Will Peggy make it to the end of this thread?

I know we're not quite there yet but something along the lines of après le God delug-ion of SOC join us in a post soaked to the core Ambridge...

Or is that too many puns...

SOC being on feedback after this feels so manipulative. The fact he's waited until after the flood makes me suspect they knew he'd get pilloried on any normal week so they've kept him away until now.

ZeroFunDame · 08/03/2015 17:28

SOC Has Soaked Ambridge To The Core, How Will We Like It After The Watershed?

(Was searching for some clever "nautical village" type of thing - but too distracted by a rare and glorious afternoon of Buffy.)

toldmywrath · 08/03/2015 17:43

Time to pull the plug then Nauticant?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 08/03/2015 17:54

I was younger and supercilious when Buffy was being broadcast. I never watched it. I think now this was the wrong decision. Sad

My daughter (nearly 23, now on earth did that happen?) would have loved it. Should I get a boxed set?

nauticant · 08/03/2015 18:10

Thanks for your very kind words!

They were kind enough to make me re-think and so I might tune in to TA again in the Autumn. Perhaps the baleful influence of SOC (as well as the flood waters) will have receded by then.

I might pop in from time to time. After all, these are splendidly witty threads.

Ta-rah till then!

ZeroFunDame · 08/03/2015 18:13

Mimsy - Yes!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 08/03/2015 19:15

Pip doing her Kevin the teenager voice!

How is Shulas house liveable if they were sheltering in the hayloft?

How naff was the archers reunion scene? All is forgiven already. So the whole road SL was a waste of a year.

minkGrundy · 08/03/2015 19:19

Reunion naff but predictable that Ruth would just be glad to see them all.

They still have to resolve the road SL. Cos that is not happening either.

Yy to moany voice Pip.

Has anyone mentioned Peggoi yet? How will she get to the hairdresser?

PseudoBadger · 08/03/2015 19:21

Oh ffs just noticed my useless autocorrect in my earlier post Blush

So when David does his big piece for the papers is he going to use it to announce to the village that they're not leaving? If not he might have some pissed off villagers , like Linda, wondering how he's got the balls to be the village mouthpiece.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 08/03/2015 19:42

@toldmywrath

I listened to the omnibus & really enjoyed it. However, having caught up with the thread I must say how dismayed I am at Oliviamumsnet's avowed statement that she isn't worried about poor Scruff. I bet she wasn't even pleased that the gerbil & Lucky the turkey were safe & sound hmmph.

ROFL
I think it's because i like the others was listening in stages, I listened to some of the omnibus earlier and it did feel a lot better. May even listen again again (!)

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 08/03/2015 19:57

I think they were in the hayloft because Christine had gone off her rocker and gone back into the stables to try to save the tack. Shula and Alistair went back to find her and they all got cut off by the rising waters.

Welshwabbit · 08/03/2015 20:03

Mimsy, Buffy is my favourite ever TV series. Definitely get the box set. I am so jealous of people who still have to watch it for the first time.

Am reserving judgment on the flood until I've heard tonight's episode.

minkGrundy · 08/03/2015 20:34

Serenity is better than Buffy. Its like Buffy in space

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 08/03/2015 21:01

I'm having a vision now of stacks and stack of boxed sets all the way to the horizon! Thanks all, will put all of this on the birthday list.

TheMShip · 08/03/2015 21:23

Firefly. Serenity was the movie. Grin Funny you mention it, I've just started re-watching the box set and it's just as wonderful as the last three times.

ragged · 08/03/2015 21:30

So Route B is going to be ruled out because of the floods, right? Has one of you actually got up the map of Route B & the Borsetshire floods to confirm that?

LillianGish · 08/03/2015 21:57

Like your new title suggestion Zero. I was wondering if we could also work in Ambridge too far. Come back nauticant - at least stay here even if you stop listening.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/03/2015 22:45

I got firefly box set for dd for her birthday last year but we've still not watched it - maybe when we've finished ds9.

Anyway nice of Shula to invite Christine and Jim to stay - I hope jazzer blithely assumes the invitation extends to him.

minkGrundy · 08/03/2015 22:56

Firefly is ace. Only mentioned Serenity (rather than FF) cos it has been on twice this week.

minkGrundy · 09/03/2015 00:42

Ah Jazzer at Smugula's that would be a good listen.

ZeroFunDame · 09/03/2015 01:02

I wanted to write "best TV ever" before - not sure anything else has been so consistently all-round brilliant as Buffy. Though DS9 had its moments.

The Sap Is Rising In The Village: Will Everyone Be Twisting Themselves Into New Positions Post-Watershed, Or Is All The Emoting Just Ambridge Too Far? Grin

GypsyFloss · 09/03/2015 06:09

Yes what about Jazzer? And why was Christine accepting the invitation on behalf of both of them? Are they are an official couple? They don't share a home so maybe Jim might have an opinion on living back with his DIL?

Iwantacampervan · 09/03/2015 07:01

I thought that Ruth would come back and have a go at David for leaving Pip on her own. David would have replied with something like - the village needed me, Ruth would then flounce back north eternally cursing the village/family etc.

JessieMcJessie · 09/03/2015 07:35

Gypsy it was Jim who cajoled Christine into saying yes to the invitation. He seems to get on OK with Shula these days, witness the bit of banter in the church when serving the soup.
