New thread for hopefully an exciting Sunday episode. Poor Hayley.

OP posts:
stilllearnin · 05/09/2014 06:12

I cannot believe Freddie will keep quiet. angry teenagers are not good at that. If the sw's know what they're at it'll be on fb or twitter so will get to Hayley via feebs or josh.

I'm a bit disappointed by jess' bump. I was hoping it would be something a bit more interesting. Presumably jess will be able to force a paternity test on him, but why has she left it so long to tell? I want to shake Helen about the hunting thing too! Even if rob were his dad, you don't just trample over your partner's principles grr

CuttedUpPear · 05/09/2014 06:46

But how likely is it that on a setting-the-world-to-rights mission when you are taking the visible proof of your HUSBAND'S duplicity to the doorstep of his new love nest, after a long drive from the home counties, you pop into Top Shop in his local town to try on a few new threads?

Huh?Confused Hmm

LillianGish · 05/09/2014 07:55

Just caught up - hadn't realised it was Jess in changing room (not a familiar enough voice for me, but I did think no one ever speaks in The Archers unless they are a recognised character!) Anyone else Grin at the name of the restaurant on Borchester Road - La fin du Monde! Should have realised that was a hint from the SW (and also the music in the background as Hayley got ready to go out - Finally it's happening to me right in front of my face etc etc - no idea who it's by, but I'm sure someone will be along soon who does).

PetulaGordino · 05/09/2014 08:11

Was it CeCe Peniston?

We never found out whether Jess took up the SW job did we? So listening yesterday I realised it was her but assumed she was shopping in her lunch break or something, and had moved up from Hampshire. But I'm probably wrong about that, as she and other Ambridge people would probably have crossed paths more recently if that were the case

R4 · 05/09/2014 08:31

Ha! Top marks to me: I knew it was Jess straight away. The combination of 'no strangers in Ambridge' and "I look so fat" were giveaways (even if her voice wasn't, it's a bit anonymous).
Agree with cup though - why would Jess stop off in TopShop?Confused

Finally, it's happening to me is by CeCe Peniston (never spotted that beforeShock is that a made-up name!?)

Roy is a total idiot. He was so wrapped up in his Lower Loxley life that he didn't even notice that Hayley was all dressed up with no where to go. No wonder she broke down in tears (very realistic reaction/acting btw, no Kirsty-style keening). I really hope that she holds it together in a 'revenge is a dish best served cold' sort of way and plans her way out of this and doesn't flounce in a melodramatic - but financially ruinous - way. Do you think that Bethany's new school are looking for a TA?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 05/09/2014 08:55

But how likely is it that ...... you pop into Top Shop in his local town to try on a few new threads?

I would do exactly that.GrinBlush

BitOutOfPractice · 05/09/2014 08:58

Jess popping into Top Shop is no more or less likely than 99% of things that happen in TA

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 05/09/2014 08:59

I can't believe that Freddie hasn't told lily

And why didn't lizzie do the more affronted 'what are you talking about? He was just comforting me over your bad behaviour!' Only for Fred to tell them he saw them in the haystack

We don't hear much but I've never thought of lizzie as a good mum.

As for Roy - is he following the cheaters script? I can't imagine that he would be so calm and offhand with Hayley after finding out his dirty little secret is out

Maybe he thinks if the twins know it makes it easier for him to persuade lizzie that they can make a go of it.

Lizzie is the type who will have a relationship with him to try and show it wasn't a huge error in judgement but it will all end badly.

Will he be sacked now Freddie knows? I feel a really annoying and inaccurate employment law story coming on!!!

PetulaGordino · 05/09/2014 08:59

Grin BOOP

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 05/09/2014 09:00

So assuming Jess is pregnant enough that it is noticeable but not pregnant enough that she is shopping in maternity section (if she was she wouldn't have a problem with it fitting over the increasing bump) - how far along is she?

trevortrevorslattery · 05/09/2014 09:34

GO FREDDIE!! I actually said "oof" out loud in the car when he said about wishing Elizabeth was dead instead of his dad.. brilliant.

I didn't know it was Jess in the changing rooms until I read it on here Blush.. exciting though.. whatever will Helen do now?

Also, I hope Hayley is waiting to give Roy a big dressing-down and then kick him out. The dick.

unitarian · 05/09/2014 09:40

She told Helen on Valentine's night that he'd been in her bed so she could be 8 months along which makes driving from where she allegedly lives and blithely popping into clothes shops on the way less likely.
Has he been visiting her at other times I wonder? Or has she moved to Borchester?

All will be revealed tonight - or perhaps not.........

unitarian · 05/09/2014 09:43

Mind you, if Jess wants him back then she really is a fruitcake.

ppeatfruit · 05/09/2014 09:44

OMG Mimsy My computer is playing up so I may not be able to 'listen again' now and will have to wait till this aft. Shock It seems Thursday is the 'drama' day then Grin

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 05/09/2014 09:49

She can't be 8 months bi think rob could more easily explain a valentines day romp (I wa weak, she was crying over her dad, she tricked me, blah blah blah). It would be more interesting if she were 4 or 5 months

Still think mixing the Jess story with the DV story overdramatises it a bit though

R4 · 05/09/2014 09:50

You have to catch the repeat pp. It was a real corker!
The Lizzie / Roy / Freddie scene was brilliant. He kept throwing accusations at them and instead of denying they kept blustering with diversions like "don't talk to me like that". I particularly despised Lizzie's "I promise you Freddie ..." without actually saying what it was she was promising.

WipsGlitter · 05/09/2014 09:53

I guessed it was Jess when she said about the bump. I think Helen will still forgive him! Or there will be a terrible hunting accident, how old is Henry? Is he able to ride a horse yet? Maybe trampled at the meet or something.

Poor, poor Hayley. Although I didn't realise she was actually working at Loxfest, you would have thought she would have seen a bit more of Roy while she was doing that.

And yes, surely Freddie would have told his sister.

Loved it. Listening in work and my colleagues are laughing as I was gasping really loudly!!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 05/09/2014 09:55

Ignoring Helen for a moment, why would Jess still be sleeping with him knowing he's playing happy families in ambridge?

It would have been more realistic if she had fallen pregnant around the time of salmon gate

unitarian · 05/09/2014 09:58

I didn't show at all until past 6 months so I'm inclined to think she's quite far along but, if so, it is implausible that she would have kept this info from Rob until now.

Do my ears detect a severe deterioration in Henry's speech? Grin That should be a red flag to nursery workers that all is not well with his home life.

PetulaGordino · 05/09/2014 10:02

i can't remember exactly what happened on valentine's day... did jess know that helen had moved in with him?

unitarian · 05/09/2014 10:31

IIRC Jess rolled up at the cottage on Valentines - he was 'in Essex' - and was surprised to see Helen there. J indicated that he'd recently slept with her.

Rob told Helen Jess was unbalanced. New bed was ordered. Helen continued her life obliviously.

Is he planning for Henry to be bumped off in a hunting accident?

unitarian · 05/09/2014 10:32

The bunk bed has failed to kill Henry so hence the hunting?

PetulaGordino · 05/09/2014 10:35

thanks unitarian

so february would have been the latest jess could have slept with him without knowing he had moved helen in

Bakeoffcakes · 05/09/2014 10:35

TopShop has a maternity section.Grin

I know as I spend quite a bit of time and money in there with DD.

Bakeoffcakes · 05/09/2014 10:36

Oh I didn't mean we spend time in the maternity section- just the rest of TopShop!
