It's all getting rather delicious. I feel sorry for Kenton the fool

It may be cliched Olivia but here in Fr. a repainted (shabby chic) chest of drawers will set you back almost 1000 euros (I'm not kidding!). I'm not sure how many people actually pay that though Grin

nauticant · 21/02/2015 14:46

It's interesting how different listeners hear their own versions of TA. Like BuildYourOwnSnowman (a reliable poster who is invariably right), I have no doubt at all that David is Jill's favourite. By a country mile.

PetulaGordino · 21/02/2015 14:50

the shabby chic stuff looks like a decent piece of furniture ruined to me

enochroot · 21/02/2015 14:57

Yes, Hell's shop is earmarked for Fallon but it looks like my idea for Hayley to become the ideal TA at the primary school (so Vicky thinks it's worthwhile staying in Ambridge) has gone out of the window.

We could all be confounded now by the SWs habitual vagueness -
David will escape much in the way of financial penalties & the sibs will all decide that Brookfield is worth more to them than filthy lucre. Grin

Talking of vagueness, wasn't Brian on his uppers a few weeks ago and having to sell off tied cottages? What happened to that?

ppeatfruit · 21/02/2015 15:12

Yes but could it be circumstantial nauticant? because David inherited Brookfield and has farmed it properly, until the sale. Kenton was always moaned about by Phil who ,it seems, has strongly influenced Jill to behave in the same way.

I would also have thought that Lizzie seems unable to do wrong in her eyes due to her health and being the 'baby' I suppose.

But on the whole she doesn't seem to have been a bad mum.

nauticant · 21/02/2015 15:43

Oh, I'm quite happy for others to see it differently in their own version of TA ppeatfruit. I don't mind if I've got this completely wrong.

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/02/2015 15:47

I agree that Dopey Dave is Jill's favourite (and mine too!) but Lizzard is the baby and has a delicate heart and therefore Must Not Be Upset As It Could Prove Fatal. If she is thwarted she threatens to scream and scream until she is sick and no one has ever stood up to her for fear of her keeling over.

Similarly, Hellin is sensitive and liable to go off her food if thwarted, so Pol Pat and Moany always leap to do her bidding.

Hakluyt · 21/02/2015 16:02

< wonders whether to out self as a reasonably successful seller of up cycled tat objets. Decides not to>

ppeatfruit · 21/02/2015 16:05

Why not Hakluyt ? Good for you! I for one LOVE those objects and feel they shouldn't be a 'fashion' !!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 21/02/2015 16:08

Lizzie is spoilt but I don't think that means she's the favourite.

I know I can't blame soc for the Roy/liz affair. I still hate that they did it. It makes no sense for Hayley to stay in ambridge and I think it is a shame to lose her

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 21/02/2015 16:11

I like upcycled stuff to a degree but its fallons approach that gets in my nerves!

As an upcycler, how do you see fallon hakluyt?

PetulaGordino · 21/02/2015 16:16

is it a realistic portrayal of someone starting an upcycling business hakluyt?

PetulaGordino · 21/02/2015 16:18

i'm still annoyed about fallon being (un)married off to pc burns. i know other people like the relationship, but i feel like she was pressurised into going out with him by him and everyone around her, when she had just got out of a relationship that wasn't working, and we could have had a woman enjoying being single

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 21/02/2015 16:21

Yes, this
TopazRocks · 21/02/2015 17:13

Having a total blank here. Who was Fallon in a relationship with before she began stepping out with PC Plot?

What I think about 'upcycling' is that the word is overused a bit and esp. in TA. It is not a new concept, just a new word. Re-using and renovating old items was something people did generations ago. It was called 'make do and mend' and such. Only now has it become a 'thing'. In itself it's a not a bad way to spend time and get some money in. Just don't talk to me about it, Fallon. Grin

PetulaGordino · 21/02/2015 17:23

?rhys - erstwhile barman (i think??) who went back to ?wales

you can see i have retained the key details Grin

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 21/02/2015 17:30

And thanks nauticant! We obviously listen in the same way as I mostly agree with you too!

ZeroFunDame · 21/02/2015 17:34

Topaz He had a name but was so totally without character.. Oh yes - Rhys! He collected the empty glasses at The Bull.

(Before that she was pining over Ed who ditched her for an Oscar nominee.)

I am very Envy at BYOS's lately acquired reputation for rightness. How do I emulate this?

It's true about Kenton - Jill cannot stand him. She has only once said anything nice about him - and that was secondhand from Phil and very faint praise indeed about having traveled the world.

ZeroFunDame · 21/02/2015 17:45

Long before that she pined over Ed. There was Harry in between and probably a couple of others ...

This "rightness" thing is going to be a hard slog ...

CuttedUpPear · 21/02/2015 17:46

This is an epic run of posting for you Olivia!
Peace and Love giving you a bit of a break now and again are they? Smile

PetulaGordino · 21/02/2015 17:48

she is POISED over the big red button this evening i can tell you. i was very impressed

CuttedUpPear · 21/02/2015 17:51

Rhys seemed a top fella but caught The Gay (recurring, it would appear) whilst mid way through a road trip to Edinburgh.

CuttedUpPear · 21/02/2015 17:52

I like the way Olivia posts here with her big MN box thing. Like an intervention. But a benign, chatty one.

PetulaGordino · 21/02/2015 17:55

indeed but i sometimes wonder whether she is Showing Off Her Power Shock Wink. we aren't allowed quoty boxes (and thank goodness for that - have you seen those forums where people quote within quote within quote? unintelligible isn't the word)

CuttedUpPear · 21/02/2015 18:00

Yes Petula. Those boxes are what makes NetHuns What It Is.
