This is too much for me now. I need to meditate.

OP posts:

How come the Archers' old toy farm never emerged from the attic for Pip et al to play with?

Yes. And why was David so rude to Jill about the box - was it to signify that, deep down and subconsciously, he is unhappy about leaving the ancestral pile?

tbf to Ed and his money troubles, Em organised the rental without consulting him. How much money is she bringing in?

R4 · 20/01/2015 12:49

Ah, petula is faster at typing than me.Smile

PetulaGordino · 20/01/2015 12:55

Ha we said exactly the same thing!

How did Jill decide how to split the toys? I foresee a strop from lizzie...

dairyfarmerswife · 20/01/2015 16:55

Funny how the Dopeys have just realised they can't move a milking herd to a farm with no parlour, isn't it? And lucky Heatherpet is so understanding... the SW are reading this, aren't they. What can we get them to write next?

LillianGish · 20/01/2015 17:03

How long is it since Heatherpet injured herself (can't remember did she break her wrist or something)? It's so long ago she must be well on the road to recovery and have managed quite well on her own thank you very much. Can anyone remember a more poorly executed, less convincing storyline than this one? I'm trying to think of one - suggestions please.

enochroot · 20/01/2015 17:06

I know Emma took him by surprise but he had already put off the rent from the previous quarter and really should have said something about it to her. Even now he didn't want to tell her.

I thought Jill was sounding more and more hysterical/cynical last night, as though she was buttoning her lip on 'Don't be daft. You know this is all pie in the sky because the sale is never going to happen but you've turned everyone's lives upside down anyway. Get a grip, you fools.'

FatherHenderson · 20/01/2015 17:33

I'm afraid I have flounced. Not off Mumsnet, but I turned the radio off when Ed was talking to Eddie about his business going down the pan.

That is the first time in ten years of listening that I finally thought, "that's it. I've had enough" and switched off half way through.

I listen to the Archers for entertainment, but I have no desire to listen to this character being tortured again.

And I'm so bored of the Brookfield nonsense. Just bugger off, or stay. It is no longer dramatic . It is just boring.

So, my take on it, so it's either boring or depressing. That takes some doing.

Will still lurk about here though, as the posters are far more entertaining than what's going on a 7.03pm

This blog is good fun and says what most of us are thinking.

Great blog.

CuttedUpPear · 20/01/2015 18:02

Love that bog Mimsy.

A few quotes which I wholeheartedly agree with:

Carol’s absurd ubiquity and tedious herbal witchery – I bow to no-one in my love of Carol (see here for my earlier love letter), but like a Yankee soldier in London during the Blitz, she is overpaid, oversexed and over here. Except not oversexed and probably not overpaid. But she is overused and overprescribing of camomile tea

And

In the past, if Pat so much as broke a fingernail, Kathy would be round straight away to sympathise, have a little whinge about her own travails, and eat up Tony’s portion of the supper that was being kept warm in the oven. Kathy and Pat are bezzie mates, aren’t they? BFFs. So FFS, where IS she? This has been the worst ever crisis in Pat’s life.

NB: The above ^^ also applies to Usha, Rooth's supposed BFF.

EBearhug · 20/01/2015 18:41

Yes, I was wondering about Kathy yesterday. It's one thing them not having a currently speaking part, but the fact that Kathy, Usha and so on just aren't mentioned at all, it's not normal. Haven't heard much from Jazzer lately, either, but I think he has at least been mentioned in passing.

The fact you can go a while without hearing from characters is why I don't think it's necessary to write them all out. They could just go silent and not have an active storyline for a while.

mummytime · 20/01/2015 18:46

I'm sorry but Ed being given notice to quit was an obvious consequence of what has gone before. Damara Capital wasn't going to let him just keep using the land, especially if he was late paying the rent - its just not that kind of outfit. In fact even if he'd been totally up to date with his payments I'd have expected them to be trying to get him out. Now if someone else has some spare land...

BringYourOwnSnowman · 20/01/2015 19:08

Kate is so dim and self absorbed she can't even be bothered to ask how her daughter is. Phoebe needs to go home to her dad

Selks · 20/01/2015 19:11

Oh god PLEASE can poor Ed have a break soon, I can't bear the constant whipping he gets on the programme.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 20/01/2015 19:11

And I know you all love ed but he is no good at business and is too proud. He would have done better to get Emma help him manage it all. Or his dad. He is a bit ostrich.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 20/01/2015 19:15

Poor phoebe. Please don't let he go into academic decline off the back of bullying. We need a strong intelligent woman!!!

And Kate making an idiot of herself and displaying it to her teenage daughter. I'm cringing on her behalf!!

Big BOOP for Kate - entirely in character. Poor Phoebe.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 20/01/2015 19:32

I wonder if Kate is being strictly vegan on her night out

And do you think she will shag her favourite lecturer

jennyperru · 20/01/2015 19:58

"Ed is no good at business and is too proud" well yes BYOS, that's true but it also describes old-Tom as well. Why should poor old Ed be forever damned because Tom has a cash cow called Peggy and Ed just has a lonely cow called... Lonely? Doesn't seem fair to me.

PhaedraIsMyName · 20/01/2015 20:08

How does Ed's business even work? Where does he milk the herd and how and to whom is it sold ?

And where does he overwinter them?

The Dopeys only just waking up to fact there is no dairy at the new farm is hilarious.
