New thread for hopefully an exciting Sunday episode. Poor Hayley.

OP posts:

So did I, Silvery! Poor old doormat Hayley. For God's sake, get yourself a backbone!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/09/2014 19:24

But the tuckers are one of the few non archer family's!!! They can't get rid!

So I think Hayley is going to talk to lizzie and that will confirm her suspicions. If we are lucky there will be hair pulling with Freddie cheering Hayley on.

Yes Roy is a toad but I still think liz has behaved worse. It's a bit like when the master would get the servant girl pregnant and she'd be disappeared off to a workhouse.

BasketzatDawn · 10/09/2014 19:33

At this rate Hayley will be waiting till Christmas to give Rota the locket in his stocking. Hmm But twas a good episode, and she is clearly waiting for
the right moment /hoping sap husband will tell her the truth.

Ed is quite right to be annoyed at Mike for telling Jazzer first. Silly man.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 10/09/2014 19:42

Oh my - Roy's evasiveness was horribly realistic...

Although I'm pretty sure in RL Elizabeth would be far more aware of her responsibilities as an employer.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/09/2014 19:53

But poor little lizzie always gets her way. She sounded most put out that he wasn't going to mutually agree.

With mike - I don't think he is comfortable in his decision and spoke to jazzer first to try and clarify things. I feel sorry for him.

She gave him lots of openings too

I should imagine she will have a lot of choice words to liz along the lines o chewing up her husband and spitting him out

Bluestocking · 10/09/2014 20:13

I think Hayley has smelled a whole horde of rats. Not sure it's really in character for her to be going for this slow-burn, give-him-enough-rope stuff though.
I would like Harry Hill to have a guest spot on TA so he could say "who deserves Roy most, Hayley or Lizzie? There's only one way to find out ..... FIIIIIGHT!"

toothlessoldhag · 10/09/2014 21:20

Is it just me who heard the actress who plays Lizzie saying she loves Roy completely unbelievable? Is it the actress not believing or Lizzie not meaning it??

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/09/2014 21:30

Is lizzie capable of loving someone other than herself?

I suppose it would look worse for her if he admitted to it being a randy shag.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/09/2014 21:47

She not he!!!

OddFodd · 10/09/2014 22:18

I've never really bought Lizzie being in love with Roy. He adored her which is all she really cares about. But didn't have the money or the status that Nigel had so she was never going to run away with him. He was just her restoration shag

PetulaGordino · 10/09/2014 22:24

i wonder whether as byos says she has to say it's love because otherwise she (and roy) have put the running of lower loxley and the professional and personal lives of a married couple who have supported her enormously at hug risk just for the sake of a quick shag to scratch an itch. and she doesn't want to think she's capable of that

OddFodd · 10/09/2014 22:26

Yes I think you're right. Can you imagine how disappointed Jill's going to be in her? Oh I do hope the whole village finds out and Susan sniffs at her disapprovingly every time she goes into the shop!

Veritata · 10/09/2014 22:51

The way Gollum kept gormlessly saying "Wha'?" made me all the more sceptical about the entire concept of Lizzie loving him. They really are poles apart in so many ways, the whole thing is only explicable on the basis that she fancied a good shag.

unitarian · 11/09/2014 00:33

Hmm. His temper is just below the surface all the time and it's in his voice the moment he feels he's being thwarted so she would have lit the blue touch paper if she'd said she didn't love him.

JessieMcJessie · 11/09/2014 03:31

Brenda isn't with the Russian any more, that ended (but she got to keep the ring) and her new boyf is some sort of IT whizzkid I think, called Justin or Julian or something similar, with a flash apartment overlooking the Thames.

I find Roy's total lack of regard for Hayley, Phoebe and Abby very unrealistic and out of character, as well as the fact that he appears to have thought that that Freddy and Lily would happily pardon his and his mother's betrayal of Hayley simply because he and Lizzie were "meant to be together". Perhaps if he'd separated from Hayley before there was any physical relationship with Lizzie, but what they did is patently unforgivable on any analysis (Hayley's relationship with the family making it even worse than an affair where the DW is unconnected to the OW) and I don't think he'd really be stupid enough not to realise that.

Also don't buy Lizzie loving Roy, the story would have worked better without that element.

Did Caroline ever get that new deputy manager for Grey Gables?

PetulaGordino · 11/09/2014 03:36

Did she hire Kathy in the end?

Eastpoint · 11/09/2014 05:18

Yes & we've hardly heard from Kathy since.

JessieMcJessie · 11/09/2014 06:11

Oh yes, that's right, Kathy resigned from her job at the chain hotel after only a couple of weeks, didn't she?

PetulaGordino · 11/09/2014 06:22

Do you know I can't even remember now. I remember it all being a damp squib wrt Martin whatnot not getting his comeuppance (which in fairness is true to life)

And then yes, she felt bad about letting down the new job to stay at GG?

Hakluyt · 11/09/2014 06:28

Of all the many Archer's personality transplants, I find the Roy one the most unbelievable. It really annoys me- I can't properly enjoy the story.....because it just wouldn't have happened!!!!!!!

ppeatfruit · 11/09/2014 08:29

Do the SWs think we have all fallen in love with Roy (like Lizzie is supposed to) since the first shag? It was all a careful set up; Roy stopping the horse from running or something while Shula was there, Roy looking good at the funeral 'wake' and Carol commenting, the triumph of Loxfest being down to him etc.

She doesn't really love him ,it's obvious.

Lots of good family men go off the rails though Hak it happens all the time, it's sex innit?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 11/09/2014 08:38

I think he had a little crush on liz but wouldn't hae done anything. That's why I think she took advantage. Thought he was a safe bet because he was married so wouldn't blab about their one night stand. Then realised she had got herself into a bigger mess than she thought.

I do think she has used Roy and couldn't give a damn about the consequences for him. It is always about her.

And agree that Roy is not behaving realistically. He is not by nature a devious character so you would expect him to feel guilty and not be so off hand with Hayley.

It is an unrealistic personality transplant and that's why I feel sorry for Roy! They've completely changed him!!

ppeatfruit · 11/09/2014 08:50

No he's in luuuuuurve BYOS he's feeling guilty of course but it's luuuurve innit ? and in the words of the song "it changes everything".
