.

R4 · 09/03/2015 11:27

We haven't heard from Alistair in aaages. There must be a reason that he is back on the payroll - soggy animals or relationships? Please let there not be painfully "humourous" goings on and misunderstandings at The Stables due to the overcrowded squeezing together of a household of grouches.Hmm

enochroot · 09/03/2015 11:28

Has Ruth's return, all sweetness and light, been made so in order to contrast with Kenton's return?

And.....if David's being interviewed on national TV is there a chance that Kenton might find out via the media that Brookfield remains Archer forever more?

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 09/03/2015 11:46

In terms of damage and country lanes etc This is near me from 2014

mummytime · 09/03/2015 12:15

Well having just received an Ambridge map today. I assume Ruth drove in either past Bridge Farm or Sawyer's farm, at some point there must be a hollow for water to collect, so rather than drive through it, she parked, and she and Ben clambered past (I've done this in Suffolk, clambering along hedgerows).
Mostly it seems that the Am burst its banks and so became wider. I am concerned about Heydon Brook.
I am also concerned that maybe something has happened at the electricity substation.

songbird · 09/03/2015 13:25

Another Buffy lover here. Mimsy I'm pretty sure it's on Netflix (it certainly was as started to re-watch it again), so if you have that it will be much cheaper than buying box sets! In fact, signing up to Netflix just for Buffy will probably be cheaper than buying box sets! Grin

I can and can't believe Ruth is all-forgiving (so it seems anyway). Of course, we don't know how HeatherPet reacted to the news.

As we haven't heard from Auntie Cardboard in ages I kept thinking she was Carol Toboggan! I too immediately thought that having all the Knob witnesses under one roof can only be good!

squeaver · 09/03/2015 14:26

WHERE IS PEGGY???!!

(I would just like it noted that I think Peggy is a borderline narcissistic, blue-permed PITA but it's just so ODD that no one has mentioned her)

AnyoneforTurps · 09/03/2015 14:49

To those crying "unrealistic":

We were flooded in 2007. It happened very fast - one minute, there was no water in sight, the next, a huge bolus of water came down a nearby stream and we were 3ft deep. It came through the walls as well as under the doors. Mobiles didn't work - I don't know whether this was because the masts were affected or just that the network was overloaded. We couldn't try the landline because our landline phone is electric and using it when the the wiring was underwater seemed unwise.

Freda's mumbling OTOH was ludicrous. My first thought was that she was deaded and had become a zombie.

trevortrevorslattery · 09/03/2015 14:57

Carol Toboggan Grin

Nothing further to add at present. I hope they catch up to today this evening.

MyFeatheryHat · 09/03/2015 15:17

Perhaps they don't need to catch up as, to my knowledge, there was no mention of the date of the flood, and it didn't coincide with any specific event. So last weeks episodes could theoretically be from last Saturday (7th) onwards, with Mother's Day this coming Sunday IYSWIM?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 09/03/2015 15:26

sqeaver, MyFeatheryHat, I think your theory is right. They were in the future last week, banking on no mega-news story happening that would have to lead to a topical insert.

Abraid2 · 09/03/2015 15:33

Freda's mumbling OTOH was ludicrous. My first thought was that she was deaded and had become a zombie.

I wondered about The Walking Dead colliding with TA and then, when David opened the church doors, he'd be met with scores of Walkers.

toldmywrath · 09/03/2015 16:05

Haha at the mini bicker breakout between R4, oddfodd & Jessie re the whereabouts of Ben.
Aunty Cardboard-yeah I thought she was Carol Toboggan as well songbird
I broke the rule of Told by listening to Sunday evenings episode on the repeat.

ppeatfruit · 09/03/2015 16:17

Blimey thanks for the link Olivia I had no idea the flooding was so bad up that way, there are some idiotic van drivers about Grin

Littleturkish · 09/03/2015 16:29

Well, the film this week was good, wasn't it!!

The flood the flood!

Did anyone else pick up on Tom and Pip super duo oh look they've fallen in love vibe? I predict that happening next. I flicked through pp but couldn't see anything about it?

ErrolTheDragon · 09/03/2015 16:35

Tom is surely quite a lot older than Pip (hopefully the vile Jude put her off older blokes) apart from which they're (non-first) cousins. I think that was just relatives who are in the same line of business familiarity.

AnyoneforTurps · 09/03/2015 16:39

Tom is 34, Pip is 22 (though sounds alternately 6 or 45). I would hope to god imagine that she thinks of him more as a big brother than a luurve interest. I really couldn't take a shower scene.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 09/03/2015 16:42

Tony is David's first cousin so they're not closely related. I could see it happening. It would complicate the succession very nicely!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 09/03/2015 16:42

By 'They' I of course mean Pip and Tom. Sigh.

ppeatfruit · 09/03/2015 16:44

Blimey you lot a person can't talk to another without one of you predicting sheenanigans of the DTD type fgs!!!! Grin

AnyoneforTurps · 09/03/2015 16:46

I wondered about The Walking Dead colliding with TA and then, when David opened the church doors, he'd be met with scores of Walkers.

If the flood got the venison: Fawn of the Dead
If the flood got the arable land: Corn of the Dead
The flood did get Bert's garden: Lawn of the Dead
If the flood had caught Elizabeth & Roy in flagrante: Porn of the Dead
The sheep were deaded: Shorn of the Dead
If the flood got David's sacred hedge: Thorn of the Dead
What will Ruth's reaction be? Yawn of the Dead.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/03/2015 16:52

If the flood had washed away the hunt - Horn of the dead.

Abraid2 · 09/03/2015 16:55

Turps!

Minimammoth · 09/03/2015 17:16

Grin turps. I don't mind time span changes, sometimes lots happens that needs putting into more than one episode.
I do hope scruff turns up soon.
