New thread for hopefully an exciting Sunday episode. Poor Hayley.

OP posts:
PetulaGordino · 10/09/2014 07:40

I thought maybe dyslexia too

But it's fine, he's a natural bull-whisperer

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 10/09/2014 07:53

Couldn't they have a heartwarming story of RJ and Tony being jointly diagnosed?

PetulaGordino · 10/09/2014 07:55

That would be a good awareness-raising thing

I did like jazzer's "throwing peanuts at Hilary noakes"

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 10/09/2014 08:06

Mmm... But it was outrageous of mike to tell Jazzer, an employee, about his plans before telling Ed when they're supposed to be working in partnership.

Wasn't quite sure what he meant when he said he, Rosa and Ed might help Mike out with the money situation. That would be a spectacular buy-out. Rosa could be a milk queen (and still marry Dan...)

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 10/09/2014 08:14

Surely someone will buy Ed a milk processing business (and Vicky's cows) for Christmas?

Oliver?

Joe?

Neil?

Oh, but of course - Will.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/09/2014 08:57

We haven't really heard from Oliver - I would have thought he would be the first person ed will speak to.

Maybe ed could suggest a cooperative with Brookfield. He may have less cows but it could still work surely?

Do you think Brenda will come back when she finds out?

The sw either want to get rid of mike so they can move a sexy new family in or they can't deal with Beth (or don't want to)

trevortrevorslattery · 10/09/2014 09:27

Another vote for no spoilers please Smile

I like RJ the bullwhisperererer. So glad Freddie is having a go but surely he must issue some kind of ultimatum to Lizzie to break it off..

unitarian · 10/09/2014 10:10

I thought Freddie was issuing an ultimatum of sorts. By saying that Lily feels as he does he's telling his mother that they both disapprove, loathe Gollum being on the premises and he will continue his attitude of defiance until she gets rid of him, or they might tell Hayley. Lily will have a silent rebellion!

Mind you, they are also telling Elizabeth in effect that she can never date a bloke without their approval.

PetulaGordino · 10/09/2014 10:21

"they are also telling Elizabeth in effect that she can never date a bloke without their approval"

yes i thought that. but then i suppose it's the fact that it's roy, so not only are they close to hayley, i suspect they have inherited the snobbiness and someone of his background would never be good enough for their mother

R4 · 10/09/2014 10:33

Are they setting up a storyline for a year or so, when Freddie starts dating someone that Lizzie disapproves of. He can't stick his oar into her relationships unless she is also allowed to do v.v.
Freddie would have done better to stick to morals about marriage rather than forbid his mother ever to date again.

How has Roy gone from RotaHunk to hobbit/gollum? I'm very confused as to what he looks like now. Perhaps it's like when the mousy librarian takes off her glasses and lets her hair tumble down: by day he is mild-mannered polyester but when his shirt comes off is all phwwwoar! (Still not convinced: he can never be superman with that awful nasal voice.)

unitarian · 10/09/2014 10:38

Freddie also, quite rightly, resents Roy taking over the prerogative of a father and telling him off and for acting as though he owns the place - 'strutting around'.

Does Lizzie own the place or is she managing it on Freddie's behalf until he is 21?

R4 · 10/09/2014 10:41

LL is all tied up in trusts. I don't know if that is until Freddie is 21 or if it is in perpetuity in order to prevent feckless young things drinking and gambling away the inheritance.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 10/09/2014 10:46

Yes but it's one thing to say "we don't like him" where Lizzie can make up her own mind about the bloke, and another to say "we don't like him and also don't like that he's a cheating knobend, shit father and your employee too, remember?" which she can hardly deny.

unitarian · 10/09/2014 10:46

Or feckless old things!

So if Lizzie remarried her husband wouldn't have any legal rights to the estate?

R4 · 10/09/2014 10:54

I really don't know how it is set up, but I'll bet it is complicated!
I'd hazard that it is something like the house and grounds are tied up in trusts and generate income by renting out to the conference business which is/was the property of Lizzie/Nigel as individuals.

unitarian · 10/09/2014 11:02

That makes sense R4. Thanks.

I'm wondering what is expected to happen when Freddie reaches 21. Presumably he then inherits the property in trust for his heirs and Lily gets a cash settlement.

But what is Lizzie's status then? Dowager in Julia's flat?

ppeatfruit · 10/09/2014 11:13

I've just read TA beeb website; one of the funniest comments is " Susan's hair is now one of the silent characters" !!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 10/09/2014 11:16

I'm quite certain that if Lizzie remarries her new husband could not get his hands on LL.

I don't recall Freddie having any problem with Ifty getting close to Elizabeth. I think perfectly reasonably he and Lily are horrified that their former nanny is being betrayed by both her husband and their mother.

ppeatfruit · 10/09/2014 11:17

Yeah BRING BACK IFTY!!!!!!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/09/2014 12:02

I don't think Freddie would have seen ifty and his mum a developing more than a friendship

Seeing her get heavy with Roy was probably a shock as he doesn't see her as someone who wants sex etc.

Tbh the thought of catching a parent at it must be pretty traumatic for any teenager!

stilllearnin · 10/09/2014 13:01

Grin at Lily's silent rebellion.

I love a spoiler so much that when I miss something big, I read this thread first before listening to the podcast! I like to settle down happy in the knowledge that I am about to be grossed out/ horrified/ incredulous.

But this is not a democracy - so if even one of us requests no spoilers, then no spoilers it is. IIRC Ursula and (is it) Bruce were in the cast list for the no show at Blossim Hill Cottage.

stilllearnin · 10/09/2014 13:09

Blossim 'ill?!

Veritata · 10/09/2014 13:53

There are times when casting economies make things ridiculous. Surely if Freddie and Lily had had a long conversation about Liz and Gollum, they would have decided to go and talk to her together? Especially given that Lily has the advantage of not being in disgrace like her brother?

trevortrevorslattery · 10/09/2014 14:20

Ha Gollum. But he still doesn't know that Hayley has his precioussssss locket. I wonder when she's going to confront him!!!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/09/2014 14:20

Totally agree

Lil would want to be there to malware we brother wasn't trouble making. Wouldn't you confront your mum?
