A big showdown tonight I hope.

Thanks to Zero (I think?) for the great title.

OP posts:

I totally agree Lillian.

I hope the sw are going to chill out a little and stop trying to make something massive happen to every household.

And please can we stop with carol being the agony aunt - it's just more mrs Plotdevice!!

unitarian · 09/10/2014 17:44

That's true.
I wonder why they don't recast Debbie and bring her back from Hungary.

PetulaGordino · 09/10/2014 17:44

they do substitute actors on tv sometimes don't they? i'm thinking about the actress with the cocaine addiction on EE (?). but it's usually after a break of a number of years perhaps

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 09/10/2014 17:59

With tony and clarrie it was pretty quick.

Ill always remember jim Robinson in neighbours. His wife returns from a trip being played by a new career who is shorter, lighter and darker haired. He opens the door and says something along the lines of 'darling, you've changed your hair'

BasketzatDawn · 09/10/2014 18:08

Only on page 16 so far. I do like Lewis and Morse - ds2 is a particularly keen watcher of police drama and has watched all the above numerous times. I've moved on to European stuff - Scandi of course but also Spiral. DS prefers no subtitles though so it's my 'guilty secret'.Smile But we have no TV and watch these on DVD and I think we have 2 Lewis series still to go. DS2 whose birthday is in early Jan tends to get one each year. This feels like a very long wait though. Of course Kavanagh QC excellent too. And the Sweeney, if you want early Thaw. I've never seen Endeavour. That was done after John Thaw died, I think? I must check it out. DS would love it. .GrinI wish I could find some German police procedural-type stuff.

Back to TA, I don't mind Ruth and David that much either. I don't have the dislike of the northern tones (albeit rather weird ones) like some people.

PetulaGordino · 09/10/2014 18:11

endeavour is very recent - within the last few years i think

i saw a scene being filmed for the most recent series when i was in oxford last christmas

BasketzatDawn · 09/10/2014 18:14

There's a tractor stopped opposite my house. No black and white dog, no dog at all, and not a young man either. AND I found myself wondering about the mechanics of DTD (though not me personally) in the cab. Grin Frankly it looks very awkward.

PetulaGordino · 09/10/2014 18:16

it is

BasketzatDawn · 09/10/2014 18:24

I will bow to your superior knowledge of such matters, petula. Grin

PetulaGordino · 09/10/2014 18:26

not that much knowledge. mission was aborted in the end. due to aforementioned awkwardness. i think that's enough on that subject Grin

BasketzatDawn · 09/10/2014 18:29

Do you think this thread will be full by Monday? Where is DadDadDad and his spreadshit when we need it.

Not sure about Carol as Agony Aunt. Twas only her god-daughter and old friend talking. We need Fallon, Vicki and of course Hayley to tell her what's bothering them too. Bert and Freda too, separately. 'My Freda's gone awful quiet' Smile Of course much depends what happens in next few days on TA - and how much we branch out into other matters.

PetulaGordino · 09/10/2014 18:31

when is the harvest supper? friday?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 09/10/2014 18:48

I think that's enough on that subject...

Actually I think we need to hear considerably more. For the sake of improving our agricultural knowledge....

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 09/10/2014 19:13

No Christmas show? Sad

BasketzatDawn · 09/10/2014 19:23

I never had Daveed as a mummy's boy. He is 50 plus FGS. How long does he think she will keep going? I can understand he likes having her around and loves her as a son loves his mother. And he's had much nicer dinners since his mother moved back in. But was that realistic? And what about poor Kenton? He loves his mummy just as much, I am sure. Silly SL.

DadDadDad · 09/10/2014 20:18

basketz - my spreadshit's still going strong, but I don't like to interrupt the flow of story discussion too much. Did you see my post of 12:29 yesterday?

But common sense says this thread is taking a week to half fill, so I think we'll still be on this one late next week.

unitarian · 09/10/2014 20:22

Ed 'n'Emma were getting quite comfortable in that tractor cab before its innards got blocked!

Helen & Wob were nauseating, even more than usual.

It was interesting what Linda said about moving on to new challenges. Jill seemed to be taking it on board.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 09/10/2014 20:24

Right. I missed it tonight.

Has Lynda decided not to do a Xmas play? That is a step too far by the sw!!!!

R4 · 09/10/2014 21:19

BYOS
Lynda decides that Christmas entertainment has run it course. Times have changed, things move on. She won't do a panto ever again this year.
Jill, having lunch with her and thinking of Route B, nods in agreement.

What has happened at Willow Farm? Haven't Vickoi's eruptions been heard all round Ambridge?

LillianGish · 09/10/2014 21:24

They can't be bothered to write one - too busy concocting ridiculous plot twists and bringing in new characters to keep the everyday story going (don't they realise it's the everyday story that has kept people listening for however many years - about 35 in my case)

ErrolTheDragon · 09/10/2014 21:40

This really won't do. Lynda and Jill need to transform the xmas show into an unassailable No Route B extravaganza.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 09/10/2014 21:45

I think I'm more shocked they have Lynda giving up the Xmas show so quickly than I was about Ruth's stoopid suggestion

Some great storylines have come about because of the Christmas play. They're missing a trick!!!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 09/10/2014 21:47

Lillian - I totally agree with you (again!)

If they did do an anti route b production lily could weave the backdrop.

PetulaGordino · 09/10/2014 22:03

or lily and ian could convey the protest through the medium of mime

ErrolTheDragon · 09/10/2014 22:07

Perhaps the xmas show will be a mime performance organised by Derek Fletcher with Tilly Button and Sabrina Thwaite in leading roles, with scenery provided by Lily.
