A big showdown tonight I hope.

Thanks to Zero (I think?) for the great title.

Is that a new Bert?

Sorry if it's been covered already. I'm on my phone and I can't be arsed to go back Grin

ppeatfruit · 05/10/2014 17:47

Bore dh's uncles are both in their 90s and literally 'waiting to die' they have been like that for many years Sad

GypsyFloss · 05/10/2014 17:51

Oh no , did Chadam actually do it? I didn't hear that , I assumed Kenton meant that Charlie was happy that he was reeling in seducing Adam. I'm not sure I can tell my mum that! Although in fairness she is very liberal and of farming stock herself so she might not be at all fazed by the thought of Chadam's harvest moon on show Grin

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 05/10/2014 18:31

We don't know, Gypsy, we're just guessing because Charlie was in The Bull later and said to be very cheerful. Maybe we're all wrong!

Yes, Ruth is an only child.

No, it's not a new Bert, I'm pretty sure about that although have been wrong in the past, so who knows. I like Bert and am delighted to hear him back. I'm equally delighted not to be hearing Pip. Long may that last.

RocknRollNerd · 05/10/2014 18:47

Oh oh - surely the answer is to move Heather into Glebe.... causing eviction of Carol and discovery of the Great Garden Makeover Horror!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 05/10/2014 18:49

Yes, but Heather sensibly refused to move inside the forcefield, RocknRollNerd!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 05/10/2014 19:08

David actually considering moving?Hmm

GypsyFloss · 05/10/2014 19:11

Oh come on Hayley. Give it to him all guns blazing please.

Cooroo · 05/10/2014 19:11

No. He wouldn't. She hasn't made a good case at all.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 05/10/2014 19:13

Really? Really? This is totally implausible.

CarolineKnappShappey · 05/10/2014 19:14

This is ridiculous!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 05/10/2014 19:15

Unless David I humouring her and is secretly planning to slip arsenic into heathers tea

Hopefully Jill will remind him of the mortgage and the b shares and how worthless the farm is with route b hanging over it

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 05/10/2014 19:16

CA says Jill will be bemused. No doubt. She's probably wondering if the sw have ever listened to the archers before.

CarolineKnappShappey · 05/10/2014 19:17

Actually, if Ruth wants to bugger off, let her.

This woman doesn't seem to be bothered by her mother most of the time. Now we are supposed to believe that she would disrupt her children when they are in secondary education, and leave a community where they are embedded.

Come on?!

GypsyFloss · 05/10/2014 19:53

Ah this is all bollox.Again

There's no way the David would be looking at farms in Prudhoe so soon.

As for Hayley...you sound like a right doormat . Chuck him out!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 05/10/2014 19:57

So characters they have got completely wrong compared to their history since new ed

Roy - hunk? Really?
David - readily willing to sell his birthright
Hayley - doormat when she was always feisty

BoreOfWhabylon · 05/10/2014 19:58

I am now even more convinced that the Ambridge Convenient Death Fairy will smite Heatherpet at the eleventh hour, just in time to prevent Deervid and Roooth from selling the farm.

But hopefully not before there is outrage and angst all round when they announce their Grand Plan.

BoreOfWhabylon · 05/10/2014 20:01

And yes, where is the feisty Hayley of yesteryear?

We must just hope that Vickoi gets to hear about it all (from Feebs?). She will wipe the floor with him.

BasketzatDawn · 05/10/2014 20:06

It's all got a bit woeful again. I keep hoping Hayley is biding her time, discussing her problems with online friends late at night Smile, and working out her next steps. Rota is such a sap, I hope she doesn't want him back after all this. He seems utterly unaware of the trouble he has caused.

Did Carol really put Phil's roses in the F and P show? Does Jill know? Isn't that cheating? Did she ask Bert to dig up more keep same roses? I think I need to hear the whole of last week again, I have missed so much, but I can't do that and missed part of the film too.

My thoughts on Chas being happy was that it was the beer. But presumably both of them had to drive their respective vehicles back to wherever they get driven at night. Charlie doesn't live in Ambridge, where does he skulk when he not in A? And how to you DTD in a tractor cab without sustaining an injury? I know tractor cabs are more swish these days but .... I suppose it may be easier for 2 men though .... .Shock

justiceofthePeas · 05/10/2014 20:14

Oh god Roy is teeth grindingly annoying and self centered. He needs to make her understand. understand what exactly? That he is a slimey two faced shit who didn't give her or Abbie and 2nd thought when he was planning on shacking up with Lizard because all that mattered was he loved the Lizzie in an utterly vomit inducing way. Say one thing for Lizard at least she puts her (horrible spoilt) children first.
Still it is true to the script so often seen on MN.

As for David I think the plot that the SWs have done so badly at getting across is that they would rather have a farm they can run properly the way a farm should be run than a farm with a road through it, ancestral or not.
I predict a farm will be selected, they will be on verge of moving. Route b will get cancelled. David will be overjoyed they are staying and Ruth will be gootted about her mam and there will be ructions.
Hopefully this will be after everyone falls out with Lizard over the b shares and she will flounce off into the sunset astride the hobbit who has realised he really, truly cannot live without her that living with a justifiably angry wife and daughter is a bit twicky. Leaving Lily and the other one to run LL in somekind of novel way.
Or maybe LL will also get sold and everyone under 30 will go on a gap year.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 05/10/2014 20:45

Still don't buy David even considering it let alone going to look at farms. If route b had been approved I could see Ruth's argument being stronger but I still don't think David would consider it.

It won't happen of course because it will piss off too many listeners and whilst the new ed might be trying to attract a younger crowd with his dj playlist I can't imagine it's working that well!

Bluestocking · 05/10/2014 21:16

I like the idea of Frilly being left to run LL. It would be like The Cement Garden or Les Enfants Terribles.

CuttedUpPear · 05/10/2014 21:51

It is a bit ridiculous about the Prudhoe farm because even with the suspension of (dis?)belief necessary to get involved in the plot, there's no way David Archer would leave Ambridge.

Feeling like starting an Inconsistencies Thread just to give the SWs a quick reference tool.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 05/10/2014 21:55

That's a good idea cuttedup!

mummytime · 05/10/2014 22:18

Well I don't see why anyone would leave a nice midlands farm for one in Prudhoe - its hardly prime farmland around there is it? Or am I totally misjudging the area, and its secretly as fruitful as the area near Dundee? Or something?
