How about we immortalise Schrodinger's Baby in the opening paragraph?

How long will this thread last DadDadDad?

Goodness, this is boring...

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 30/09/2014 19:13

Really Helen? I know sick kids can be tiring but really?

DadDadDad · 30/09/2014 19:14

I know you all think he's creepy and he comes across that way, what has he actually done wrong in this episode? He seems pretty supportive with Henry.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 30/09/2014 19:15

Here we go....

Alienation of affection

and...

"give up your job".....

Oldladyhip · 30/09/2014 19:15

Where is Mat and Lillian when you need them? Even Carol?

This is turgid stuff

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 30/09/2014 19:17

He is clearly a controlling man but he does display good parenting a lot of the time, can't deny him that!

It never comes across that his actions stem from love though

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 30/09/2014 19:19

I remembered Matt this morning. I'm thinking that "Matt and Mungo" will make a great team pretty soon.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 30/09/2014 19:23

Whenever an episode is boring you just have to imagine what's going on silently in the background that would amuse you of it was on tv

Lily desperately trying to get someones attention silently
Two pigs getting it on
The arc johnny spent ages cleaning suddenly collapsing
Jazzers kilt blowing up

Primadonnagirl · 30/09/2014 19:24

It's all very tedious at the moment..Don't expect drive by shootings, but Johnny from Oop North choosing new wallpaper is hardly Armchair Theatre

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 30/09/2014 19:39

Just imagine matt driving past during the jazzer/tony scene, slowing down enough to see he is clearly bopping his head to hip hop

Davros · 30/09/2014 19:48

And please don't forget to give Roy Rogers his proper name, Roy Fucker.
I loved the continuity announcer before the film as mentioned UP "this episode includes scenes featuring Leonie Snell", genius!

DadDadDad · 30/09/2014 20:58

I can tell you are getting bored, as the posts per day rate has fallen steadily since the start of this thread making it harder and harder to answer OP's question. We could still be on this thread at the end of next week.

Davros · 30/09/2014 21:05

Well there may be a sex change storyline coming. The latest RT spoiler for Tuesday refers to Pat as "he"!! That should get the thread moving Grin

Icimoi · 30/09/2014 21:57

I wondered whether Lizzie was horrified at the rumour about Roy having his fingers in the till because she realised that it's the one thing that is absolutely guaranteed to have Roy and Hayley charging around proclaiming what really happened?

She seems to have gone awfully quiet about his compensation claim. Are we supposed to believe she's still thinking about it?

Bluestocking · 30/09/2014 21:57

That was a very dull epi. Rob putting calamine on Henry ... zzzzz .... but I did wonder if he took the opportunity of being up when Helen was asleep to hide that invoice to make her think she's losing her grip on her work. She won't be able to hunt if she's pregnant though, will she?

BYOS, I love the idea of Matt cruising past in his Range Rover bopping his head around to some old skool hip hop.

Rogered by a hobbit is genius - although probably a bit unfair on hobbits who only wear natural fibres.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 30/09/2014 22:04

I wondered when Jill mentioned the rumours were about money if lizzie would get the wrong end of the stick and think the compensation claim was up for discussion

Apologies to all hobbits out there but blame lily not me!!!

I think for comic relief we need Brian and matt to have a rap battle.

Am I the only one who thinks rob must be drugging Helen with something to make her this pathetic? She had a good nights sleep yet was behaving like she'd not slept for a month

Bluestocking · 30/09/2014 22:13

And genuine LOLzies to Jazzer's kilt blowing up!

CarolineKnappShappey · 30/09/2014 22:17

Of course Roy did not have his fingers in the till. He had them in Elizabeth.

(I'm so, so sorry for that...)

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 30/09/2014 22:21

Tankers worth of mind bleach please!!!

TheFantasticMrsFox · 01/10/2014 07:05

Hah, I laughed out loud at that one caroline BUT it is only 7am, hardly a fitting image for the breakfast table Envy

GypsyFloss · 01/10/2014 07:37

Oh god Caroline that's my breakfast gone!

What about Helen being seriously and then terminally ill? Rob can't secure her/ his inheritance by marrying her but he could offer adopt Henry. Cue many wranglings with PatnTone about how best to bring him up. Although this train of thought is derailed slightly by the WonderGrandson RichJohnny and their current obsession with him. Maybe they wouldn't care about the Magikal Baby's future anymore.

LillianGish · 01/10/2014 07:41

We were wrong - Lily is not using the medium of mime to communicate, but the medium of art. "Oh look, Lily's done another painting - of Nigel's favourite horse in the stable block."
Knob is definitely trying to get Henry onside isn't he? "That's what dad's do" or words to that effect. Pat's not won over though and I got the feeling she would have pursued it further if Helen had not been so tired. As for Johnny's room redecoration - isn't that intended to further emphasise his similarities to John - to further fix him in the Pat and Tony's affections. I predict that is where we are going to see Knob's nasty side again - like his threatening aside to Jim.

PetulaGordino · 01/10/2014 07:54

i didn't think the episode was boring. you learnt several things

  • johnny is interested in connecting with his father
  • johnny's presence is helping pat and tony to come to terms with john's death to the extent that they are prepared to redecorate his room that hasn't been changed since he died
  • rob is very keen on demonstrating that he is a "good dad" to henry. depending on your POV, either this is because he's actually a good man really, or no man is wholly evil, or he is creepy and scheming wrt getting henry onside
  • helen really struggles to cope without help. either she has got something else going on (illness, pregnancy?) or she has never had to do it before because she always had pat and tony to help
  • helen is barely going into the shop any more and her presence isn't really needed there
ZeroSomeGameThingy · 01/10/2014 08:57

And one more thing...

How resentful Jazzer feels about his life, in comparison to the sweet lives of those born to the land. I had been feeling rather envious on behalf of the Grundys, seeing how many good things have fallen into RJ's lap simply by walking onto Archer land - but it's clear that Jazzer has also been unsettled by it. And his employers continue to underestimate and disrespect him. How did Tony not sit down and discuss RJ's proposed apprenticeship with him rather than just expecting him to mind read? Angry

PseudoBadger · 01/10/2014 09:00

I didn't think it was boring either. It was an 'enabler' episode; it paves the way for future events. I liked the Jazzer depth and Tony's explanation of how to handle him.
