It's all getting rather delicious. I feel sorry for Kenton the fool

OP posts:
PetulaGordino · 20/02/2015 18:26

Mollie do you think tonight's episode will feature 13 minutes of wailing and drumming of feet? Grin

PetulaGordino · 20/02/2015 18:28

Can you imagine if it had been bought for henry and he had had it taken off him? He would have cursed the toy farm and all who played with it

Bluestocking · 20/02/2015 18:32

No, Petula, we're going to be allowed into Jill's lair this evening. It's like the Batcave. The Old Bat Cave? It's full of prototype robotic talking farm animals, programmed for any family emergency, and an industrial kitchen full of illegal immigrants churning out flapjacks, Victoria sponges, and vats of stew. Jill sits in the centre watching all proceedings in Ambridge on a series of screens picking up feeds from mini-cameras installed in the collars of all the pets in the village, and stroking the big glass jar where Phil's brain floats in Grundy cider.

PetulaGordino · 20/02/2015 18:41

OMG do you think Jill = SO'C ??

GophersSitOnSofas · 20/02/2015 18:43

I hopenyundomt mind me butting in, but I don't know anyone else that would know the answer- why can't Ruth's mum move down to Brookfield? Thank you oh wise ones, it's been bugging me,I feel I must have missed something

GophersSitOnSofas · 20/02/2015 18:43
  • Hope you don't mind
PetulaGordino · 20/02/2015 18:44

She refused to gopher - didn't want to leave her home

Halsall · 20/02/2015 18:50

Has anyone seen 'This is Jinsy'? I imagine Jill's lair as being rather like that.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 20/02/2015 18:53

She didn't want to leave her home but seems perfectly happy to see five people move for her (rather weak plot device)

GophersSitOnSofas · 20/02/2015 18:53

Thanks Petula. But she doesn't mind if the hordes of Ambridge have to leave theirs?

GypsyFloss · 20/02/2015 19:01

But she doesn't want them to move to her either. It's all Ruth's doing.

TopazRocks · 20/02/2015 19:05

Well, David was tired yesterday - after a night trailing round Ambridge looking for a toy farm he'll be on his knees. And poor Jill the octogenarian too. Grin

GypsyFloss · 20/02/2015 19:06

So Janet/ Janice was voiced by Emmur/ Hayley/ Pip? Judging by the wandering accent my money is on the last one.

R4 · 20/02/2015 19:08

Are we still in Thursday?

Travelledtheworld · 20/02/2015 19:08

Just wanted you all to know I have a toy farm dating back to the 1930's. It was my fathers. Some of the figures and animals are made of lead. No way would it end up at a jumble sale.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 20/02/2015 19:08

Um that was a completely weird scene. The newcomer was supposed to represent the listeners irritation? Why not just ask Hilary noakes in the first place? And the excitement at finding it just shows they are a little mentally unbalanced at the moment. And sounds like Jill wrote and aged a label for the present to tug on the heart strings!

Nice to hear Hayley trying to get away from gossipy Susan!!

Bluestocking · 20/02/2015 19:10

Jill hears Phil talking all the time. She's got his brain wired up to a speaker.

PigletJohn · 20/02/2015 19:11

Shula is a busybody churchgoer. She gave something up for Lent. Which of these do you recognise:

"Thou shalt not eat biscuits"
"Thou shalt not bear false witness" ?

And which did she obey?

nauticant · 20/02/2015 19:15

Compare and contrast the good Hayley scene with the silly Brookfield U-turn scene.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 20/02/2015 19:15

Does David's brain move so slowly that its taken him this long to realise? And his whole chat with Jill was totally unnecessary because we all know it because that is his character. It's like the sw has been told to make it obvious because soc doesn't know the characters well at all.

GypsyFloss · 20/02/2015 19:16

Hurrah. About bloody time.

nauticant · 20/02/2015 19:18

Something tells me that the gratitude Sean O'Connor might be expecting from the die-hard fans will be far more scarce than he would expect.

GypsyFloss · 20/02/2015 19:20

Indeed nauticant?? . He hasn't got a clue about his listeners.

CuttedUpPear · 20/02/2015 19:37

Have I missed something, or is David being an absolute twunt by deciding for Ruth and their kids without even consulting them first?

Sorry but this kind of behaviour touches a sore point with me - especially when paired with maternal input/influence!

OneWaySystemBlues · 20/02/2015 19:45

MollieCoddler yes I think it was a recording of an old episode - I think it was the one where Phil explained to the family why he was leaving the Brookfield to David and Ruth, rather than sharing it out equally between all of the children - I'm old enough to remember listening to that, which is scary!

It was a bit weird for The Archers, but I quite liked it I think.
