The commissioning ed basically gave a great big 'fuck off, me and my buddy gwyn think its fine'. Reinforces my impression that the bbc is an old boys club of sorts.

Couldn't work out which one CUP was - though did note they all sounded very posh!

Yes maybe there will have been a denouement at Brookfield and SOC will say "ha you see, it all worked out, it was a means to an end!" And listeners will be all "but the means have to actually make sense!"

Perhaps best not to guess voices if CUP would rather keep her RL and MN persona separate?

My money was on #2 on the grounds that she sounded youngest. All v. sensible points and nobody making a twat of herself!

It is always a damp squib (not the contributors though, they were great )

I can't remember which number I was but they cut most of me out so my contribution was quite short, but it was about Matt. Sadly my reference to my 17yo DS being a life long and interested listener was left on the cutting room floor, leaving the demographic sounding female and middle aged.

To my ears I sounded like the petulant one!

Terrible confession…. Had R4 on on my iPhone and had little lie sit down with a cuppa and before I knew it I had nodded off! Woke up in the middle of the scene with Shula/Knob/sab and heard 2 callers after that, but probably missed CUP. ARGH. Will need to listen again on iplayer.

I really hope CUP was the one who said "I have many friends who are Archers listeners and they are tearing their hair out." :)

This happens to me every night with TA - can someone please tell me what is going on with Ed's herd - (I've heard the convo with Oliver re beef cattle) but I'm sure the last I heard Eddie had persuaded him to sell 4-5 cows.
(how many does he have??)
How did this get to be the whole herd? He keeps going on about paperwork - though Ruth was helping with that though obvs her attn is elsewhere.

And what about Moike and Vikkoi?? they are dancing in the ridiculous vintage (isn't EVERYTHING) v'day chin up at the bull - but surely Mike would have had Roy up by his bootstraps living off ginsters pasties??

Well I listened carefully and I think you sounded grand CUP about Matt (a very nice voice ). BUT, WHERE WAS SOC??? He promised he'd be on in FEB. WHAT A FEEBLE COWARDLY LITTLE WAXXKER .

Oh Olivia it's going to be good at the Bull tomorrow, I wish I were going ! (i 'm not being sarky).

Ed had to sell a handful of cattle to settle immediate debts (mostly rent for last qtr). He then realised that the whole enterprise wasn't feasible any more and made the grown-up decision (big BOOP for Ed) to close it down in an orderly fashion instead of waiting for the inevitable. Hence selling the whole herd, which gives him start-up capital for something else (contracting and/or beef).

Part of Ed's decision was related to Mike not being able to find buyer for his side of the milk business, wasn't it?

Oh, just remembered something from earlier - was there something about Helen using Ed's milk for her cheeses and that she'd have to find a new supplier? Bet that will have Rob trying to stick his oar in there somehow...

Mike processes and bottles ed's milk, but he is struggling to sell that part of the business combined with the milk round. So he might have to sell them separately which means ed might have no one to take his milk and I doubt it would be viable for him to hook up with a big dairy company?
